Chapter 71 Team 2 Vs Team 99
Chapter 71 Team 2 Vs Team 99
Lee Seng turned into the gym hallway. He exited out of the phone app and slipped the phone back into his pocket. He glanced around. Most of the exam takers seemed to be inside, watching the fights. He went inside to Gymnasium A. He could hear the loud roar of the exam takers.
'Is something going on?' Lee Seng wondered. He pushed through a large group of people and popped out in front. Lee Seng looked at his watch. They had an hour before their next match. He glanced at the team numbers above and noticed everyone was watching Team 2 vs Team 99.
Lee Seng watched as the timer counted down to 12 minutes 54 seconds. Team 2 had two familiar guys. Lee Seng squinted his eyes together and realized that they were Ritsuka and Evan.
'Oh, damn. They paired up?' Lee Seng thought. 'I wonder what their abilities are.'
The girl shimmered and flashed. The arena lit up. Lee Seng squinted his eyes to see that Ritsuka had jumped backwards, past his scythe. Evan, on the other hand, held a red shield in his hand. He blocked the young man's attack and the shield reverberated.
"Sound." Lee Seng muttered under his breath. His ears twitched when another attack made the shield shake. The shield made a distinct sound that Lee Seng couldn't quite put his finger on. Evan slammed the shield into the young man and watched as the red shield dissipated its color and pushed the man out of the bounds, slamming into the thin curtain wall and coming to a stop.
The crowd went wild, clambering forward as Lee Seng tried to pull himself out of the crowd and keep an eye on Team 2's fight. Team 99's number slashed which indicated one member left. The girl gritted her teeth and stepped backwards. She watched Ritsuka raise his arm. The scythe shook and flew into his hand. He spun the scythe and gave a sly smile at the girl.
Ritsuka dashed forward towards the girl. She quickly shot out another burst of light. Ritsuka changed directions towards Evan, his teammate. The scythe disappeared and was replaced with a black sword. The sword didn't seem to have an etchings on it. Ritsuka held it to his side, ready for a side swipe, when the sword's metal glowed blue. He smiled and dashed forward, his body blurring and the blade slamming into Evan's shield. The shield reverberated loudly and quickly enveloped in a blue aura.
"They're gonna knock her out with the shield move, Evan did." Lee Seng muttered. The crowd watched as Ritsuka continued to swing at the shield. The shield started to flicker into red and then into a black color.
"Alright, let's end this." Evan said. Ritsuka nodded and turned around. The girl had time to create a mirage of herself. Multiple copies of herself stood around the field. Ritsuka tightened his sword and sighed. He lifted it and dropped the sword.
"Black Void." Ritsuka spoke in Japanese.
'Black void?' Lee Seng thought. He watched as the black sword disappeared into the ground. The arena ground went from white to black and Ritsuka kept his eyes on the furthest girl.
"I'll create distance for you." Ritsuka told Evan. Evan nodded. Ritsuka snapped his fingers and huge black swords shot up out of the ground. The swords began to plunge into the girls and one by one, the mirages were destroyed. Evan ran forward, watching the mirages around him disappear. The remaining mirages began to dodge and weave themselves off the Black Void move.
The mirage of girls lifted their hands and huge bright lights shot out. Evan lifted his shield and felt the light energy slam into his shield. He planted his feet and started to slide backwards. He could hear a girl scream in pain and shot right. He ran forward and lowered his shield. He could see blood dripping from the girl in front of him. She had been attacked by the Black Void.
"Dammit!" She screamed. She lifted her hand up and smiled. "Lux: Rainbow!" A strong blast of different colored lights flew out in all directions. Evan lifted his shield to block.
"Don't." Ritsuka's voice spoke. Evan lowered his shield and saw a huge amount of swords blocking Evan. "Keep going." Ritsuka's voice rang out. Evan dashed through the swords and slammed the shield into the girls chest.
"Ricochet." Evan smiled. The black aura energy burst forth and slammed all of the kinetic energy into her, sending the girl flying. She flew out of the arena and slammed into the gym wall. The gym wall glowed red as it blew off the kinetic energy. The girl slid down, unconscious.
Team 2's number lit up green. Everyone began to clap and cheer. People began to scamper forward when staff workers blocked them off. Medical workers flew into the scene and Lee Seng nodded, turning. He pushed past the crowd towards the door. People began to mutter and split behind him. The crowd in front of him watched in disbelief. He turned to see Evan and Ritsuka walking directly towards him.
"Ah, 5th place." Ritsuka spoke. The black sword appeared in his hands and he let go of it. The sword withered into nothing as Evan's shield disappeared. "I guess I was right. You would come to see the fight. How'd you like it?" Ritsuka and Evan stood a couple of feet away from Lee Seng. Lee Seng nodded and fully turned around. His tail couldn't hide his excitement or nerves.
"You can use multiple weapons and summon them at will?" Lee Seng asked. "And Evan can store kinetic energy?" Lee Seng pointed at Evan. The two of them didn't even look at each other or flinch at Lee Seng's questions.
"Is that what you think?" Evan asked. He smiled.
'They aren't showing their cards.' Lee Seng thought.
"Ah, you could say that, I guess." Ritsuka said. He shrugged. "You're our last match. We were able to see your other match against the two pyro guys. That was..."
"Hard to watch." Evan interjected. "The burnt smell of flesh still permeates the area. So, how's your partner?"
"She'll be fine." Lee Seng waved his hand. He pulled his phone out and waved it in the air. "You'll be interesting opponents though. Hope I can last longer than 4 minutes against you." Lee Seng smiled.
"You and her made it to top 5, so I think we'll both be entertained." Ritsuka said.
"Well, gotta go then." Lee Seng waved. He turned and the crowd split. He walked out of the door and turned the corner. He continued towards the other hallway and turned the corner. He leaned against the wall and lifted his phone. He tapped on text messages and created a new text message.
"We're fighting Evan and Ritsuka." Lee Seng began the text to Olivia. "Evan can materialize a shield that can take in kinetic energy and he can disperse that kinetic energy onto his opponents. The shield changes aura colors based on how much kinetic energy there is. Ritsuka has some sort of ability to pull weapons out at will. I saw a scythe and a black sword. The scythe can be recalled to him while the Black sword has a unique enchant move called 'black void.' He can turn the field into black energy and create and manipulate black swords throughout the field. Their match only lasted 4 minutes."
Lee Seng hit send and locked his phone. He sighed and slipped his phone into his pocket.
"What am I gonna do for the next..." He glanced at his watch. "56 minutes?" He shrugged. He turned left and wandered over towards the other gyms.
'Maybe I'll take a nap somewhere.' Lee Seng thought. He followed the hallway connecting the gyms to the end. he reached the end. The hallway tucked into a darker corner and he poked his head into it. Nobody was around so he decided he would lie on the floor. He turned an alarm on and closed his eyes, yawning.
'They hide their cards well.' Keng spoke. 'You sure Olivia and you can handle them?' Lee Seng ignored Keng. He yawned again and shifted his spot. 'C'mon, Lee. What're you gonna do? You have a very limited amount of time to come up with a game plan.' Lee Seng groaned and shifted onto his back.
'My negative is heavily reduced in the white wisp form. I need to learn how to use that Dark Matter eating technique.' Lee Seng thought. 'You think you can teach me how to use it in the next 50 minutes?'
'You'll have to use the white wisp form with your body while you're in the soul world as well. You think you can do it?' Keng asked.
'Mmm, let's go.'
