Awakened: Evolving to Godhood

Chapter 346

Chapter 346

Elliot, Freya, and Zerrick headed deeper into the unholy necropolis. After dealing with the black slimes, they didn't encounter any other enemies. Their journey towards the spider queen was going smooth. Around two minutes later, the sight of a place dense with trees, greenery, overgrown flowers, and other plant life entered their eyes.

"Are you sure we're going the right way?" Elliot asked while giving Freya a questioning stare.

She moved her head up and down, looking cute. "The second area is pretty big. It has five monster lords and many traps. Four of them are as strong as magic kings. Only one among them is at the peak of the monster lord level. I think he can even go toe to toe with the blue flame empyrean lion. There are many ways to reach the spider queen's chamber but a monster lord guards each of them." She raised her hand and pointed at the landscape dense with green and plant life. "The forest ahead of us is the shortest way to the spider queen's chamber, which is guarded by her most powerful servant."

Zerrick was silent, seemingly not too interested in participating in the talk. He was innately lazy, and his sluggish nature had gotten worse over the thousands of years. His hands were behind his back, and there was an expressionless look on his face.

"You said that a monster lord guards each route to her chamber, right? So, who is defending this one?" Elliot asked.

"My lord, that's who I wanted to warn you about all along. The monster lord guarding the forest is a carnivorous plant. It isn't as strong as the lobster general, but it has many tricks up its sleeves. From poison that can weaken a person's strength to one that can block their supernatural cells' ability to absorb energy, it has it all. When fighting it, we must hold our breath as it releases invisible toxins into the air, which can have different types of adverse effects, and breathing it in might prove fatal to us. It also likes to launch sneak attacks, so we must remain attentive to our surroundings. It might catch us by surprise, otherwise." Freya explained much about the carnivorous plant.

She didn't know its name and many other things about it. But what she had said helped them not remain clueless about the enemy they would be facing soon.

Elliot, for once, was looking forward to fighting the monster lord. His battle intent raised, and his interest increased when he heard that it was a poison-type monster. What did he need to upgrade his supernatural cell? It was the poison of the sixth or seventh level.

The poison of a monster lord of the lowest level is 4 or 5. Since it was guarding the closest route to the spider queen's chamber, it should naturally not be a low-ranked monster lord. It should be a mountain lord, a mid-ranked to the high-ranked monster lord. The level of its poison should be around 5 or 6. Elliot hoped that it would be the latter as only 6th level poison would help his cells strength. Of course, if it was the latter, he could still absorb them to become the owner of new types of poison.

"I always thought you're reliable. Although you're not strong, you're your strength. You're more knowledgeable about the enemies than I am, and your knowledge has helped us a lot along the way." Elliot praised Freya. The poor girl looked into his sunken eyes that had a hint of gold in them but was mostly bright. Her lips curled up, a sweet smile blossoming on her face.

"I'm glad I could be useful to you," she said in a grateful voice as she bowed.

A wind lifted her straight.

"Let's get moving,"

Zerrick's impatient voice sounded in their ears.

Elliot's lips pressed together and thinned into a smile before he said, his eyes on the sublime emperor, "Alright, we will stop dilly-dallying."

"I still have some things left to say, like the dangers of the forest."

"Tell us while moving."

While the three of them moved towards the forest with such speed that they seemed like bright, shooting stars, Freya opened her mouth and spoke, her voice carrying an exhauster feel to it, "The forest doesn't have any monsters. But it is not safe. It has a lot of traps. We will come across a lot of them. Some look like green mushrooms the size of an average man. And others like white edible plants. But they are not edible. The green mushrooms release streams of harmful pollen into the harm when they detect someone near them. The white edible plants release deadly threads that can latch on to a person, paralyzing them and cursing them in many ways. There might be more hidden dangers, but I am incapable and haven't managed to find out about them even after living here for around a decade. Please forgive me."

"Pfft! I find you cuter and cuter." Elliot said with a laugh as he patted her head.

His actions took her by surprise, and she stepped, but before she could fall, he grabbed her night skies-like wrist and saved her. The two looked into each other eyes as the sublime emperor charged ahead, going further and further away. Elliot was the first one to look out, followed by the bashful Freya. She said thank you, but he was already too far away to hear her. She chased after him, becoming more and more exhausted. How hard it was for a mere magic lord to catch up to emperors? Elliot wasn't one, but he was as fast and strong as one. Freya knew it was too hard, and if it weren't for the fact that she was discharging hundreds of units of demonic energy every minute, she wouldn't be able to keep up with them.

The three entered the forest. Some moments later, the sight of a green mushroom entered their eyes. It was as tall as a person.. And its head was shaped like a man's banana.
