Chapter 78 The Tournament (6)

Chapter 78 The Tournament (6)

As the referee blew the whistle, Zakir charged at Erik right away, he wasn't using his power yet, meaning that he was underestimating Erik.

Zakir used his momentum to jump in the air. He brought his knee up and his arms behind his back and tried to hit Erik in the head. He was trying to inflict the most damage possible in the shortest amount of time, and he directly aimed at Erik's head, hoping to knock him out and win the match.

Erik narrowly avoided Zakir's attack, as he was fast, and judging by the move; he should also have been powerful.

Erik immediately understood that this was no ordinary opponent and it was just the second round.

As Zakir was landing, he saw Erik avoid his move, so while still in mid-air, he extended his leg, and in a superhuman feat, he tried to kick Erik's head by the side. The young man couldn't avoid the attack and could only defend. He brought his arms on his face and protected his head with all the strength he could muster.

POW!

The kick was strong, and Erik's head spun for a couple of seconds before settling down again. But now he had an idea about what kind of person he was fighting against: someone who knew how to use his body well.

Though, understanding the opponent and fighting against him were two separate things, as Zakir was a beast. His control was superb, and his physical stats were off the charts compared to all the other students.

All around them, people gathered to look at the fight. Most of them came to see Erik lose. Some knew who Zakir was, but others didn't.

Though basically, everyone was rooting for him, hoping he would let the trash see who a real elite was. People were yelling, 'Fight! Fight! Fight!', some others started chanting, ' Zakir! Zakir! Zakir!'.

As Erik regained his bearings, he saw his opponent dashing at him, making him panic. Erik wasn't so proficient in fighting, so he didn't know how to properly defend against such a strong and aggressive opponent.

After a couple of seconds, Zakir was on him, and he tried punching Erik in the face, though the young man wasn't a pushover, and thanks to the system, his stats were way higher than people at his own rank. Erik skillfully avoided every punch Zakir threw at him, but he was in a defensive position, and he wasn't able to shake the opponent off him.

"That's all your awakening amount to?" Zakir taunted him. "You can barely do anything."

He then threw a massively fast punch at Erik's stomach, which even he couldn't avoid, and made Erik gasp in pain. As he did that, Erik realized he wouldn't be able to dodge any following attack from the monster.

The young man reflexively leaned forward due to the hit, and Zakir took the opportunity by raising his knee and kicking Erik right in the face, making him fall to the ground.

It looked like the fight was going to end already.

"ZAKIR!"

"ZAKIR!"

"ZAKIR!"

The crowd was chanting his name.

"ZAKIR!"

"ZAKIR!"

"ZAKIR!"

"C'MON! LET ME SEE WHAT THE AWAKENER CAN REALLY DO!" The young man said to Erik, who stood on his feet while wiping the blood from his nose with his thumb. Erik brought his clenched fists over his head, brought his left foot behind and the right one forward, going into the classical fighting position of the Kyokar style.

"That's it? Let me see!" Zakir said.

This time, Erik advanced, and as he was close enough to his opponent, he started throwing punches at him at a rapid pace; he looked like a machine gun.

Zakir, this time, was thrown off guard by Erik's relentless assault. Differently from before, this time, he was having difficulties facing his opponent.

Erik was naturally stronger and faster than Zakir, and it was his only edge against his flawless technique and ton of experience. At that moment, Erik realized that if he wanted to win this match, he had to take advantage of his physical capabilities. However, he also decided to use the system to pry into Zakir's information.

<Analysis,> the young man thought, and immediately, a blue and white screen appeared in front of him, in a small corner of his peripheral. Though Erik was perfectly capable of looking at what was written on the screen and fighting at the same time, it wasn't unnatural at all for him.

<As I thought...>

Thanks to the Analysis power given by the biological supercomputer, Erik could estimate his opponent's powers. Zakir was weaker than Erik in terms of physical prowess, but Erik was left baffled as he saw the amount of Energy that his opponent had.

He was the individual with the highest amount of Energy he had ever seen. Not even Logan, with a D-ranked power on the Ferebitz scale, had that much.

<I wonder what his rank is...>

As Erik gained confidence after seeing his opponent's statistics, he increased his attack speed. He had to win this fight at all costs.

Zakir dodged and dodged, but as his stamina depleted, he figured out that he couldn't keep up with Erik's relentless assault.

<He is better than I anticipated,> the young man thought.

It was at that moment that Zakir decided to try something else. He knew how strong his abilities were, so instead of trying to overpower Erik by sheer brute force, he decided it was better to let his opponent see how strong his power was.

Zakir channeled a lot of mana into his body; it rapidly spread over his back and started condensing behind him. After a couple of seconds, two tentacles with a dark purple color grew out of Zakir's body.

The madman then whipped at Erik with his humongous eldritch appendages, but the young man noticed this and stepped back, avoiding Zakir's attack by an air breadth.

As the tendrils got in contact with the ground, it broke, creating two deep holes as large as a basketball and at least two meters deep. It was a devastating move.

Zakir didn't expect such speed from the young man. While Erik understood that If those tentacles had hit him directly, they might've even killed him. But there was no way Erik let him do that.

The referee saw the dangerous move and reprimanded Zakir.

"No killing moves are allowed; this is the first warning, calm down, or you will be disqualified," he said.

Erik saw that he was now in trouble. Knowing how mentally messed up Zakir was, he knew he had to pay attention to his mad moves.

Zakir whipped again at Erik. The young man avoided the attack again, but it became incomparably harder since Zakir injected a lot of mana into them, giving the two biological weapons speed and power.

This time, when Erik jumped backward, Zakir tried to grab and pull him towards himself. With the help of his other tentacle, the madman did manage to get hold of the young man.

However, Erik managed to twist away from Zakir and break free. Then he took a few steps forward and punched Zakir in the face. A loud noise echoed; everyone could hear it clearly. It was the sound of Zakir falling on his butt.

"Is that all you have to offer?" Erik taunted, at which his opponent could only laugh. The young man used his tendril to acrobatically stand up on his feet again, and as he was in mid-air, he horizontally slashed at Erik, who bent backward, avoiding the move.

It was at that moment that Zakir charged at him. Launching himself with the tendrils, he gained unprecedented momentum, making it hard for Erik to avoid getting hit.
