Eleanor’s Elf Bow might be a powerful weapon, but without a crystal arrow with space attributes, it would not be able to unleash its might. Even Black William, who was so powerful, almost died when he got hit by that crystal arrow. It simply showed how powerful the attributes of the crystal arrow were.
The materials of a crystal arrow were too costly and rare though. Saleen had only made one for Eleanor.
Eleanor had never succeeded in producing a crystal arrow before, otherwise she would not have gotten injured during the pink army’s infighting. If she was not injured, coupled with the ability of the bangle, Jola would not have been able to capture her that easily.
“Go help Master,” Nailisi instructed the four demons.
The four demons alighted from the chariot. While aboard the chariot, their powers did not receive any amplification. The gifted magic of a demon was unlike that of an abyssal creature. Most of their spells were not elemental magic, and these spells were not really affected by any planar restrictions.
Since they were not restrained, they would not be able to enjoy the amplification effect either.
Nailisi did not get down from the chariot. She looked at Eleanor, then said, “I am very sorry for taking your bangle, but the item has been given to Cuisi. I cannot get it back either. I have witnessed the power of your crystal arrow. Does it mean that a crystal arrow can be produced as long as there are materials with space attributes?”
“Yes.” Eleanor did not know why Nailisi mentioned her bangle.
“If you impart your archery skills to me, I will ask Master to help produce special arrows for you, their power will be similar to that of a crystal arrow.” Seeing that Eleanor did not respond, Nailisi continued, “I have observed that you have the intention of following Master, that’s why I pleaded on your behalf. These materials aren’t any cheaper than crystals. I only want to learn your archery skills, it shouldn’t go against…”
Nailisi did not express her thoughts explicitly, so Eleanor nodded and said, “I cannot guarantee that you will be able to master them.”
“I will grasp it, I have always been a good student.” Nailisi laughed profoundly. “If I don’t master them, I can simply eat you and absorb the blood of an elf.”
Nailisi did not deceive Eleanor though, she was in possession of a huge number of divinecherry wood pieces which were obtained from the sunken ships. The second dynasty had chopped down many divinecherry trees in the abyssal plane, using the wood to create crates. Divinecherry wood was abundant in the First Abyss. Since humans could no longer travel to the abyssal plane, it had become unusually expensive.
Divinecherry wood could be used to craft spatial equipment, but it was more suitable for making arrows, especially the arrows for an Elf Bow. An arrow produced from divinecherry wood also had the ability to travel through space, allowing the arrow to reach insane velocities. As long as the archer had an accurate aim, a divinecherry wood arrow would behave like a crystal arrow. It could suddenly appear in the enemy’s body.
The production process of such an arrow took up too much time. Even though Saleen was a proficient mage in the Water Flame Alchemy, he could only produce one arrow per day. If he had to produce a quiver of twenty-four arrows, then he would have to spend a month making them. In this one month, the he could not do anything else, he would not even have the time for meals.
Of course, a large alchemy laboratory could also produce arrows like this, but the depletion would be pretty horrifying.
This was a common problem among special equipment, especially depletion-type equipment. The production process required a long time, strict standards, and a huge amount of resources. The finished product would also be rendered worthless after a short time of usage.
On the elf plane, a powerful elf would only carry three of such arrows because the materials were rare. The elves did not possess profound magic like the humans, so it was more tedious for them to produce such arrows.
Saleen could still manage the production of such equipment, and increase his proficiency in the Water Flame Alchemy at the same time. A long production time meant that his magic practice would be postponed, which might not be worth it though.
Lex sat on the sidelines. Seeing that Nailisi could persuade Eleanor with just a few words, Lex was envious. “Saleen’s demon is too useful.”
Eleanor was undisturbed as she was different from everyone else. She still had a long life ahead, but she did not have many demands. She only had two wishes. Firstly, that she might get the opportunity to see the marquis again. Secondly, if possible, she wanted to go home, to return to the elf plane. On this plane, she was too lonely as she did not have any companions of the same race.
It was not unacceptable for her to follow Saleen. As for the secret skill of elves, part of them had been leaked when she gave Saleen that drawing. Revealing more secrets would not be a big deal anymore. If Saleen did not lend a hand, Eleanor would have difficulty surviving because her powers were drastically reduced after losing the bangle.
Eleanor was very clear on why Saleen kept her by his side, it was because she had knowledge Saleen needed. Saleen wanted to learn, and to a mage, that was the biggest reason to do something.
In the years where the marquis was missing, Eleanor operated the pink army. She did so because she wanted the marquis to know that she was helping him sustain his family assets when he eventually returned. She did not have any attachment to the army, she was an elf, not a human.
“Anyway, I am a mage. When the contract is being signed, a time limit can be added in. When the marquis returns, I will leave Saleen.”
Unbeknownst to Eleanor, those who had been picked up by Nailisi would no longer have a chance to leave.
As Saleen flew in the air, he opened the silver magic book. Casting an Icewall Spell, he separated the beatles and the swordmasters temporarily. He then began using the Green Spirit rock to store those beatles.
Saleen only did some simple actions. When an Ice Bomb Spell descended onto the ground, it would strike a beatle, and freeze it for almost a second. Saleen would then forcefully seal this affected beatle in the Green Spirit immediately.
The quality of this Green Spirit rock was not high, but the size of the beatles was not very large either. After storing about three-hundred beatles, Saleen threw the rock into the Dimension Stone. The Dimension Stone was not normal spatial equipment. Even if the beatles broke free from the Green Spirit, they would not be able to escape from the Dimension Stone.
The magic war chariots went around the wall of ice, and all the mages began acting in sync with Saleen’s Ice Bomb spell. If the Mechanical Soul had not met Bain, it would not be broken so easily. If a person like Saleen was not around, the broken Mechanical Soul would be able to regain its powers quickly through devouring, before reorganizing itself.
The Sindika stopped in his tracks. Seeing that the Mechanical Soul was getting destroyed by a group of humans up ahead, the Sindika grew hesitant. He was already seriously injured, having lost most of his abilities, so he was only left with his sturdy body now. His body had already lost a layer of skin, and it would require at least one to two months for a full recovery. For the time being, the Sindika would not be able to resist most attacks.
“Should I provoke these humans?”
After Saleen stored all the fragments of the Mechanical Soul, he stared at the Sindika who was a few hundred yards away. Bain was actually staring at Saleen from the sidelines. This young mage was the most intelligent one he had seen before. Of course, this young mage was very wealthy too. Even if other mages thought of such an idea, they would not have the Dimension Stone.
Seeing that Wild Bear was fine, Jola went to Saleen, then asked, “Are we going to deal with that monster?”
“Let’s see what Lex thinks.” Saleen neither agreed nor refused.
At this point in time, they were at the periphery of the area of rainfall. Due to the wind, they would not experience much rain even if they did not move about. The abyssal creature had such a humongous body, it would be a good source of food for the lightning dragons.
The question was, was it worthwhile to attack this abyssal creature?
“We…” Lex wanted to leave, but a black hole suddenly appeared between Saleen and the Sindika. This black hole had a diameter of a wellhead. A bug wriggled out of it.
“Magic bug!”
Lex’s men had witnessed the terror of magic bugs. When these things were in small numbers, even farmers could kill them with a pickaxe. When their numbers got huge, their lethality would increase exponentially.
All the mages exclaimed, “A planar passageway!”
From the principles of magic, a planar teleportation portal could be established as long as there was sufficient energy available. Before the birth of teleportation portals, legend had it that creatures relied on planar passageways to traverse the planes.
Back then when humans participated in wars, besides the ground troops, the experts would directly open planar passageways. A wide planar passageway could allow an army to pass through, while the smaller ones could only fit one or two people.
This was not some remote knowledge. The moment Saleen saw the appearance of the passageway, his expression turned ghastly. Gesturing at Bain, he returned to the magic war chariot. Just now, Saleen had no choice but to leave the chariot because he had to use the Green Spirit to put away the beatles. In order to conserve mental strength and the magic chords to increase offensive power, it was still safer to seek refuge in the chariot.
“This is a chaotic space.” Lex’s face was also very gloomy. Everyone knew that the Purgatory Desert was a perilous place, but they never expected it to be this dangerous. Soon after entering the desert, they were drawn into a sandstorm, causing them to tumble into a chaotic space.
The chaotic space was not an individual plane, it was still on the Myers mainland. Such a space was in extreme disorder. Planar passageways could appear anytime, connecting to other planes.
It was no wonder then that the sun could not be seen, and bearings could not be determined.
“It seems like this chaotic space has just appeared, I don’t know how long it will last for.” Saleen knew that a chaotic space was not permanent, it would not last for a long duration. In such a space, one had no way of exiting it, unless they possessed the mighty abilities of ancient humans to tear through space at will.
“There is no way of determining its duration, we have to depend on luck. Since this is a chaotic space, any direction will be the same. Let’s kill that Sindika, and divide the materials equally, what do you say?”
Saleen felt that Lex was being too formal. In the past, whenever there was such an event, there was not even a need for discussion, the outcome would always be equal shares. Saleen immediately realized that that was because he was on a solo adventure with Lex. At the moment, Lex had brought along powerful assassins, grand swordmasters, swordmasters, and grand mages. Of course the share of profits had to be made known beforehand.
“That Sindika seems to be injured, it doesn’t seem like it can cast any magic.”
“Let Wild Bear give it a shot and we will know.” Speaking, Lex summoned Wild Bear to the chariot. She took out the twelve pole javelins from the God’s Ring, while Saleen gave Wild Bear a skeletal warhorse.
“Attack that fellow from one-hundred yards away, I will instruct the magic war chariots to back you up from a distance of fifty yards.”
“Viscountess, give me a new shield.” Wild Bear displayed his gigantic shield. Scars were strewn across this shield. Under the intense chewing of the beatles from the Mechanical Soul, this Magic Shield was gravely damaged, the largest scar almost sliced through it.
