Chapter 1333: Doom of Holy Rock City (Part 1)

Eleanor had no way of consoling Saleen, so she went to gather the army. She did not control any armies, but as her status changed and came to possess the family badge of Metatrin, she no longer needed appointment to command a large army.

The flying army was none other than the bug angel army. Eleanor went to gather the bug angels and brought Qin the archer with her. They went below the Floating City and prepared to strike.

Holy Rock City was incredibly sturdy. If the Floating City were to simply drop onto it, it would have ended up with both cities being severely damaged. As such, Saleen would not have done such a thing if there was no need for it. Mobilizing the bug angel army and working in conjunction with the magic net above would have more than sufficed.

The power of the Floating City was far stronger than it had been when attacking Alchemy City. A small number of enchanters were added to replenish the losses suffered from the last several battles.

Other than the bug angel army, Saleen had Nailisi gathered her demon army, preparing to drop onto Holy Rock City and fight on the ground. What his astrology had not been able to calculate were troubles more difficult to deal with.

It was fortunate that the plane rules on Myers Mainland had not been too loose. Only one or two level 13 beings appeared at times. Even then, they were quickly suppressed to level 12.

It was like how Fycro and Joey had both been level 10 professionals, yet both had been reluctant to haphazardly use any powerful skills. Doing so would have meant fighting against the rules of the plane.

It was not until the rules of the plane loosened that people like Joey and Fycro were able to be like fish in water. Not even one out of 10 level 10 ones who advanced possessed combat capacity to fight the likes of Joey and Fycro.

Jason was considered an exception. Every single advancement he achieved had been at a speed that Saleen was unable to comprehend.

The demon army of Nailisi was always maintained at 100,000 strong. Those demons formed the army that Nailisi painstakingly built. As long as the rule of power of demon plane loosened, the demons’ rate of advancement would become extremely fast.

For the time being, Nailisi had several hundred supreme demons under her command. Ten of them, which served as commanders in the army, had reached level 10.

Holy See’s power might have seen a considerable spike after the rules loosened, but it was the same with Saleen’s side. Due to calculating all of that, Saleen had been reluctant to put considerably more effort in nurturing the ancient warriors. He instead made the ancient warriors into a transitory force.

The ancient warriors were unable to be replicated, and there were only tens of thousands of them. If Saleen had relied on the ancient warriors as his main force to conquer the world, he might have ended up dying of regret.

After all, the most reliable thing in the world was still his own hands. It was an idiom among warriors, and it worked more or less the same for mages. Saleen had more faith in magic than he had in soldiers.

The Floating City was completely concealed within the clouds. There was lightning and thunder in the Floating City’s cloud, but it was not as powerful as in nature. The power imbued within the lightning was very weak and could not last more than a single frame.

Despite the lightning’s weak power, any who attempted to probe the cloud using mental powers would be blocked off by the lightning. Thunder mimicked by the weapon spirit also posed a great threat to professionals below level 13.

It was still fine probing the cloud using mental powers. In the case of beings like ghosts, they could use their soul powers to do so. They would end up being shaken to death by the weapon spirit’s thunder.

While the Floating City was enormous, no one was able to find out its true whereabouts from then on out. Nobody could simply check on any cloud they just happened to find above their heads. Lighting in nature was also very damaging to mental powers.

The Floating City came above Holy Rock City in three hours. Dark clouds gathered, hiding The Floating City. Saleen began checking what was going on below.

No one else would have dared to stay in the storm. Things were different with the Floating City. When lightning hit, it was absorbed and devoured by the magic power furnaces and converted into formidable power.

The giant’s bone crystals were the most concentrated form of earth element. Due to its vastness and thickness, the earth was capable of storing lightning. Many bolts of lightning in nature seeped into the earth.

While the Floating City were only 36 miles in diameter, the amount of earth element within was more concentrated than that of a nation spanning over a thousand miles. However, the Floating City enchanters dared not probe things below. In such a thunderstorm, only Saleen’s Eye of Lightning working in conjunction with his Element Eye was able to keep him from any harm while making observations.

Saleen peered downward and saw many fractures on the city’s body. The large-scale magic equipment at the walls was scattered everywhere. There were no soldiers to pick them up.

Sh*t!

Saleen took one look at the city’s edge and knew that Holy Rock City was doomed. The elemental storm raging at the royal palace at the city center was getting quelled, yet half of the palace was destroyed. There were dead bodies everywhere. Saleen even found an army of about 10,000-strong still holding on at the center of the palace.

The army was clad in royal swordsman garb. There were magical chariots in the army, and the mages riding them cast level 10 magic.

The royal swordsmen’s camp was surrounded by an army of hundreds of thousands. That other army was not only clad in iron armor, but there were also images of huge faces on their armor.

Abominated soldiers!

Saleen felt something was off. He searched around but was unable to find Lex. Jola, Sul, and Nicholas had not left any word behind.

Has Lex left? Who are the royal swordsmen protecting?

Saleen’s judgment told him that as long as the emperor was still alive, Lex would not give up on his brother. She wanted him to live, even if it was just for a single day more.

The army of royal swordsmen were able to take on powerful abominated soldiers, even when outnumbered. Saleen hesitated for a bit before giving an order.

“Isabella, take 20,000 bug angels with you and save the thousands of royal swordsmen down there,” he said. “Eleanor, stay put for the moment and protect Isabella.”

Saleen did not send Eleanor to the ground. Isabella might have only been level nine, but she was trained in both magic and martial arts. Not even golden grand swordmasters would be able to ambush her.

Isabella acknowledged her orders and charged through the clouds with 20,000 bug angels. The Bug Angel Armor was specifically crafted for his own troops, giving them immunity to lightning damage. Lightning did not occur in such a concentrated manner in nature. As long as the armor worn was not made out of steel, they would not attract lightning attacks.

Isabella rode on the Wings of an Elf and descended right on top of the palace with the bug angels.

“We are reinforcements from the Kingdom of Metatrin!” Isabella shouted using voice transmission magic.

The thousands of royal swordsmen struggled to hold on. When they saw tens of thousands of bugs coming their way in the rain, they thought the bugs had been reinforcements of the enemy. The royal swordsmen’s morale rose after hearing the leading female warrior shout.

Voom...

More than 10,000 bug angels charged into the midst of the army of abominations. The abominated soldiers were unable to react in time. They were cut up by the Wind Blades generated by the bug angels’ wings.

The attack quickly swept aside thousands of abominated soldiers. The other 10,000 Bug Angel Warriors headed toward the royal swordsmen. The warriors were frightened and instinctively evaded. The Bug Angel Warriors, on the other hand, stopped right before them.

Isabella shouted, “We’ll get you people up there. Leave the fighting to us!”

The Bug Angel Warriors spread out their six legs and grabbed the soldiers from the royal swordsmen’s camp, flying up when they were done.

The abominated soldiers cut up by the Wind Blades were able to climb up again since their wounds quickly mended. Most of the troops were bisected or their heads were sent flying. They were unable to gain a whole form.

Only the troops who had complete bodies were able to grab weapons and retaliate. The Bug Angel Warriors unleashed Wind Blades again, slicing the barricade off.

The thousands of royal swordsmen watched in fright as they were taken to the air. The thunder was shocking within the clouds. All of them were at least level five professionals and elite soldiers of Holy Rock City. There were even over 1,000 grand swordmasters-to-be among them, yet all of them looked ashen in the thunderstorm.

It was not due to those soldiers having no guts. There was simply no one who was about to pass through a thunderstorm and not get frightened. Even beings as powerful as Saleen would have found it hard to compose themselves flying in an environment like that, let alone the soldiers. At the very least, Saleen would have been completely safe flying in such environments. The bug angels, on the other hand, had to depend on luck.

Their armor only ensured that they would not attract lightning. If they were to actually be coincidentally caught in the way of a lightning bolt, they would be instantly fried since there was no way their defensive parameters could resist the devastating power of natural lightning. If thunder were to happen right beside them, the shock would have reduced them to dust.

Things had gotten tricky when escorting the mages. The mages who had been riding on the magic chariots refused to be escorted in flight by the Bug Angel Warriors. Isabella was forced to leave four Wings of an Elf behind and have the level 10 mages fly with them.

Wings of an Elf was crafted using thundercloud wood. As long as they were not struck head on by lightning, the mages would be able to make it past the clouds.

One young mage still refused to get on. That mage was a level nine sorcerer and shouted at Isabella, “His Highness is still underground! Save him!”

Isabella eyed the sorcerer coldly. That sorcerer returned the stare without the slightest hint of fear.

“Follow me up there and talk to my liege. I’m not familiar with the underground, and I don’t have what it takes to save him,” Isabella said as she waved at the sorcerer.

The young sorcerer hesitated for a bit before stepping onto Isabella’s Wings of an Elf. Both were capable of flight. If they were to leave the equipment, they would not have been able to pass through the clouds.

The Bug Angel Warriors saved most of the royal swordsmen in mere moments, leaving four magic chariots and hundreds of dead bodies behind, as they made for the Floating City.

Eleanor hovered in the rain. Her Wings of an Elf was the only true incarnation. Only elves were able to man it. Lightning flashed around her, but she was not scared. She had guidance from Saleen regarding lightning rules, so she knew how to evade lightning in the rain.

She held onto Seven Nights. The rain was unable to latch onto her, forming a spherical dry area. Her elvish sight allowed her to see the ground clearly despite such a height.

There were a large number of crawling monsters on the ground, scurrying about the city. There were monsters charging into buildings at the side of the road, where either sounds of battle or shrieks were heard.

Eleanor fumed as she saw all of it, but she was unable to save anyone. There were simply too many monsters. The power of some of the monsters was probably on par with that of level nine humans. If she wanted to hunt them down, she would need to use powerful attacks. The stronger an attack, the fewer times it could have been used.
