Chapter 90 The Walk To Lunch
Chapter 90 The Walk To Lunch
"Don't you think that's a bit unfair?" Manny's head tilted. His eyes narrowed as his voice raised. Lee Seng knew exactly what was happening and ignored all of the flags. He didn't want to ignore the problem and frankly, he had told himself he would have to potentially live with the fact he'd see Manny and Sara around. He didn't think it would be anytime soon, but here he was, standing in front of Manny and realizing Manny was his roommate.
"Unfair?" Lee Seng scoffed. He turned away, shaking his head. "If you think that's unfair then I guess we clearly have different experiences of what's 'unfair,' Valentin." Manny gritted his teeth and balled his hands to his side. Lee Seng moved closer to Manny and smiled. Lee Seng's face showed a sliver of hurt and Manny reacted with a single step backward. "You will never know how badly you hurt me because you can't put yourself in my shoes."
Lee Seng sighed and moved around the two. He started towards the elevators when Manny spun around to look at him. Elizabeth turned to watch Lee Seng turn left, out of sight. She turned to look at Manny who still had his balled-up hands to his side. They were shaking.
"Why can't you tell him the reason?" Elizabeth asked. "If he knew it the--"
"If I tell him, he's just going to do exactly what I know he's gonna do," Manny interjected. He turned and looked at Elizabeth with a cold stare. Elizabeth sighed and wrapped her arms around his.
"Grab whatever you needed and let's go get lunch. If you two are gonna be like this then it's gonna be a long year." Elizabeth rolled her eyes, pulling Manny towards his dorm room.
Lee Seng marched down the hallway until he found the stairs. He pushed the door open and went down the stairs. He flew down two flights of steps and pulled the door open and turned left. He made his way out of the hallway and into the lobby, quickly pushing through the doors and into the cool late Summer/Early Autumn air.
Lee Seng let out a loud breath as he came to a stop and rubbed his eyes. The sun was stinging it. His tail hung lower between his legs. He stepped off of the raised sidewalk and walked over to the driver's side and opened it as it unlocked with a beep. He raised his tail and sat down wrapping his tail towards the right side of the car as he closed the door. His tail moved and slowly settled along with the driver's door, hanging off the edge of the seat.
He started the car and pulled his seatbelt on. He put the car into drive and pulled out of the unloading zone. He slowly moved around the filled parking lot and found a parking lot further away from the door and closer to the lot's entrance/exit. He pulled into the spot and parked it and sighed loudly as he unbuckled.
'Are you gonna be fine with him for the year?' Keng asked. Lee Seng glanced at his rearview mirror and could see Keng looking at him in it.
"I'll be fine. It's not like I'm gonna be in the same room as him all year. Just gotta meet up with Olivia, Evan, and Ritsuka to see if they're serious about off-campus dorming. If they are, I don't have to be anywhere near Manny." Lee Seng explained. He watched as Keng nodded and turned to look away.
'Let's hope it stays that way,' Keng spoke as his reflection vanished. Lee Seng unlocked the door and stepped out. 'It's a weird coincidence that he knew you were coming.'
"His Dad knows literally everyone I know. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them spilled the beans. Isn't the first time something like this happened." Lee Seng shut the door. His phone began to ring and he pulled it out, realizing Olivia was calling him. He answered the phone and put it up to his ear. "Hey, what's up?"
"You get into your room, alright? I think I spotted you walking out of the building. Where are you?" Olivia asked.
"I'm, uh..." Lee Seng turned around to look at his surroundings. "I parked near the parking lot entrance/exit. Seems like a lot of people drive their own cars around here. What's up?"
"Oh, I heard it's lunchtime so I wanted to see if you wanted to go over to the Third Year building with me. Maybe we can find Evan and Ritsuka together."
"Sure, I'll come to the entrance and we can walk together."
"Alright, see ya."
Click.
Lee Seng jogged towards the entrance and found Olivia looking around. Lee Seng saw Olivia turn to him and he waved. Olivia waved with a smile as Lee Seng neared.
"Hiiiii! It's good to see you in the flesh after a week." Olivia chuckled.
"It's good to see you, again." Lee Seng chuckled. Olivia motioned to the left and the two started to walk together.
"How was moving in? Everything go well?" Olivia asked.
"It went... interesting."
"How so?"
"My roommate isn't what I thought he would be."
"Bad roommate, already?"
"Ehh, more like I have a history with him. I didn't expect it to be him."
"Ahhh. I haven't seen my roommate, yet." Olivia and Lee Seng turned left and followed the building. The two would need to go behind the building and follow a path towards the Third Year building that loomed behind their dorm.
"Hopefully she's nice." Lee Seng said. "It'd be good if you got along with your roommate."
"Yeah, I hope so too." Olivia smiled. "Oh, yeah, are you still serious about the group?" She turned to look at Lee Seng who turned to look at her and nod.
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, I just wanted to be sure. I know we said we'd have an answer after we give it a shot. We're entering the school when it's already been three weeks. Third Years already have their groups and anyone who transfers over, tends to create groups amongst themselves, so I guess I just wanted to double-check."
"Honestly, I don't mind it now. If we all wanted to, I would be grateful. I can move faaarrrrr away from my roommate." Lee Seng moved his right hand away from his left hand.
"Man, you two must have history, then."
"Mmmm, he and I grew up together. I think I mentioned him to you before, but we grew up together and he split away from me like that girl who tried to make a scene before the solo field test."
"Ahhhh, that's what that was about."
The two stepped onto the parking lot and moved through the cars and towards one of the many snaking sidewalk paths to the school. Lee Seng got similar vibes of a college town in the Third Year area. Huge trees were everywhere and the paths to the Third Year school building were quite beautiful. Lee Seng wondered how the scenery would look with red and orange leaves falling everywhere.
The two entered one of the paths and Lee Seng wowed in amazement as they went through the trail. It reminded him of his old home. He'd jogged on a similar-looking trail like this and it brought up a lot of warm memories. Lee Seng's mind began to focus on the house and then his mom. He sighed as the wind rustled the leaves.
"Man, I really do miss the trail now." Lee Seng muttered.
"Miss what?" Olivia asked.
"Oh," Lee Seng cleared his throat. He looked at her and then motioned around him. "My old house had this trail I used to jog on every morning. It would pop into this nice lake. This trail to the school building reminds me of it. Brings up a lot of memories."
"Ahhh," Olivia nodded. "The trail is nice. There's a lot of nature trails around here if you wanna jog around. This one is nice, though. I wonder how these trees would look with red and orange leaves. I think it would be nice to take pictures here."
"Yeah, it would." Lee Seng happily nodded. The two popped out of the other end. The Third Year school building looked exactly like the First Year. Many students roamed the grassy park area they popped into. Lee Seng could spot the front end by the large amount of concrete to the right side.
Students were sitting and enjoying the nice Autumn weather. They were eating and chatting. The students all gave similar looks at Lee Seng and Olivia as they passed. They reached the end of the huge park and stepped up the stairs and towards the entrance.
"Man, this is gonna take a while to get used to," Olivia said. Lee Seng nodded, following behind her. The two entered and Lee Seng got similar reactions and stares. At this point, the stares didn't bother him as much. What irked him was the whispers. He could hear people point and whisper things about him.
"Isn't that the Creator's son?"
"He does have a tail and fox ears."
"Isn't his powers, gravity?"
"What does his looks have to do with his powers?"
"He does look like the pictures online."
"He should be a model or something."
They all whispered similar things. Lee Seng's ears twitched at them and he didn't know when they would shut up about him. He was well-known based on his reputation as the Creator's son and the amount of trouble he caused. His few pop-ups in magazines with modeling also caused a craze. He tried his best to ignore them.
"The whispering will die down," Akio's voice echoed in his head.
