Chapter 321: Because This Boy Deserves a Beating

Caught red-handed, Chi Mingwei lowered his hand in embarrassment.

“Why do you want to hit Brother Quan?” Chi Jiao asked with her hands on her waist.

“I…” Chi Mingwei couldn’t possibly say that he was provoked by Quan Jue’s words. That would be too embarrassing as a father.

As he was hesitating, Chi Mingwei’s gaze swept across the room and saw Quan Jue sitting on the sofa, smiling at him.

His smile was a little arrogant and provocative.

“Because this boy deserves a beating!” Chi Mingwei said through gritted teeth.

Chi Jiao widened her bright black eyes in disbelief. “Dad! How can you say that? Brother Quan accompanied me here to watch over you for the entire night.”

At this moment, she really had a headache.

She had always hoped that her father and Brother Quan could eliminate any ill feelings towards one another and reconcile peacefully.

From the looks of it, the two of them were not giving in to each other, and it was difficult for them to get along.

When Chi Mingwei saw that Chi Jiao was a little angry, he quickly restrained his fierce look and smiled at her. “Jiaojiao, Daddy is just joking with you. How could Daddy bear to hit Quan Jue? Daddy loves him so much.”

Chi Mingwei emphasized his last sentence, causing goosebumps to form on Quan Jue’s skin.

“That’s more like it. We’re family, to begin with. We should coexist peacefully,” Chi Jiao said as she grabbed his hand. Then, she turned around and grabbed Quan Jue’s hand.

She placed their hands together.

“Coexist peacefully, understand?” The girl’s voice was soft and sweet, but her tone was very serious.

Chi Mingwei and Quan Jue looked at each other.

There was loathing in their eyes, but they quickly shifted their gazes away, refusing to look at each other again.

However, under Chi Jiao’s insistence, Chi Mingwei and Quan Jue still responded with a word of understanding.

Chi Jiao then gave a satisfied smile. “That’s more like it. I’m going to buy some buns! Is soy milk okay for both of you?”

Quan Jue and Chi Mingwei nodded.

They weren’t picky with whatever Jiaojiao bought.

Chi Jiao hummed happily as she walked out of the ward.

In the blink of an eye, only Quan Jue and Chi Mingwei were left in the ward.

Their eyes met again.

Chi Mingwei grunted heavily and turned around, walking over to the bed to lie down.

Quan Jue looked at him with disdain.

However, the hatred in his eyes was gone.

As it was the Lunar New Year period, Chi Mingwei didn’t want to stay in the hospital for half a day longer, so he settled the discharge procedures in the afternoon and left.

On the way home, Chi Mingwei told Chi Jiao that he had slept for so long because he had dreamed of her mother.

“Jiaojiao, I really miss your mother too much.” Chi Mingwei reached out and touched the top of Chi Jiao’s head. Although he was smiling, the bitterness in his eyes couldn’t be concealed. “This is the first time I’ve dreamed of your mother since she passed away.”

If he could, he wished he could stay in that dream forever.

This was the first time Chi Jiao had seen her father reveal such a vulnerable and sad side. She reached out and held his large hand. “Daddy, if Mommy is watching us from above, she will want us to be happy.”

“Yes.” Chi Mingwei gave a small smile. “Thus, when we think of your mother, we have to smile. Your mother is secretly a crybaby. If she sees us sad in the sky, she will cry too.”
