Chapter 175: [2in1] Elliot vs the Nightmare Twin-Headed Snake!
The horrifying nightmare complemented for a brief moment before answering in a way that would help him understand immediately. “It works like master’s magic contact but is a degree higher than that.”
A soul vow worked far better than a magic contract, and it was the method used by the creatures of the soul world to bind oneself or another to a certain rule or rules.
Elliot now understood what was going to happen, and he raised his head to look at the towering giant in front of him, looking forward to seeing it take the vow.
“Heed my words well, oh forest that gave birth to me.”
The twin-headed snake started taking the vow. It was speaking in an archaic language; its words were calming, soothing, and carried a majestic feel to them. However, the humans weren’t able to comprehend what it was saying, not even Elliot. After all, they had never learned or heard such a language before. Only Elliot’s slave could understand its words, and it whispered its translation into its master’s ears.
“I, Cirux Zev Vallel Vow, the fourth strongest of the nightmare region and the one who reign supreme over all manners of disaster that occurs in the depths of night, vow on my soul, no more than three times shall I strike Elliot, a creature of mortal roots and transcendental soul. If he survives, I shall trouble him no more nor his kind nor his kin. If I break my vow, let lightning descend and strike my soul asunder. Do you accept my vow?”
As if the world itself was responding to its call, blobs of light appeared above them, illuminating all that laid below. For the first time in several decades, rays of intense light had descended on the nightmare regions at night, intense enough to illuminate much of it. The commotion didn’t escape the monsters far away and they turned to look at its source. However, the moment they sensed the soul pressure of the twin-headed snake coming from that place, many of them turned tails and ran away while the powerful ones lowered their heads in respect before closing their eyes and entering a state of slumber, showing that they have no interest in joining in on the trouble.
Elliot nodded his head, saying, “I accept.”
Immediately after, heavy wind swayed in their surroundings, lifting the scattered leaves from the ground, bringing them near, making them swirl around Elliot, the twin-headed snake, and the horrifying mandrake. To the humans’ surprise, magical symbols popped up in front of all of them. There were words in it that Elliot believed to be from the language of the spirit race. The magic symbol touched on their forehead, vanishing in the blink of an eye.
[You’ve entered a soul contract with the twin-headed snake, a monster with the thin bloodline of a flood dragon coursing through its vein.]
[Do you wish to break it?]
[Warning: The level of the contract is too high, and breaking it can lead to temporary or everlasting consequences.]
[Consequences of breaking the vow: Breaking a soul contract might deal damage to your soul.]
Elliot ignored the prompt and raised his hand to attract the monster’s attention, and once its scarlet eyes were on him, he said that he wanted the others to leave this place as otherwise, they might get hurt, or worse, even die as a consequence of their attacks.
It expressed no qualms about it and allowed Elliot to send his friends away. Not only that, but it also promised to not damage the tree houses around them, not that he cared.
Anyway, he accepted its response with a smile and expressed his gratitude for its magnanimity before facing his slave and saying, “Make sure to protect her.”
“What???!”
The horrifying mandrake confusion wasn’t even cleared before Elliot grabbed it off of his shoulder and flung it back without any hesitation. It flew in an arc and landed on Lucy’s palms, dizziness at being given a shock and shame at being thrown away like a ragdoll appearing vivid in its beady eyes.
Lucy held it in her hands and worriedly gazed at his back. “Are you going to fight it?”
Elliot gave her a curt nod.
“That’s suicidal!” Oliver said.
Elliot didn’t even need to say something as his slave spoke up for him.
“Nope, it’s not, for my master is the strongest there is in this place.”
It had seen the might of his spiritual energy nuke, and that was the most terrific thing It had seen in its life. That attack had severely ravaged the land, and It believed that no one would be able to survive it.
“Hurry up and leave or else you might get caught by the aftershocks of our attacks and get injured.”
Elliot only had that to say, nothing more and nothing else. Paying heed to his words and knowing full well that they won’t be any help to him, they started to scurry away from the beast’s den, towards a place a bit too far away from the pond.
“Prepare yourself to face my wrath, mortal.” It hissed, eyes brimming with the intent to rain down the first and the weakest of its seven calamities of the night on Elliot.
“I was born ready!” Elliot shouted back, confidence radiating from his entire being.
“First of the Seven Calamities: Song of the Sea!” A voice spread across the nightmare region, and its body released blinding blue rays that pierced everything around it. All of a sudden, water droplets manifested around its body. They were countless and heading at the same spot, right next to its third eye. All of them converged into a singular being, a weapon that looked no different than a trident.
Whoosh! It descended towards Elliot, moving so fast that it sounded like It was ripping apart the wind. At the same time, the illusion of several high waves coming to drown him appeared before his eyes. No, he thought, it isn’t an illusion, he realized as the smell of the ocean reached him.
As the mighty attack descended on him, his eyes brightened in gold. The shine in his eyes didn’t belong to any man, nor could they ever. Golden energy burst out of his body, and at the same time, a terrific audible sound that sounded no different than a volcano exploding three times all of sudden reverberated throughout the forest.
[To manifest the champions desire to give it an overwhelming defeat, -20000 units of the essence of life]
He didn’t know how powerful such an attack was since he had nothing to compare it to; however, he believed somewhat that even a group of magic lords wouldn’t come out of it unscathed.
Bomb! The golden energy that charged out of his body and carried such might that the ones looking at it felt that they were looking at their ends first crashed with the seven high waves. In the split of a second, it blasted through them, causing waves of water to burst outwards and sprinkle all over this part of the nightmare region. While this was happening, It came in contact with the trident. Under the suspenseful eyes of the two-headed snake, the trident couldn’t hold its ground against a raw energy attack with no form or shape for even a moment. Cracks appeared on it as intense aqua and golden energy functions spread outwards.
“Crack!” Then, it immediately shattered, and the golden wave of energy charged towards it, losing not even a bit of its momentum, slamming it on its face.
“Bam!” As if a divine giant had picked a mountain to use it as a weapon and smashed it on its face, the force of the attack forced the twin-headed snake out of its pond and kicked It up into the air.
As if a divine giant had picked a mountain to use it as a weapon and smashed it on its face, the force of the attack forced the twin-headed snake out of its pond and kicked It up into the air. All three of eyes widened like saucers. Never once in its life had It thought that there would come a day when a being with mortal roots would be able to throw Itself in the air like a ragdoll. Not only that, but his attack had made it bleed and cracked most of its bones. It felt like it would die of the sheer pain itself. Moreover, It was in a shocked and muddled state right now. If Elliot were to launch another attack against it right now, gaining an upper hand wouldn’t be hard. That means that Elliot might be able to even several hurt it or slay it if he were to attack it at this moment. However, as Elliot had no intention of attacking It anymore, he didn’t even move and let it descend back to its home.
He didn’t attack as he had no intention of. Instead, his eyes brimming with curiosity looked at it with a scrutinizing gaze. This was the first time he was able to see it entirely. The monster had a dragon tail and also thick, meaty feet. It sure did come as a surprise to even him.
“Plop!” The twin-headed snake dropped back to its pond as Elliot recalled the golden energy back to his body.
