Chapter 82: You Trust Me That Much?
“Can I?” Chi Jiao’s eyes lit up.
Her unguarded expression frustrated Quan Jue for some reason. “Do you trust me that much?”
Chi Jiao nodded without hesitation, and she stared at him with eyes brighter than the stars. “I only believe in Brother Quan.”
She knew that he wouldn’t mess around. That was why she was so unbridled.
As Quan Jue looked at Chi Jiao, he felt as if a hand was gently pulling at his heart. The frustration in his heart dissipated bit by bit.
He quietly made space for her. After Chi Jiao lay down, he pulled the blanket over her.
Smelling the fragrance coming from his body, Chi Jiao nodded in satisfaction and closed her eyes.
Quan Jue sat beside her and pursed his thin lips as he watched her breathing gradually become even.
Perhaps she really trusted him as her brother, that was why she was so defenseless.
But he didn’t see her as his younger sister. He would make her understand gradually in the future.
The next day, a minute before the school bell rang, Chi Jiao finally reached the classroom.
She woke up late this morning and realized that Quan Jue had left for school early. There was breakfast left on the table for her.
After hurriedly finishing her breakfast, she called for a ride from a ride-hailing company and rushed to school. Thankfully, she wasn’t considered late.
“Good student, why were you almost late today?” It was rare for Xu Ye to come to school on time every day for the past few days. When he saw Chi Jiao panting from her run, he took out the milk he had lovingly prepared from under his table and placed it on her desk. “Want to drink something to calm down?”
“No, thank you,” Chi Jiao said indifferently. She took out her textbook and placed it on the table, listening attentively.
Xu Ye was already used to her attitude towards him.
After spending a few days with her, he realized that although this girl looked sweet on the outside, the thorns within her were actually quite tough.
She wasn’t an easy person to get along with.
Xu Ye didn’t speak further. Instead, he took out his English book and placed it on the table.
His actions caused the English teacher lecturing on stage to look at him frequently.
Xu Ye was normally a bad student among bad students. He would either be late or leave early, take sick leave, or fall asleep in class. Whatever it was, he had never been like this before, taking out his textbook to listen to the lecture.
What was even more shocking had yet to come.
After class, Xu Ye called out to Chi Jiao with his English test paper in his hand.
“Chi Jiao, there are a few questions that I don’t understand. Can you help explain them to me?” Just as he said that, the students who heard him turned their gazes to him.
Was it going to rain red today?
The school bully was actually willing to study hard?
Chi Jiao looked at the English test paper and explained the questions to him.
Xu Ye nodded as he listened seriously, looking like a modest student humbly receiving lessons.
“Chi Jiao, are you interested in being my tutor?” Xu Ye suddenly had an epiphany and asked her.
“Not interested.” Chi Jiao rejected decisively.
Xu Ye shrugged. “Then, to thank you for helping me with the questions earlier, I’ll treat you to lunch today.”
Chi Jiao shook her head in rejection once again.
If it was during normal times, Xu Ye would definitely have lost his temper after being rejected twice. But now, he wasn’t angry at all. He only scratched the back of his head and looked at Chi Jiao helplessly. “Deskmate, do you have a problem with me?”
Otherwise, why couldn’t she even give him a smile?
Chi Jiao ignored him and took out her phone to text Quan Jue.
[Breakfast was delicious. Thank you, Brother Quan. Let’s go to the canteen for lunch later?]
This time, she had just sent her message when she immediately received a response.
[Ok.]
