Chapter 631: You Are Mine
What Shangguan Ning wanted to do at the moment was protect her beloved man, her son, and her family. She did not care much about others.
“Well, he deserves death. But you have to make sure that you don’t put yourself in danger during this period. Take time to build your plan. Recover first. You are having a fever right now and it is rising constantly. If you are feeling unwell, please tell me immediately. I will get Doctor Mu.”
Jing Yichen was not Lu. His muscles were hurting and there were many wounds on his body. He was not feeling well but he did not utter a word of complaint. Instead, he consoled Shangguan Ning. “It is fine, I only need one night of sleep to recover. Don’t worry about me. Are you feeling alright?”
Shangguan Ning had not noticed anything about herself until Jing Yichen reminded her. She was feeling something weird.
But she already knew about the expected complications from Mu Wensheng and was not too worried.
“I am fine, just a little discomfort. It is not as serious as what Grandpa Mu warned me against.”
Jing Yichen smiled and said, “Mu Qing might make mistakes in treatment but never Grandpa Mu. If he tells you what complications you are going to develop, you will get them sooner than later. The time has not yet arrived.”
Lu’s blood could increase people’s physical function within a short period of time so people could become a superhero. If this information was leaked, Lu would probably die.
Many outlaws and criminals did not care about complications. All they needed was the power.
So only a few people knew what Lu’s blood could do and what complications would arise because of it.
However, Mu Wensheng once took her blood sample and did an in-depth analysis of it. In order to make sure that the research was accurate, he drank Lu’s blood himself and recorded the observations.
So his judgement about Shangguan Ning’s situation would not be wrong.
Shangguan Ning was not so worried about herself. She only cared about how Jing Yichen was doing.
She wanted to ask if he felt uncomfortable after having been insulted by Tang Shunian. But she tried not to remind him of the terrible incident and swallowed down what she wanted to say.
But Jing Yichen seemed to have read her mind. He whispered gently. “Silly girl, don’t worry about me. I am fine. My dad trained me for all kinds of tough situations. His ruthlessly strict program helped me survive. I had thought that I would never end up in such a dangerous situation but I realized that I was wrong. My position has created potential danger for me and my life is never going to be peaceful.”
Shangguan Ning felt that her heart was stung with pain.
He was the best man in the country, a master who should have been enjoying his life. But he had gone through so much misery and was wounded so many times.
Jing Yichen never feared difficulties, and never dodged any failure.
The only thing he would like to forget was the torment which he had experienced eleven years ago.
But today, Tang Shunian had forcefully brought out the suppressed memory and tried to duplicate what happened eleven years ago. Jing Yichen had been miserable at the beginning but now, when he was holding his beloved woman in his arms, he felt his heart to be at peace. The past memories were something he no longer needed to hide from. He could accept them now.
“Ning, haven’t you always wondered why I can’t be touched by people?”
Jing Yichen’s hoarse voice reached her ears. His words startled Shangguan Ning.
She had not known about his past, so she sometimes used to ask him. If she had known about the cause, she would have definitely kept quiet.
It was like adding fuel to the fire.
Jing Yichen had not been willing to tell the truth, fearing about reliving the memory. But when he was willing to discuss it with her, that might mean that it didn’t hold as much power over him now.
She stretched out one finger and placed upon his pale lips, stopping him from saying anything more.
“Hush, I know everything. Let bygones be bygones. Just remember that you are mine, from head to toe.”
Jing Yichen was a bit surprised but said, “Tang Shunian told you about it?”
Shangguan Ning nodded gently.”Yes, I truly wanted to kill him at that time. No one, no woman or man, is allowed to touch you. I will beat them all!”
Jing Yichen chuckled hearing her intimidating words. He understood that she was trying to console him in her own way.
But he did not need any consolation now.
He had found it disgusting and insulting earlier, but now, he found that he could accept all kinds of humiliation, as long as Shangguan Ning was fine with it.
Compared to what he had been through, he would rather not see Tang Shunian staring at Shangguan Ning’s pictures.
Tang Shunian must have been feeling proud to get Ning to see Jing Yichen at his weakest because he thought that he had beaten him by doing this.
Tang Shunian would feel accomplished thinking that the perfect image of a husband would have been ruined in the wife’s heart.
But he was wrong.
His image in Shangguan Ning had never wobbled.
Jing Yichen kissed Shangguan Ning’s forehead and said in a low voice, “Sleep in my arms. You may suffer from some pain tomorrow. Try to rest before it comes.”
Shangguan Ning felt satisfied after being kissed and hugged by him. She could tolerate all kinds of pain with him around.
She lifted her head and kissed his chin where his stubble had cast a shadow. She closed her eyes and fell asleep.
The following morning when they woke up, Jing Yichen did not have fever any more. After one night’s rest and medicine, he did not look that pale as well.
But now, it was Shangguan Ning who had turned feeble.
The reaction had broken out.
She felt pain all over her body, especially in the bones. It felt as if some ants were biting her deep into the marrow!
She could no longer eat. Even with Jing Rui present, she had become too weak to hold him, fearing that she would drop her son.
