The guests who were glued onto this little spectacle, were astonished by this drastic change in Huang Xinyi. They couldn’t come to accept the fact that these two women who behaved as if they were sworn enemies, had come together, in an instant.

Huang Xinyi had plotted with Ji Lili to set a trap for her own cousin.

Her cousin had sung for everyone for her sake, and didn’t complain even when red wine was poured over her body and clothes. She even went down on her knees in front of Ji Lili, all because she was genuinely worried about Xinyi’s safety!

Turned out that all this was part of a well thought out scheme, put together by Ji Lili and Xinyi.

This woman, Xinyi, seemed to be really dangerous. Until a few minutes ago she pretended to play the victim and in the next few minutes, she revealed her true intentions.

Shangguan Ning was the one who got most appalled.

She never expected that Huang Xinyi was in on this plan. She thought that Huang Xinyi had been tricked by Ji Lili, into coming here. She had never imagined that her own cousin Xinyi would conspire with Ji Lili, so that they could humiliate her together.

Shangguan Nin was heartbroken. She wasn’t sad or surprised at Ji Lili’s behaviour because this is exactly what she had expected out of her. What hurt her the most was that her own cousin had stabbed her in the back. Ning felt betrayed.

Shangguan Ning’s knees hurt. She was about to get up when two men got to where she was and refused to let her do that.

Huang Xinyi walked towards Ning and slapped her hard, across her face. Shangguan Ning was still on her knees, being held in place by two strong men. There was no way she could have defended herself. Her face was swollen as a result of the onslaught.

“Ahaha, you are such a mess. Such a pity!” Huang Xinyi was in a jovial mood. She didn’t care about anything else, at the moment. She wasn’t bothered about her exposed chest and legs. She pointed at Shangguan Ning and said. “Shangguan Ning, finally you have got what you deserved. You not only lived in my house, off our charity, but also persuaded my father to divorce my mother. My father even sent me abroad for studies. You have destroyed my family.”

Blood gushed out of the corner of Shangguan Ning’s lip, but she still looked up and said, “Huang Xinyi, I didn’t know that you have lost your mind. You will definitely regret all that you have done today.”

Ning’s tone was so cold and her look so fierce, that Huang Xinyi felt quite uneasy.

Huang Xinyi turned to Ji Lili instantly, “Sister Lili, do you have someone who can break her arms or legs? She broke my arm last time, without mercy, and I suffered from so much pain. I will definitely give her a taste of her own medicine today. I will ensure that her arms are broken too!”

Huang Xinyi’s idea met with Ji Lili’s immediate approval. She clapped her hands, sadistically. “Five and Six, break her arms! I have never seen anyone’s arm being broken. Use all your force. If she doesn’t scream, consider yourself fired. You will never be allowed to work for Family Ji ever again!”

The two men who were holding down Shangguan Ning, nodded in acknowledgement. They raised Ning’s arms and were just about to break them, when they fell to the ground in a pool of blood.

All those present heard a gunshot being fired. The men who were holding up Ning’s arms, namely Five and Six, weren’t even able to let out a scream. Their grip over Shangguan Ning’s arms loosened immediately. In a matter of moments, two people had already lost their lives.

Royal Crown was famous for its luxury and high security. Small fights might occur if some of the guests had had too much to drink, but gunshots.. gunshots had never been fired here, ever before.

Who was it?

Who dared to carry a gun to the Royal Crown?

Everyone started to look around in panic, searching for the person responsible for this. It was only a while later that they spotted him.

No one recognized the man in question. He wore a black suit and had supposedly just entered the banquet hall. Behind him were more than twenty armed men, each of whom looked ruthless.

Even then, the man commanding them all was superior in every way. They were not a patch on him.

He was extremely good looking. His black suit was tailor made to his measurements and showcased his muscular chest and strong biceps. Every woman there wished he would look her way, even if it was for a few seconds.

Since when did God start to make such perfect looking men? Why had nobody seen him before?

Was he the one who fired those shots?

Jing Yichen was oblivious to the fact that everyone was looking at him. He didn’t waste his time looking at anybody else. His eyes only looked at Shangguan Ning. He went to her, right away.

Shangguan Ning let out a sigh of relief, at the sight of Jing Yichen. Only now did she realise that her knees hurt so much that they had become numb.

She was about to get up but because of staying on her knees for such a long time, she wasn’t able to stand on her feet. She wobbled and then fell to the ground.

Jing Yichen took her up into his arms. He was really worried about her.

He said to her gently, “Baby, just let me know if you ever feel like a red wine bath. I will take you to our vinery in France and you can do as you please. The red wine here is of a very inferior quality. It is only fit for the dogs to feed on. Come, let me show you how to keep the dogs under control.”

Saying this, he pulled out a white handkerchief, intending to wipe away the red wine stains from Shangguan Ning’s face.

Seeing the handkerchief brought back unpleasant memories. Shangguan Ning thought of what Tang Yun had said to her about the handkerchief and she moved away from Jing Yichen.

Jing Yichen’s hands froze. He thought that Shangguan Ning had refused to let him wipe her face because she blamed him taking so long to get here.

He apologized to her softly, “Sorry, my love that I was late. Let’s get your face clean and then there’s a show that I’d like you to sit back and enjoy.”

Shangguan Ning’s heart felt warm and secure when she heard his words. She didn’t seem to care about Tang Yun’s story of the handkerchief any more. She allowed him to clean her face as he touched it, with love.

Jing Yichen carried Shangguan Ning to a chair and helped her sit down comfortably. Then he took off her wine-soaked overcoat and kept it to the side. He then took off his jacket and wrapped it over her shoulders before turning towards Ji Lili.

Ji Lili had never met Jing Yichen before, so she didn’t know who he was. He had not only shot her men but also rescued Shangguan Ning. He had helped her clean up and talked to her in such a gentle manner. That made Ji Lili wild with jealousy.

When and how did that foxy Shangguan Ning manage to get hold of such an outstanding man? Could this man be her husband??

No way. Shagguan Ning lacked the personality to be able to charm a guy like that. Ji Lili wanted him for herself.

She came to Jing Yichen and said in a commanding voice, “Don’t you know me? I am Mayor Ji’s daughter. Get on your knees and apologize to me right away. I may forgive you. If you dare to offend me, I will have my mother drive you out of A City!”

Before she could say anything further, something about the way Jing Yichen looked at her, made her shut up.

A chill ran through Ji Lili’s body. She was about to say something again when unexpectedly, Jing Yichen kicked her off the stage.

Her body hit the ground like a sack of potatoes, with a loud muffled sound.

Had it not been the thick carpet on the ground, she would have been grievously injured.

The fall made Ji Lili feel as if someone had broken all of her bones, at once. She was in indescribable pain. She wanted to scream but she had lost her voice. She wanted to try and stand back up but the impact of the fall had been so fatal, that all she could do was lie on the floor and await her fate.
