Lex had no idea what Nailisi was planning. She did not let the demon army out as opening the twelve Notes of Purgatory would take up a lot of energy and the entering of ten-thousand demons had already left Nailisi feeling exhausted.

After asking for badges, Nailisi requested for another two death mages and quite a large amount of magic liquid. Instead of flying, Nailisi rushed to Sanlian City riding on a skeletal warhorse.

Although Nailisi missed Saleen very much, she did not display it at all. It was only when she was about to depart that she gave a letter to Saleen.

“This is from Sister Sika. Read it at night when you are alone.”

There was a complicated mixture of feelings in Saleen when he sent Nailisi off. Nevertheless, he knew that at that point in time, he could only move forward and not look back. Too many people depended on him and Nailisi was just one of the more complicated ones.

Saleen and Lex continued to prepare for their wedding, which had already reached the stage of rehearsals. There were many rules of the palace to be followed for a King’s wedding ceremony. Fortunately, Saleen’s Metatrin Kingdom was a new country, so the palace rules were not as strict as the Qin Empire’s.

After leaving Daliang City, Nailisi led two death mages and more than four-hundred death knights towards Sanlian City.

The lands occupied by Lex were the best parts of Luolan. It was a huge flat plain that could cultivate hundreds of different types of plants. Mountains appeared only after more than six-hundred miles west from Daliang City.

Over there, there was a pass where Lex had stationed only ten-thousand elite soldiers while the remaining twenty-thousand were auxiliary soldiers. Nailisi did not stop there at all. She continued on towards the west, heading straight towards Sanlian City.

She had the badge, seal, and ring given to her by Lex. She was now part of the official armies sent to reinforce Sanlian City. Since the documents were in place, she would have no issues going through the city gates.

After the pass, there were five-hundred miles of open plains that were unguarded. If Sanlian City was lost, this piece of land would belong to Tanggulasi. Back when Lex chased the Tanggulasis out of Sanlian City, it took more than one-hundred-thousand men. Of the warriors that were injured, more than half of them were no longer able to serve in the military and had to become farmers.

Nailisi was full of energy and the death mages did not seem to require too much rest either. They were surrounded by death knights and the entire group traveled for a thousand miles until they were finally one-hundred miles away from Sanlian City. Sanlian City was not a pass and small groups of Tanggulasi soldiers might appear from the east, so Nailisi stopped.

She said to the two grade-4 death mages, “The two of you will help me keep a lookout. I am going to release the demon army. If we encounter anyone from the Tanggulasi Empire, just use your scrolls. No need to hesitate.”

“Yes, Lord Nailisi.” The two grand mages replied to Nailisi respectfully.

Nailisi smiled. The scales on her face began to grow and her body expanded very quickly. The spirits retreated. Compared to humans, spirits were much more sensitive to the aura of devils.

In the blink of an eye, Nailisi’s body had already expanded to more than twenty yards tall. Although transforming into a devil would not boost Nailisi’s special abilities, at least her strength would surpass almost all humans.

The twelve Notes of Purgatory were opened and Nailisi summoned the demons out through the black door using the demonic language. The two death mages could only stare in shock.

The demons were disciplined. They walked out in rows behind their officers as they formed a rectangular formation. The death knights spread apart, but still remained on their guard. When the demon general finally walked out, it knelt in front of Nailisi to await her order.

Nailisi distributed the badges, war banners, and crossbows that Lex has prepared for them. Without the magic symbols, even if the armies of Sanlian City were notified by Lex of their arrival, they would probably still not dare to let them in.

Death mages were typically very brave, so they quickly got used to seeing so many demons. The demons that Nailisi had chosen were four to five yards tall. Aside from horns, scales, and tails, the rest of their features were very similar to humans. The demons all wore the same armor with the badges on their chest.

The badges were magic equipment and their sole purpose was to prove the wearer’s identity as they could not be replicated.

The demons were all a little dispirited after being kept in the twelve Notes of Purgatory so long. After they had all been gathered together, Nailisi ordered them to rest and have their meals.

The demons all sat down and began to consume the magic bugs in the huge leather skins that they carried with them. Usually, if demons were not injured, they would eat only once every half a month in order to maintain their strength and energy. Each time they ate, they would eat much more than humans though. If they consumed human grain, the demon army’s logistics would face a problem as it would use up more than three times a normal human army’s rations.

Nevertheless, after taking into considerations the strong survivability of demons, such usage was still acceptable.

Due to the issue of materials, the six types of devil armors were simplified by Saleen to create a low-level version of devil flying armor. This type of armor allowed for simple flying and would only require grade-4 magic nuclei. One would only be able to fly up to sixty-yards over a very short distance, so its main usage was to help the wearer overcome obstacles like city walls.

The ten-thousand demons were given a total of sixty-thousand grade-4 nuclei. In order to ensure the soldiers had sufficient combat abilities, it was necessary to invest in equipment.

After the demons had eaten, they rested for a while and in less than two hours, they had fully regained their energy. If it were humans that were kept in the twelve Notes of Purgatory instead, they would need more than half a day in order to make a full recovery.

After regaining their energy, the demon army set off for Sanlian City. A distance of more than one-hundred miles was not considered long, even by human standards. If they were without burdens, the humans on the Myers Mainland would be able to travel for half a day at a speed of ten miles per hour without rest.

On the other hand, the humans on the subcontinental plane had much weaker physiques.

Similar to magic beasts, the demons traveled on foot for twenty miles and finally reached Sanlian City after more than five hours. Sanlian City was made of three parts less than twenty miles away from each other and it was built according to the terrain. It managed to save on a lot of manpower and resources during the construction process. The three cities were built on a mountain range.

As the cities were less than twenty miles away from each other, they could send aid to each other anytime. Nailisi headed straight for the city in the middle as the army was led by the two death mages and two-hundred death knights.

The main army of Tanggulasi was on the west side while there was a small troop of enemies on the east. The scouts in the city never stopped patrolling the area. As the demon army looked too frightening and intimidating, the small troop of Tanggulasis made no attempt to intervene. When the scouts of Sanlian City saw the demon army, they still trembled in fear even though they were already expecting them.

These scouts were elite soldiers too, but naturally they were still scared to see so many demons for the first time. The main reason was the devil form that Nailisi had transformed into. A twenty yard tall devil was simply too terrifying to the soldiers.

Fortunately, all the documents were in place and the scouts had already received a heads-up, so they did not make a fool of themselves. They managed to suppress the fear in their hearts and led the spirit army into Sanlian City.

The main general of Sanlian City belonged to a noble family. He was only a grade-3 Marquis, but he was already going beyond his grade by leading one-hundred-thousand men and horses. Lex did not have too many capable people. The Marquis was loyal and rather capable, so putting him in charge of defending Sanlian City was definitely the right choice.

If this Marquis was in charge of attacking, then that might be a different story.

The arrival of Nailisi’s demon army caused a commotion in Sanlian City. When Daliang City sent one-hundred-thousand men over in response to the Marquis’ request for reinforcements, the latter still felt that it would be difficult to hold the city. The distances between the three cities were very close, so knights could be deployed between them for reinforcements. The Holy See had deployed many blood knights and if a battle was to be fought on an open field, only the heavy-armored knights and soldiers of Bitter Water Prefecture would stand a chance against them.

After a few rounds of battles, Sanlian City suffered many losses and the one-hundred-thousand soldiers sent there for reinforcements would only help to hold the city for another half a month or so.

Nailisi’s arrival gave the Marquis hope. When he first heard of a demon army, he was terrified, but that soon gave way to excitement. After all, demons were nothing compared to their enemy, the Holy See.

If the Holy See were to succeed in taking over Bitter Water Prefecture, many would be converted into disciples in no time. Those that chose not to convert would be burned to death. Their children, who were unaware of what had happened, would join the Holy See. Two generations later, many churches would appear on this piece of land.

This was the Holy War and the people of Holy See would use the most cruel ways and means to convert their enemies, rather than influencing them.

The Marquis did not wish to see his children and grandchildren become disciples so he was willing to fight to the death.

Most Qin noble families thought the same way. The Tanggulasi Empire was a good example, where there was no longer any honor or glory attached to the noble families there.

Despite mentally preparing himself, the Marquis still felt weak when he saw Nailisi. He was already considered a talent amongst noble families and was a zun grand swordmaster.

Nailisi exuded an incredibly powerful aura. Behind her was the demon army.

Nailisi lowered her head and said to the Marquis, “Marquis, what is your name?”

“Ferdinand.” The Marquis swallowed his saliva. Nailisi had already tried to tone down her voice, but it was still extremely loud. The gigantic devil could speak in the human language? That would make things much easier.

“I need a space to station the army. They don’t need barracks or beds, only flat ground. This is the diagram...” With that, Nailisi threw a magic diagram for Marquis Ferdinand before continuing, “Build some toilets for me. The demons loved to eat meat. Without the toilets, I’m afraid your men will not be able to stand the smell of demons.”

Marquis Ferdinand felt more at ease after what Nailisi said. The demons were still considerate of their human counterparts. He only needed to build some demon toilets and not some special camps. This was easier than he thought.

“Ferdinand, my army will not hurt your soldiers. They may eat some of the enemies as it may be difficult to get supplies, so you need to be prepared.”

The expression on Ferdinand’s face changed completely. Eat enemies? They would become notorious immediately if word got out!
