Chapter 268: You Are the Prince
Shangguan Ning had always wanted to own this kind of winery. When she was studying in New Zealand, she had visited France with her classmates to some famous wineries. At that time, everyone wished that they would be able to own such a beautiful winery and spend the rest of their lives in such a place.
She never expected that her dream would come true so fast.
She spun around happily and told Jing Yichen, “Come, my prince, let’s go and inspect our territory!”
Seeing her so happy, Jing Yichen had a smile on his dazzling face. “My princess, I am at your service!”
The winery was spread across tens of thousands of meter squares and looked endless at first sight. Jing Yichen asked the farmer in charge of the winery to drive them around.
The farmer was called Benoît and was in his 50s. He was a typical Frenchman who was quite talkative. He had amassed quite an experience and opinions towards grape planting and brewery, so he kept sharing the same with them on the way. He knew that the couple owned the winery, so he showed exceptional enthusiasm towards them.
This winery which Jing Yichen had bought was located in an excellent position. The soil was of high quality and there was sufficient sunlight, suitable for planting of grapes. The wine brewed from this winery was already being sold to every place in the world and the annual profits were tremendous.
After the visit to the grape garden, Shangguan Ning followed Benoît to watch the brewing process. She had a different feeling from last time when she was here, because it was her own brewery and she was more careful while looking at the proceedings.
The buildings at the winery were European styled, like an ancient castle. Therefore, Shangguan Ning felt as if she was a princess from the middle century.
Shangguan Ning stayed in the winery with Jing Yichen for five days. They trimmed the branches, picked the grapes and brewed the wine. They tasted the most delicious wine and spent a happy time there.
Jing Yichen had hired someone responsible to look after the place and only came here once a year. He brought Shangguan Ning here this time and didn’t leave for the UK until she had had enough fun. By now, Shangguan Ning’s wedding gown was ready for trial at the British designer’s studio.
Shangguan Ning had been very happy during these few days in France.
“Yichen, when we are old, we can spend our days here. It is such a beautiful place and I feel that life here will be leisurely and cosy.”
She leaned her head against Jing Yichen’s shoulders and looked satisfied.
Jing Yichen planted a soft kiss upon her forehead as he said smilingly, “Alright, my princess, you get to decide where we go.”
“We can take back some bottles of wine to share with Anan and other friends. They would definitely like the wine brewed from our own winery.”
“Yes, I have already sent them to the plane.”
...
They reached the UK. The private plane landed upon Jing Yichen’s personal villa district.
Jing Yichen’s villa was spread across a large area and was located in the outskirts. After they arrived, Jing Yichen showed Shangguan Ning around.
He had spent the longest time in the UK, and bought the best villa which was decorated with classical and elegant embellishment. There were always servants who kept cleaning the place, thus maintaining it very well.
Family Jing had many properties in the UK and this castle-like villa was just one of them. Other things included land, houses, stores as well as other properties.
“Why do Family Jing have so many properties in the UK?” Shangguan Ning had always known that Family Jing was extremely wealthy, but she never expected that they could be so rich.
Jing Yichen took his wife around the castle and explained to her in a soft tone. “I had told you earlier that some ancestor of Family Jing once married a girl from the British Royal family and the Royal Family gave her lots of land as dowry. Many of our ancestors lived and did business here as well, so many properties have been acquired.”
“The business and lands have never been sold but passed down from generation to generation. And some properties are still in the hands of grandpa and will not be passed down to father until we have the formal wedding in the UK. When our children establish their own business, father would pass these properties to me. This has been the rule set by the ancestors and has never been changed.”
“Family Jing and the British Royal Family are also in a close relationship till today. Whenever a new baby is born, a priest would pass on the blessing to the baby. When the child becomes six years old, he or she will be sent to the Royal Family and receive the etiquette education of the Royal Family until he or she is an adult.”
No wonder Shangguan Ning felt that Jing Yichen behaved and talked like a man from a noble family, even the dandiacal Jing Yiran also gave out the feel of nobility. So the reason was that they had really been educated under the guidance of the British Royal Family. The girl whom the ancestor had married must have got a very outstanding position, considering that Family Jing still had a good relationship with the Royal Family.
She walked towards the castle and held hands with Jing Yichen. The setting sun cast its mellow glow upon them. They really looked like a prince and a princess.
Shangguan Ning said smilingly, “So, you are really a prince!”
Jing Yichen smiled too. He slipped his hand around Shangguan Ning’s waist and replied, “I do have blood from the British Royal Family, but after so many generations, only traces of that blood remains. That is why I am not a prince, but a nouveau riche.”
Shangguan Ning had always teased Jing Yichen for being a nouveau riche who ran a coal mine. She chuckled hearing his words now.
“Which ignorant person said that you are a nouveau riche?” Shangguan Ning flicked her hair back and said with a laugh, “I think that my husband is a prince, noble and totally royal!”
Jing Yichen took her into the garden of the castle and spoke in an indulgent tone, “It doesn’t matter if I have the blood from the Royal Family. What matters is that you think that I do since you are my princess.”
