Chapter 25: Life Extraction
<You’ve completed the trial “No Longer the Weakest” by knocking Alexander, who is two levels above you, out cold>
<The Trials rewards will now be allocated to you>
<You’ve obtained 50 units of the essences of life>
<You’ve obtained the Upper section of the Challenger Key. It has been stored in the inventory>
<You’ve gained the right to use the Authority of Life on Alexander>
<Congratulations! You’ve obtained an additional reward for defeating someone for the first time in your life>
<You’ve obtained 200 units of the essence of life>
Elliot now had a total of 270 units of the essence of life left in his reserves. He had used more than a dozen units of it in his fight against Alexander. However, he wasn’t disappointed, instead he felt satisfied. He had a fun time beating Alexander to his heart’s content.
He took out his years of frustration by landing dozens of punches on his face.
“It was well worth it,” Elliot said as he looked at Alexander with evil desires brimming in his eyes.
“Extract the essence of life from the defeated,” Elliot said in his mind.
<Extraction Process has initiated>
<You can cancel it anytime you want>
<Alexander’s essence of life: 99/110>
<You’ve gained 11 units of the essence of life>
<90/110>
<+9>
<80/110>
<+10>
“Stop just before it reaches a threatening level,” Elliot commanded Hope in his mind. He didn’t want to kill Alexander as that will ruin his own life and he will be either jailed or branded as a rouge magician by the Magician Association.
<Affirmative>
A moment later, another notification popped up in his mind.
<You’ve gained 50 units of the essence of life>
<Alexander’s essence of life: 30/110>
<He is close to a threatening level. Any more and the damages will be irreversible>
Elliot finally stopped after extracting 80 units of the essence of life from Alexander’s body, causing the latter hair to turn white. He now had a handful of the essence of life in his pocket and felt happy as he could now even level up.
“Say, John, why did Alexander beat you for your quantum card?”
Elliot looked at John that appeared a bit messy with a calm look on his face.
“I don’t know,” John said before remembering something about the embarrassing encounter with Alexandre. “Ah, I remember! He was talking about scanning the magic code on my quantum card by using his to transfer Magic Coins from my card to his.”
“So, he wanted to steal your money,” Elliot said, a teasing smile stretching across his face as he looked at Alexander.
He decided to steal the magic coins of the bully that likes to act like an alpha wolf but isn’t better than a Lil bitch.
He searched through Alexander’s clothes and found his Quantum Card. He proceeded to scan the Magic Code on the back of the card with the small camera attached to the front of his card.
A moment later, he transferred 80 magic coins to his quantum card. His total amount of magic coins increased to 300.
“We should get out of here,” John said, standing just behind Elliot. He was worried that someone will come by this place and misunderstood the situation. He didn’t want to get painted as the bad guy, nor did he want his savior to take any sorts of ill blame.
“Yes, we should.” Elliot nodded, agreeing with his words.
The two teenagers left Alexander where he was and made a run for it, dashing out the dimly lit hallway, making their way down the staircase, and rushing out from the main building.
“Thanks for saving my life,” John said, expressing his gratitude to Elliot after they got to a safe distance away from the scene of the crime.
“Don’t worry about it too much. I was just taking my revenge.” Elliot said with a laugh, feeling happy that he managed to beat his bully after more than a few years.
He didn’t just beat Alexander.
No!
He did far more than that!
He has vented his bottled-up anger and frustration and also got a lot of the essence of life, magic coins, and the second part of the God’s Tower first floor key.
Also, he was now only one part away from completing the Challenger Key.
“Do you know of any interesting place in the academy?” Elliot asked as he smiled towards John.
Hearing Elliot’s words, John’s eye narrowed in concentration, and after a moment, he said, “There’s one that’s pretty popular with the boys. It’s the Virtual Cabins Hall where everyone goes to enter a virtual world called The Magic Coliseum.”
Elliot’s eyes brightened as he heard those words, and he said, “Oh, tell me about it.”
“The Magic Coliseum is a virtual reality game where two magicians can challenge each other to a virtually simulated non-lethal battle to the death. It’s a place where magicians bet magic coins before fighting to their heart content and also gamble on matches.” John explained to Elliot about the catching feature of one of the most famous places in the Academy.
“We can bet?” Elliot said in a shocked voice.
“Yes, we can. There are two betting polls, one for the gladiators where the magicians fighting each other put their bets before the beginning of the match. The other betting pool is for the spectators waiting in the lobby. The spectators can place their bets on any one of the competitors before the fight begins. The losers Magic coins go down the drain. While the winners take it all.” John explained a bit more about the way it works.
Elliot came to understand that even if the betting pool is in the favor of the person he betted on, he will still earn more than what he bet.
“The Magic Coliseum! It seems like a place made just for me to abuse by using my God’s Eyes of Wisdom and rack up Magic coins.” Elliot’s eyes brightened in glee.
He could determine the strength of the gladiators before the fight begins and use it to his advantage by placing a bet on the strongest one out of the two!
“We can go there right now,” John said, looking at his excited face with a slight smile.
“Let’s go!” Elliot said, anticipating the grandeur of the Magic Coliseum.
John headed towards it, planning to blow off some steam by fighting with others. Elliot followed in toe, ready to make some magic coins!
