Jola scrunched his face and said, “I need to protect Master Saleen, I cannot stay too far away.”
“You are loyal, would you consider following me? A death mage has the power to extend one’s life.” Aini tempted.
“I have signed a contract with Master Saleen.” Jola replied aggrievedly. He could not reject the death mage’s kind intentions yet he could not agree to it.
“Ah, that is a pity.” Aini spat out the death flames. Lying against the bed, he let the death flames float above his body. The room was bathed in a green glow, Jola sat painfully on the ground. It was not that he did not want to leave, but this was closer to the pretty women. If he were to stay in the opposite room, he would have less of a chance of getting close to them.
Jola was from the Qin Empire, but he grew up in the Cloudflow Empire. He had an incredible fear of death mages. He was not afraid of death, he was afraid of becoming a spirit. If he became a spirit, he would not lust after pretty women. That was something scarier than dying to him. If he was a pure Qin Empire person, this fear would be much lesser. Death mages were not perverts, why would they change anyone into spirits? If death mages liked doing such stuff, they would not be respected in the Qin Empire.
Irene was more dejected than Jola, her experience out in the sea did not mean much to Saleen. What was more infuriating was that Saleen had brought Nailisi into his room and closed the door to “train”. Who knew what the two of them were doing?
The happiest person on the boat was Sika. She was finally back by Saleen’s side and even though she had the awakening of the priestess, her thoughts were simple. She was happy to be beside Saleen. She had already made clear plans with her return this time.
The Pan’s Turtle alchemical boat steered silently under the ice cover towards the north-east. The five low-grade mages were controlling it expertly. They were all from Sregl Island and knew how to read a sea map and use a magic compass. Using the magic array to control the ship was not a difficult task. The only thing they had to learn was to avoid the reefs in the sea by observing the images sent back by the Eye of the Dead. In actual fact, even if they struck against a reef, the ship would not be damaged. It was still cruising slowly and was moving around forty miles an hour, this could save a huge number of magic nuclei.
If it was not to familiarize the mages with the workings of the ship, they could achieve such speeds by driving it with the spirit pool.
Saleen was not lacking with this magic nuclei. This was because If they met with any danger, the winged skeleton could control the magic array on the ship more precisely, letting him steer the ship was a waste.
“Master, what are you doing?” Nailisi laid on the bed and asked Saleen, she could not hold her boredom in. Among his water flame, there was a thin weapon. Nailisi had a feeling that the material of this weapon was the backbone of the Tiago giant dragon. The backbone of the Tiago dragon was unusually thick, but now it was even thinner than her wrist.
Processing the dragon bone to such an extent must have cost Saleen much time.
“It’s a weapon for you.” Saleen controlled it with all his might, letting as little snow as possible come from the Water Flame Alchemy spell. By his side, a six and the half meter long dragon scroll surrounded him. The temperature had been separated by Saleen and the room did not become ice cold. Such processing was an immense training for his control.
“Master, I already have a weapon.”
“You will like this new weapon.” Saleen laughed, he had realized he had a special talent for designing weapons. In the water flame, the dragon bone of the Tiago dragon had become a whip. this soft whip was slowly shortening bit by bit, devouring itself. It quickly shortened to less than a foot.
This was a snow-white dagger. Compared to the original Dragon Tooth Dagger, this dagger that was processed by a dragon bone could not become a ring. There were no magic patterns on the dagger either, only a trough at the end to inlay gemstones.
It was incredibly sleek, smooth, sharp, and balanced.
Saleen painfully took out a dimension stone and inlaid into the strange looking trough. The dimension stone seemed to have melted as it was concealed within the trough, forming a triangular magic pattern.
Saleen threw the dagger to Nailisi and said, “Lex has created a few weapons for you, but they have all been destroyed. No matter how good the material of a weapon is, if it isn’t suited for you, it will suffer the same fate. You have strong powers but they haven’t been trained properly. I have created this weapon especially for you, using a dimension stone. If you like it, it is worth it.”
“Master, this is specially designed for me?” Nailisi grabbed the dagger happily, holding it in her palm. A weird feeling rose from within her heart, this dagger seemed to be a part of her…
Nailisi flicked her wrist and the triangle pattern at the end of the dagger rippled together with it. The sharp blade at the front of the dagger was flung out as the entire dagger became a long whip. This whip was incredibly similar to Nailisi’s tail.
“At the end of the day, Master knows me best.” Nailisi squinted as she touched every joint of the dragon bone on the long whip. This dragon bone had been processed to the maximum. The three sides had formed a sharp blade. Nailisi swung the snow-white whip, feeling as if she had another tail. She could control it easily.
Even though demons had a memory lineage, most of the time they fought based on instincts. A dagger was most suitable for Nailisi, but this long whip would allow Nailisi’s combat patterns to be more varied. This was because she had a tail similar to it.
“Our future enemies will mostly come from the Sacred Holy See. Nailisi, try your best not to reveal your original form in the future.” Saleen reminded her patiently. Once Nailisi met with danger, she would return to her original demon form. Even though after evolving she looked incredibly human-like, anyone could tell that her tail belonged to the demon tribe.
Nailisi flicked back the long whip and the four meter long whip retracted, it became the snow-white dagger again in her hands.
The most intricate part about this weapon was that because the dimension stone was within it, when it was a dagger, an enemy would not be able to tell that the dagger could have other transformations. A dagger was the shortest weapon and if it suddenly became a long weapon during combat, it would have unexpected outcomes.
The dragon’s backbone withstood all the energy of it and was a hundred times tougher than a dragon tooth. Saleen had processed it to its maximum. Even though a dragon bone was not as sharp as a dragon tooth, its toughness was something that a dragon tooth could not be compared with.
A dragon tooth could regrow if it had broken, it was brittle. The backbone of the dragon on the other hand had grown out in the entire lifetime of the dragon, until it became an adult dragon.
Nailisi was overjoyed, she only had two of the eight powers she could possess. The powers of the giant dragon and the lightning protection from the lightning dragon. This weapon came at the perfect time. If she had this earlier, she would not have had such a hard time when fighting with the black bishop.
“Master, I will protect you well.” Nailisi licked the sharp blade of the dagger, feeling the taste of the giant dragon on it.
“I am giving you this weapon in hopes that you do not die. Nailisi, you are a demon, you will live hundreds of times longer than me. If one day I were to die, you have a chance to return to the demon dimension. I have heard that it is very dangerous and you are only an imp. I have to leave you with something to keep you safe. This dagger has the dimension stone in it, you need to feed it with your blood. It will have unimaginable powers in time to come.”
“Master, why would you die? You will live for hundreds of thousands of years.” Nailisi giggled, but a bitter feeling welled up in her heart. “Saleen that bastard, he made it sound so sad. He must be lying to me, right?”
“Nailisi, I am really not confident. Sregl Island is strong enough and I have a secret interdimensional space too. The Holy See… even Emperor Chanake was killed though. Do you know how strong he was? Until now, we haven’t come across any elite yet that can be compared to Emperor Chanake. Compared to him, it is like the Gods descending.”
“What’s the use of saying all this? We are bound by a contract.” Nailisi suddenly sat up, she realized she was very afraid of Saleen dying. Right now, this terror was not because the death of Saleen would hurt her soul.
“There are loopholes in a soul contract, I am researching it. When I am done researching, I will return your freedom to you.” Saleen smiled, lying on the bed. His words hung in the air like a stone.
“Damned freedom!” Nailisi shouted in her heart, yet she could only hug Saleen from behind. Extending her long tongue, she swooped it in front of Saleen and licked his nose.
“I have lived for eighteen years, I am satisfied. Who else can be like me, becoming a grade-5 mage from nothing in such a short time? I have killed a bishop from the Holy See, cheated a demon, become good friends with a viscountess, control a death mage, and a grand swordmaster. Heh, Nailisi, don’t you think I’m a genius?”
“Master, you are the greatest genius on Myers Mainland. You even managed to trick the three kings. Those three fools, no doubt they are spirits. They do not have any hearts or brains.”
“Haha, I’m starting to believe the words of a demon.” Saleen stood up and grabbed Nailisi and said, “Let’s go and eat, they must be running out of patience.”
On the first floor of the cabin, Aini and the rest were waiting by the table. The winged skeleton called upon two more blood winged skeleton to bring serve them food. Irene had no appetite. The food was delicious, but the blood winged skeletons were too disgusting. Even Aini had lost his appetite.
Only Sika had not. She placed her cudgel on the table, taking up one side of the table. One of her legs stepped on the chair, she was using her boomerang to slice up the smoked meat.
Jola looked on, he had not expected such a pretty lady to have such an open side to her.
“Soldier, bring these two away!” Saleen was not disgusted by them but he could understand how Aini and the rest felt.
“Master, it is just a small joke.” The winged skeleton’s voice sounded within Saleen’s heart, Saleen was stunned as he looked on with a smile. The winged skeleton had finally gotten out from Daniel’s shadow and was no longer cold and unfeeling.
