Chapter 277: Grandpa, I Missed You So Much
“I loved the fishballs from this store.” Chi Jiao stuffed two fishballs into her mouth at once. Her cheeks were puffed up like a hamster’s, and she smiled until her eyes were narrowed. “I’ve loved them since that old granny wasn’t an old granny yet.”
She had eaten them for more than ten years.
Quan Jue looked at her satisfied expression. “Eat more, then.”
“Brother Quan, the store selling these fish balls is really far away. Why did you end up running there?” Chi Jiao asked curiously.
Quan Jue lowered his eyes to hide the strangeness in them and said softly, “I unconsciously ran that far during my morning jog.”
Chi Jiao did not suspect anything.
After breakfast, the two of them checked out of the guesthouse. Chi Jiao had arranged for a car in advance to send her and Quan Jue up the mountain.
There was a very old residence halfway up the mountain. It had been left behind since the Republic of China era. As there had always been people living in it, it had been maintained very well.
The car stopped steadily in front of the old residence.
Chi Jiao alighted first, followed by Quan Jue.
“This is where my grandfather and grandmother live,” Chi Jiao said to him with a smile.
As Quan Jue looked at the simple and gorgeous residence in front of him, his thin lips curled up.
It seemed like the environment this delicate girl lived in since she was young was not bad.
Chi Jiao went forward to knock on the door.
Soon, the red lacquer door opened from the inside, and a head popped out.
“Miss, you’re back!” The person who opened the door was an old man. The moment he saw Chi Jiao, an excited expression appeared on his wrinkled face.
“Grandpa Chen.” Chi Jiao smiled and greeted obediently as she looked at the old man in front of her.
“First Miss, come in quickly. Old Master and Old Madam have been waiting for you for a long time.” After opening the door, Chen Yi then noticed Quan Jue standing behind her. The smile on his face instantly froze as he examined him in confusion.
“This is Quan Jue,” Chi Jiao introduced.
Chen Yi looked enlightened as he looked at Quan Jue enthusiastically. “Young Master Quan, come in with our First Miss quickly.”
So, this is First Miss’s boyfriend. He looks like a real talent and very likable, just like her.
The first thing they saw when they entered the courtyard was an exquisite screen.
A simple and ancient aura that had been accumulated over time invited them in.
Quan Jue didn’t look around. He followed Chi Jiao as they walked deeper into the residence.
After passing through the front yard, a cobblestone path, and a small bamboo forest, Chen Yi brought them to the backyard.
“Sir, First Miss is back,” Chen Yi said loudly to Ou Zhenglin, who was always busying himself with the flowers.
Ou Zhenglin stopped abruptly in his tracks and turned to look at the entrance of the courtyard.
Chi Jiao had already pounced towards him with a smile. “Grandpa, I missed you so much.”
Ou Zhenglin hurriedly threw the scissors away and hugged her. He said with a bright smile, “How old are you already? You’re still acting spoiled the moment you see me.”
Quan Jue looked at Ou Zhenglin.
The old master was wearing a white Tang suit. His hair was white, but he was in high spirits. He looked to be at most 70 years old.
Who would have thought that this old man was already almost ninety?
“Didn’t you say previously that even if I’m 30 years old, I’m still a child in your eyes?” Chi Jiao hugged his arm and said with a grin.
“Ahem… We have a guest. Aren’t you going to introduce him to me?” Ou Zhenglin’s gaze landed on Quan Jue.
