Chapter 849 Forced Hand

Chapter 849 Forced Hand

Goblins began to scream as their bodies convulsed. Muscles expanded quickly, growing the goblin into something much taller. The goblins' bones snapped, growing new bones in a blink of an eye as they grew to average human heights. Their armors snapped off, falling to the ground. Their small forms radically changed. Some kept their thin frames while others grew rounder.

'Orcs and Hobgoblins.' Keng thought. His body had become heavier due to the [Mass Possession] he  had attempted earlier. It had certainly helped them stave off the Goblins for a short amount of time, but things wouldn't get better unless they killed the Observer who was stopping them from turning the tide of combat.

'This is bad.' Evan telepathically spoke. He adjusted his shield on his arm and gulped. 'They're all changing in front of our eyes.'

'Beat them while they can't move!' Manny replied. Manny and Ritsuka jumped from the safety of the kinetic wall and stabbed their swords at the first monster they saw. The monsters screeched their dying breaths and fell to the ground.

"They're weak right now!" Manny shouted. "Gun them down!"

"I wish we had a gun!" Liz shouted, rising up into the air. Liz aimed straight for the nearest hobgoblin. The lightning bolt struck the hobgoblin in the heart, bursting through the other side and flying out towards the next nearest creature. One by one, hobgoblins and orcs screamed in pain as lightning spread.

"Keng!" Evan shouted, pulling him backwards. A large orc slammed its fist down onto a barely grown kinetic wall. Evan pushed himself in front of Keng and raised his shield up. There was something deathly about the orc in front of them. Keng lifted his hand up and blasted the orc's arm off. The orc screamed in pain as it pulled its arm back. The kinetic wall flew up, severing the orc's arm.

"They're coming!" Evan shouted. "I don't know if I can hold out for all of this!" Olivia moved to the middle of the small space and lowered herself. She kept the dagger close tot her, clutching it with both of her hands against her chest.

"Give me a sec." Olivia told them. She closed her eye shut and began to concentrate.

"Lee," Manny shouted, hopping over a dead body and slashing an orc's belly. The orc staggered backwards as three hobgoblins rushed at him. "Where are you?" Lee Seng dived straight into the forest, catching an old witch by surprise. Lee Seng sucked in a breath and blew celestial fire outwards. The witch screamed as she threw a shield up.

"Cancel." An ethereal voice spoke. The red-haired woman appeared beside the old witch, floating off the ground. "Counter." Celestial flames grew from the floating woman's hand. She released the flames back at Lee Seng, who threw a shield up. The shield exploded in an instant, knocking him backwards.

"To think they had someone who could find us out just like that." The witch cackled. The witch's cackle quickly turned into coughs. Blood splattered onto the ground, dripping from her mouth as the witch wiped her mouth. The red-haired woman didn't pay attention to the witch but began to chant.

"Let the heavens be my witness. Destroy my enemy and bring us victory! Heavenly Counter!" Flames and light billowed in her hands. It exploded from her hands, engulfing Lee Seng in fire and light. A large chunk of the forest erupted in flames, killing everything in its path.

"All that energy wasted!" The witch complained. She slammed her walking stick on the ground as she turned to the red haired woman. "You don't know how to preserve such fine creatures!" Her purple eyes gazed at the red hair woman's eyes. She watched the flames and light devour everything in its path.

A black wisp appeared, disappearing in an instant as Lee Seng appeared. He was unscathed. The red-haired woman raised her eyebrows. She had grown interested in this human. He wasn't like the other ones she had fought.

"He isn't dead." The red-haired woman whispered. The witch turned her purple eyes over to destruction.

"You didn't kill him! You wasted so many precious resources!" The witch complained. The red-haired woman glanced at the witch, revealing her purple eyes. Her eyes narrowed at the witch, immediately scaring her.

"Do as your told or I'll consume you, myself." The red-haired woman threatened. Lee Seng dashed forward, splitting into three spectral images. The red-haired woman turned and snapped her fingers. His images shattered revealing himself.

'Tactics like this won't work.' Lee Seng thought, sliding to a stop. He twirled the Sun blade in his hand as he conjured a plan. 'She won't let me get rid of either of them with ease… I'll have to — Hold on. Purple eyes. Deimons?' Lee Seng smiled.

"That's why." Lee Seng whispered. He straightened himself out and set the sword on his shoulder. "Deimons." The red-haired woman and the witch's attention immediately went to Lee Seng. The witch was surprised that Lee Seng knew what they were.

"You know who we are yet don't back down?" The witch asked. She laughed in her ugly witch's laugh. "You are stupid! You will die and we will lead the monsters to destroy that wretched city!" The red-haired woman lifted her hand as purple energy bubbled. She fired out three purple balls at Lee Seng, who slashed at them without hesitation. Golden wisps flew outwards, consuming the energy and pulling it back into the blade.

"Are you going to help or not?" The red-haired woman asked, lifting into the air. She spun around and set her eyes upon the human. The witch grumbled as she pounded the walking stick on the ground a couple times. Black liquid appeared around the old witch. Orcs rose into existence as the witch cracked an ugly smile.

"Go!" The witch shrieked. "Boost! Power!" The orcs rushed forward with purple and crimson energy rushing through their bodies.

'Let's make sure.' Lee Seng readied himself. 'Let's see if the red-haired woman can cancel devouring attacks.' Wisps ignited across Lee Seng's sword. He rushed forward, meeting the orcs head on with an attack of his own. Lee Seng slashed the first orc, watching the wisps fly at him. The rest of the orcs rushed forward, swinging their fists at him. Lee Seng dodged the first few attacks. The red-haired woman flicked her hands and an orc blinked behind Lee Seng, socking him forward.

Lee Seng grunted trying to blink, only to be caught in the red hair woman's game.

"Cancel." The red-haired woman spoke. The orc socked him to the side. Lee Seng flew in a different direction, getting smashed to the ground. The ground cracked as Lee Seng felt the fists and feet collide with him.

"Enhance!" The witch cackled. The orcs' energy grew even more.

'Two observers…' Lee Seng thought. 'And the witch is a Specialist at that… I can't take anymore damage. If I do, I might not live past today… Dammit!' Time slowed and Lee Seng could feel the creeping feeling grow inside of him. It always felt misplaced yet comforting. The Dark Matter suit flew on in an instant as time picked up. Lee Seng's energy switched, barely getting caught by the witch and the ghostly Observer in the air.

Tendrils exploded outwards, impaling and killing the orcs in one shot. The orcs flew backwards slamming into the ground as more tendrils pushed Lee Seng up into the air.

[6 Orcs have been slain! A boosted soul value of 16,000 has been added to your Soul Bead! 117,675/1,000,000]

"At least I have this form." Lee Seng whispered. He slowly looked up at the witch and the red-haired ghostly woman. The purple specs in his eyes had grown, filling half of his iris.

"A Deimon?" The witch asked aloud. "Who do you belong to?!?" The red-haired woman narrowed her eyes as Lee Seng landed on the ground. The tendrils retracted into his body.

"That's not a Deimon." The red hair woman whispered. Lee Seng flashed in front of the witch and grabbed her neck. The witch gasped for air as Lee Seng lifted her off the ground. "That's… not a Deimon at all… That's… That's a Perfect Singular." The red-haired woman's voice shook.

Let… me go! We're on the same team!" The witch shouted. She clawed at Lee Seng's hands, trying to rip herself free. The Dark Matter energy billowed around her, trying to manifest more monsters to no avail.

"Who sent you here?" Lee Seng asked. The witch gasped, tapping his hand. Lee Seng let enough grip go so the witch could talk. She coughed and spewed blood onto Lee Seng. The witch smiled and began to laugh.

"Who? It's not like you don't know who sent us here! You, of all people, should know who we work for you—" Snap! Lee Seng snapped the woman's neck. The Dark Matter energy growing around the woman fizzled out in an instant and the Dark Matter around Lee Seng flew at the witch, devouring her and pulling her into the suit.

[New Deimon Ability Added! Conjure Monster IV!]

[A Deimon has been slain! A boosted soul value of 99,999 has been added to the Soul Bead! 217,674/1,000,000]

"Ugh." Lee Seng spat. He wiped his tongue. "You didn't taste good at all."

"Perfect Singular…" The red-haired woman whispered. "There's two in existence. One is that stupid girl who's not in this country… So this one must be him."

"Hey!" Lee Seng shouted looking up at the woman. "I can see all your bits from this angle! You should wear something underneath that!" The woman gritted her teeth and blinked. She appeared in front of Lee Seng.

"Counter." The woman whispered.
