Chapter 281: Family Responsibility (Part Two)
Jing Zhongxiu had no plans to expose Shangguan Ning’s identity either. She was the daughter-in-law of Family Jing and she didn’t need to bear so much stress. Jing Yichen was enough to face any kind of situation. All she needed to do was to live a happy and unrestrained life under the protection of Family Jing.
“Alright. Ning’s identity will be concealed and she won’t be discovered unless someone tries really hard to check upon her. Don’t worry, Family Jing is capable enough to control the media and PR system of A City and no information will be leaked.”
Jing Yichen felt assured. Only by concealing her identity will he able to fulfill the promise to his wife. She wasn’t happy to reveal her real identity even in the enterprise. She wanted to live an ordinary life. It was actually a good idea, because she would be able to feel the happiness as an ordinary person.
He, as the husband, had every right to respect his wife’s willingness and to offer the protection she deserved.
“I think you are fully prepared for your own wedding. But don’t hesitate to tell me if you need anything. I have also got a wedding present ready for you and Ning and it will be given to you on your wedding day. The wedding will take place in the UK. That is an unchanged tradition from generations and you must inform Ning about it. If she prefers another place, then we can host another wedding there as well. Don’t leave any of her wishes to be unfulfilled.”
Jing Zhongxiu was very strict with his sons. He had not allowed them to put forward any requests. But he spoiled Shangguan Ning in every possible way, fearing that she would be wronged in some way.
“Yes, I will ask her later.” Jing Yichen nodded. But his instinct told him that Shangguan Ning will not demand another wedding somewhere else. She was an independent woman who never troubled others for whatever she could handle alone. Therefore, she had never wanted to cause any trouble and preferred keeping everything simple and uncomplicated.
Jing Zhongxiu stayed silent for a moment and then said, “I have given 10% share of Jingsheng to Jing Yiran and he will be part of the enterprise in the future. But you have all the operational right and he won’t have any right to interfere with the daily business. So, don’t worry too much.”
If two men rode a horse, one must sit behind. Same went for an enterprise where no two voices were allowed to co-exist. Otherwise the followers would have no idea which one to follow. As time went by, the two voices would possibly divide into two sections making the company break down into two.
Family Jing had had one son in each generation for years and no such issues had ever happened before. All the properties of the family would belong to the one single successor and the enterprise developed steadily. Although there were two heirs in this generation, yet Jing Yiran was bound to be given only one small portion in order to avoid conflict of rights that might arise later. Jing Yichen, however, was going to keep the majority of the properties and powers, which would be passed down to his own children in future whilst Jing Yiran’s children would not be able to inherit anything from the family any more.
Jing Yichen was startled after hearing what Jing Zhongxiu said.
“You transferred your shares to him? That is not proper. I can give him mine. Yours mustn’t be moved.”
Jing Zhongxiu had only 20% of the total share left after giving 10% to Jing Yiran. He had too few shares at the moment, considering that earlier he used to be the second biggest shareholder in the company.
Also, didn’t he promise to give half of the properties of Jing Yiran before. Why was he only given 10% now?
Jing Zhongxiu waved his hands and told him not to say anything more.
“It is alright. You must keep your 61% and it should never be reduced. Only in this way will you be able to have absolute control of Jingsheng. After your wedding, your grandpa will give you his shares and then you will have 70% in total. You will be the only one on whom Jingsheng will depend from that moment on!”
Jing Yichen felt his chest loaded with burden. He had tried his best to get the shares from Jing Zhongxiu and every other shareholder just to get Jingsheng so that he was able to take full control of the business empire. That had always been his ambition as a way of taking revenge, because he felt that he was the rightful owner to these things. He didn’t want Zhang Rong and Jing Yiran to get these things away from him.
But at the moment when he was about to get 70% share of this enormous business empire, he didn’t feel any sense of happiness. Instead, he felt that he was more burdened and still had a long way to go.
Family Jing had been flourishing for hundreds of years and there were dozens of generations before him. He was already at the peak of the aristocratic family, one that was admired and worshipped by all families with properties all across the entire globe.
He was definitely not going to allow Family Jing to fade in his hands. He was going to make the Family flourish even more.
That was how Jingsheng Enterprise got its name – a flourishing family of Jing. It was a phrase full of significance and it was the expectation from each heir of the generations.
Jing Yichen nodded seriously as he said in a solemn tone, “I understand, Dad, Jingsheng will progress and become better under my charge.”
Jing Zhongxiu nodded and smiled slightly. “I believe that you are going to do well, even better than me.”
It was the first time for Jing Yichen to be praised by his father since he was born.
He had never imagined that he would be better than his father, because he was not as diplomatic as his father and what he had been using were his plans and capabilities. Father had been strict with him before because he had a goal! Had father not been strict with him, he would not have grown so fast and not become capable enough to deal with all the occurrences proficiently as he was doing it now.
Jing Yichen almost teared up hearing his father’s words. He was definitely not going to let his father down no matter what happened.
Jing Zhongxiu felt emotions overwhelming him. He had never been on such good terms with his son as he was now, because his son never understood him and he never cared about what his son thought. He had been intimidating towards him and there existed a huge estrangement between them, enough to hate each other.
He encouraged his son, because for one thing, he was really doing well whilst for another, Shangguan Ning had spoken with him, sometime back.
Jing Yichen was both high on IQ and EQ. He had already showcased extremely high gift of management as well as capabilities in all aspects. At the age of 14, he had already finished all the courses including those for postgraduate students and by the age of 16, he had graduated from Harvard University with dozens of doctoral degrees, breaking the graduation record made by Jing Zhongxiu.
Also, he had been going through various trainings and tests given by Jing Zhongxiu, physically and psychologically.
He had completed every task excellently but Jing Zhongxiu never praised him. He had only nodded and told him that he “passed the qualification line.”
