Chapter 150: Bloody Nightmare's nightmare (a)

Why wouldn’t he know of the extent and capabilities of the items produced by the weaponsmiths of the spirit world?

He knew how great they were because he had experienced one by himself!

His enemy, the manager of the first trial, was the fruit of their knowledge and resources, and he sincerely admits that it was truly marvelous! It came with a soul, after all.

It was able to act for itself, and that characteristic alone far surpassed the computerized creations of humans, which follow a set of codes.

Soul; a field of extensive study containing boundless truth and the path towards ascension that the magicians haven’t tapped into yet.

That he knew was just because of the cultural and geographical differences between humans and spirits. They were born in a world where every being could gain a soul after living for some time, a far cry from Earth and Xavier.

The laws of that world were different, and spirits came in contact with souls since the beginning of time, he believed, and that’s why they were able to incorporate souls into their creations!

“The spirit race created this place for a reason, and they might have left a lot of things behind in the residential zone. Simply put, the magic and knowledge in that place might allow humanity to set foot in uncharted territory and allow our civilization to grow further.” As he thought of that, excitement flushed his eyes.

‘I must get to that place and be the first one to step into that path!’

He must complete this trial, earn a lot of spirit points, and reach that place, only then would he be able to get his hands on new knowledge.

Storing the medallion in his subspace so that no one but him would be able to get to it, Elliot moved into the forest, submerging himself in its eerieness.

Clouds in the night skies moved like waves in the ocean. Specks of moonlight glowed brightly within them, releasing rays of light that cascaded onto the trees, hitting their amethyst-like leaves.

That caused purple to lit up the entire forest.

After sprinting for a while, jumping from tree to tree, enduring the silence that would bring any man near the brink of mental collapse and breathing in the chilling coldness that permeated the bones, he came across the first target on his list, a bloody nightmare!

It was a thick tree with a teeth-filled mouth in the middle of its trunk and curled up branches with cherries hanging on them. It had wide eye sockets, each glowing brightly in the red flames of destruction.

Bones stretched out of its back and curved to its front, covering it in an exoskeleton of some sort, giving it an extra layer of defense.

It looked like a mascot, one best for representing Halloween; that’s what Elliot thought while furtively stealing glances at it from his hiding spot.

Thanks to his godly eye, he found out that its defense is excellent and its weakness lies inside of its mouth, and that it has menacing means of attacking, ones he wouldn’t be able to come out of scot-free.

Fighting it face on was like a person telling the world that he is a masochist.

Elliot wasn’t one, and hence, he had no intention of fighting it fairly.

“I need to end it quick and fast,” Elliot said before raising his right hand and stretching his forefinger.

Slyness twinkled brightly in his eyes as he decided to take advantage of his position to sneak attack it, a sneak attack that he would imbue with the element of surprise, one that would surely catch his prey off guard.

‘Come out, my thousand units of spiritual energy!’

His celestial energy channel followed his will and directed a thousand units of spiritual energy out of the center of his palm. After which, a vast amount of spiritual energy crept up to his forefinger, swirling at its tip, once, twice, thrice, and many more times, getting thinner each time as it did so until it condensed into the shape of a speck, one with the color of the ocean.

This was the perk of his energy channel. Unlike others, he was able to control the energy that once entered his celestial energy channel as he wills even after discharging it out of his body. It felt like a part of his body, even after he discharged it outside of his right arm.

‘This energy bomb should be enough to take it down, right?’

Elliot’s eyes narrowed to reveal a playful look.

This speck of blue carried explosive powers to nuke a towering building and enough energy to charge a housing society for a month!

“Time to hunt!”

Elliot wordlessly jumped out of his hiding spot and waved his right arm at the startled bloody nightmare from afar.

Ever so slowly, the blue speck of light moved towards the tree that looked like something straight out of a horror movie as Elliot ran into the trees.

Of course, his actions didn’t escape the sight of the Bloody Nightmare. It looked towards him, but he moved so fast that he disappeared from its field of vision in the blink of an eye. It happened too fast, but it managed to catch his figure and realize that he was a humanoid and looked similar to the person it just ate two hours ago to not only replenish itself but also consume said person’s memories!

It knew that Elliot was a human and a so-called magician, a name it found pathetic because it easily crushed a magician to death two hours ago, and it didn’t take him its full power to do so.

Meanwhile, Elliot knew how dreadful its attack could be, and taking one on might harm him severely, and thus, he made a run for it.

“My second meal of the night has escaped, sigh.”

Words came out of its mouth, ones belonging to the language of the corrupted.

It was disappointed at itself for not noticing a human in its vicinity.
