Be A Son-in-law After Cultivating Immortality

Chapter 3

Chapter 3

C3 – Brother Deity?

“How did you get your medical degree? Weren’t you the one who claimed a single injection would cure my Yuh? Why is she still unwell? Mark my words, if her condition isn’t improved today, you haven’t seen the last of me. Do you know who I am? Are you aware of my brother’s identity?”

The tone was decidedly haughty. “My brother is Chen Loong, a name everyone around here recognizes. He’s known as Elder Brother Loong. A single phone call from me could bring this lackluster clinic to its knees!” The voice oozed arrogance.

Ye Yu then heard the concerned voice of Yan Xue. “Mr. Chen, there’s no need to be alarmed. This is a minor ailment. Another acupuncture session should suffice for her complete recovery.”

“Fine, I’ll place my trust in you once more,” the haughty voice resurfaced, “But if my Yuh isn’t cured, be prepared for the consequences!”

Ye Yu had reached the doorway by now and observed several individuals within. Among them were Yan Xue and a younger doctor. A couple was also present, along with an 11 or 12-year-old girl lying on a hospital bed.

The young girl had been incessantly weeping, her sobs noticeably loud. A single glance from Ye Yu was enough to ascertain that something was amiss with the girl.

Upon administering another round of acupuncture, Yan Xue succeeded in calming the little girl. The parents, seeing this, were visibly comforted.

Observing the scene, Yan Xue exhaled a sigh of relief. Just then, Ye Yu entered and commented, “Proceeding this way, I doubt you’ll manage to fully cure her.”

“You’re here?” Yan Xue’s expression shifted. She looked directly at Ye Yu and retorted, “You have no idea what you’re talking about. Keep your uninformed opinions to yourself!”

“Who is he?” Mr. Chen looked at Ye Yu and asked.

Before Yan Xue could respond, a doctor beside her sneered, “Who is he? Dr. Yan’s husband, a man without a job!”

Ye Yu recognized this doctor. He was Lin Wei, a physician from this clinic. Rumor had it he held feelings for Yan Xue, though she never reciprocated.

“So you’re just a man leeching off a woman. What do you know? Why are you gesturing at me?” Mr. Chen retorted.

Chen Hu hailed from an affluent background, his father being a magnate in Jinghai City. This lineage made Chen Hu view himself as superior, often overlooking the people in such small establishments.

“Enough! I’m just relieved that Yuh is fine now,” Lee Ya, Chen Hu’s wife, interjected.

Suddenly, a piercing cry erupted. It came from the young girl in the hospital bed.

“What’s happening, Dr. Yan? Explain why Yuh is still crying. If she doesn’t stop, she could suffocate!” Chen Hu demanded, glaring at Yan Xue.

“I… I’m at a loss myself,” Yan Xue replied, visibly distressed and uncertain about her next steps.

Yan Xue had initially diagnosed the little girl with a mild cold. But to her shock, the child’s condition seemed to rapidly deteriorate beyond her understanding.

Seeing this, Chen Hu was enraged. He raised his hand, intending to strike Yan Xue.

“Darling!” Lee Ya shouted, trying to intervene, but Chen Hu brushed her aside, still aiming for Yan Xue.

Lin Wei paled in fear, unwilling to confront Chen Hu. Yan Xue braced herself, knowing she couldn’t dodge the impending blow.

Yet, the anticipated slap never landed. When Yan Xue opened her eyes, she saw Ye Yu shielding her. Who else could have intervened but him?

In that moment, Ye Yu seemed larger than life to Yan Xue. With a firm grip, he held Chen Hu’s wrist, immobilizing him.

Chen Hu’s expression shifted. A formidable man himself, capable of taking on several adversaries, he found himself paralyzed by Ye Yu’s hold. Clearly, Ye Yu was no ordinary individual.

“What honor is there in hitting a woman? If you seek a fight, face me,” Ye Yu said, his chilling gaze locking onto Chen Hu, causing him to retreat in fear.

Had Ye Yu tapped into his Immortal Emperor’s strength, Chen Hu would have been overwhelmed just by his presence.

Ye Yu had no intentions of escalating the conflict, but he wouldn’t stand by and let anyone harm Yan Xue, his wife in all but name.

“Fine, I won’t strike her. But what of my daughter?” Chen Hu queried, pointing at Chen Yu.

“Children cry. She might quiet down in time,” Ye Yu replied composedly.

Lin Wei almost chuckled at Ye Yu’s words, shaking his head. “Mr. Ye, don’t feign expertise. You’re clueless. Chen Yu has been crying non-stop. If this persists, she could die from oxygen deprivation!”

“If this clinic can’t heal my daughter, I’ll ensure it’s shut down!” Chen Hu raged, confronting both Yan Xue and Lin Wei.

Amidst the chaos, no one realized Ye Yu had approached Chen Yu’s bedside. A soft luminescence emanated from his finger, captivating the young girl’s attention.

“Alright, you will be fine soon!” Ye Yu said.

“Are you… perhaps a Divine Immortal? My mother mentioned that such beings possess magical abilities and can heal all ailments. Why did you heal me without the use of injections?” With wide eyes, Chen Yu observed Ye Yu and commented, “Your hands are so comforting, reminiscent of my mother’s touch.”

“A Divine Immortal, you might say that,” Ye Yu responded, grinning.

To Ye Yu, Chen Yu’s ailment was trivial. If he chose, he had the power to cure her effortlessly!

“What’s your intention? Stay away!” Chen Hu, spotting Ye Yu nearing Chen Yu, hurried over in a frenzied state, yelling, “What have you done to my Yuh?”

Chen Hu attempted to shove Ye Yu aside but realized that moving Ye Yu was like trying to move an immovable mountain. Yet, Ye Yu gracefully stepped back and calmly replied, “I haven’t harmed Yuh. It might be best if she remains here tonight. Perhaps, she’ll be better by morning.”

“Darling, look, Yuh’s not crying anymore. She seems better!” Lee Ya interjected.

The others present also realized Chen Yu wasn’t shedding tears any longer.

“I’ll examine her once more,” Yan Xue stepped up, but Chen Hu halted her attempt.

“Stay away. My trust in you is gone!” Chen Hu adamantly obstructed Yan Xue, raising his voice.

Lee Ya, concerned, approached and took Chen Yu’s hand, asking, “Yuh, are you okay?”

“I’m alright, Mom. Please don’t be upset. The Brother Deity rescued me,” Chen Yu whispered feebly.

“Brother Deity?” Lee Ya mulled over this, scanning the room until her gaze settled on Ye Yu. Amongst those present, only Ye Yu fit the description of the “Brother Deity” Chen Yu referenced.

“Brother Deity? Yuh’s delirious. My dear, we need to get Yuh to a reliable hospital. I won’t let these impostors touch her!” Chen Hu exclaimed as he lifted Chen Yu. In a stern tone, he added, “Mark my words. If you fail to heal my Yuh today, my brother will ensure this shoddy clinic is shut down. Let’s leave!”

As Chen Hu exited, Lee Ya turned to Yan Xue, remorse evident in her eyes. “I apologize, Dr. Yan. My husband’s distress led him astray. And Mr. Ye, please forgive his behavior. I’ll try to calm him down.”
