Chapter 7
C7 – Cultivation of the Physique
The butcher gazed at Chu Yangxiang with a look of compassion and smiled warmly, “Child, you absolutely must not consume Beast Blood. What do you need it for?”
Chu Yangxiang appreciated their concern. The blood of a Demonic Beast was imbued with the creature’s violent mental essence and even contained toxins. It was dangerous for humans to consume, as it could potentially turn them into monsters.
With a slight smile, Chu Yangxiang reassured him, “Uncle, I’m aware that Demonic Beast’s blood isn’t edible. It has a different purpose for me. Please trust me.”
Seeing the honesty in Chu Yangxiang’s face, they chuckled, “Well, in that case, we’ll deliver the five buckets of Beast Blood to you.”
At Chu Huixiang’s residence.
In the dimly lit, cool stone house, the Chu Family’s physician was treating Chu Huixiang’s hands, which had multiple fractures. It would take several weeks before there was any hope of recovery.
Chu Huixiang’s cries of agony filled the room as tears and sweat streamed down his face.
His expression grew more malevolent as he cried out in a piercing voice, “Father, Big Brother, you must seek vengeance for me.”
Chu Guangxiang, Chu Huixiang’s brother, was a towering figure with bulging eyes and a body shaking with rage, his teeth clenched. The family elders had decided that Chu Huixiang was to bear the consequences of his actions, and they would not punish Chu Yangxiang.
Chu Guangxiang was infuriated by their response. Biting back his anger, he assured, “Rest easy, I will seek revenge for you.”
“The pain is unbearable.” Chu Huixiang screamed once more as the physician continued his work.
Chu Guangxiang’s eyes blazed with a fierce resolve. He thought to himself, When has my family ever suffered like this? Chu Yangxiang, you’ve gone too far. Even if there’s bad blood between you, there was no need for such brutality. You nearly crippled Chu Huixiang’s hands, threatening to ruin his entire future. I swear I’ll get even.
Chu Yuexing was taken aback when he learned of the day’s events. The fact that Chu Yangxiang had defeated a Profound Warrior Two-star was no fluke. Could it be that he had previously cultivated Profound Qi?
“Send someone to find out if Chu Yangxiang has ever practiced Profound Qi before.”
Chu Yuexing quickly received the information he sought: Chu Yangxiang had never trained in any martial arts techniques.
Perplexed, Chu Yuexing wondered how, without any formal training in techniques or martial skills, Chu Yangxiang managed to defeat a Two-star Profound Warrior. Could it be that he possessed innate divine strength?
Upon learning of the day’s events, Chu Tianwen expressed his concern to his son, “Son, you’ve acted too rashly.”
Chu Yangxiang nodded in understanding, recognizing that his father’s admonishment stemmed from concern.
His father couldn’t grasp his perspective. He believed that the truly strong must press forward boldly, without hesitation, for only then could he ascend to the pinnacle of Martial Cultivators.
Knowing it was futile to share his views with his father, he feigned compliance.
As night descended, the stars sprinkled their light, casting a hazy veil over the world.
Amidst the refreshing night breeze, Chu Yangxiang approached the five large buckets brimming with Demonic Beast Blood.
The pungent scent of blood was overwhelmingly unpleasant to him.
Based on his understanding of the Martial God Heavenly Technique, it could absorb any form of energy, and Demonic Beast Blood was among the more readily assimilated types.
Typically, a Martial Cultivator would absorb energies such as Profound Qi, the essence of medicinal herbs, the power contained within Profound Crystals, the intrinsic energy of Pills crafted from Demonic Beast Internal Pills, the force of Fulu, and the energy of Great Formations. Yet, he had never heard of anyone harnessing the energy from Demonic Beast Blood.
Perhaps this was why the Martial God Heavenly Technique was considered a Heaven Rank Cultivation Method – its formidable and domineering nature allowed it to assimilate all forms of energy.
To truly understand how effectively this technique could absorb Demonic Beast Blood, he would have to experiment himself.
Determined to conduct his experiment, Chu Yangxiang did not hesitate, as hesitation was not in his nature.
He stripped off his clothes and plunged into the bucket of Demonic Beast Blood, the sticky fluid making him exceedingly uncomfortable.
Martial God Heavenly Technique.
Chu Yangxiang began to practice the cultivation method he had learned, immersing himself in his training.
Instantly, his body flushed a deep red. Even on his smooth cheeks, red tortoise shell pattern marks, the size of fingernails, appeared. A faint red glow traced the contours of the patterns.
Energy from his blood was drawn into the tortoise shell patterns that covered his body, causing a prickling pain over every inch of his skin.
The rich vitality in his blood left him brimming with energy. It seemed that cultivation could indeed take the place of rest.
The feeble Profound Qi from the surroundings gradually infiltrated his body, transforming into Profound Power.
Six hours later, he had fully absorbed the energy from a barrel of Demonic Beast Blood.
Chu Yangxiang’s skin appeared to have thickened considerably, resembling that of a Demonic Beast. Since most of the blood came from artificially raised buffaloes, he wondered if his skin had acquired some of the buffalo’s traits after absorbing its blood.
He didn’t dwell on these thoughts, recognizing the rarity of such resources.
A large barrel of Demonic Beast Blood was tantamount to the energy of three Profound Qi Pills.
He had turned the seemingly useless into a valuable asset. The Demonic Beast Blood presented him with an opportunity to ascend from his difficult situation. He was determined to cultivate diligently and not squander this precious chance.
At home, Chu Yangxiang began to practice the South Bear Fist, channeling all his strength into his fists.
With each punch, his skin and muscles quivered, and his bones shook.
After three repetitions of the South Bear Fist, he had exhausted all his strength.
He made his way to a vat and leaped into it. The energy from the blood seeped into his body, gradually bolstering his strength.
As dawn broke, Chu Yangxiang had absorbed the energy from the last vat of blood. A subtle orange-red hue emerged on his body, signaling his approach to the Second Rank.
Chu Yangxiang gauged his cultivation progress by the color of his skin: One-star was a vivid red, Two-star an orange hue, and Three-star a yellow tint.
To reach the peak of Two-star, he estimated he would need the energy equivalent to a hundred Profound Qi Pills.
He would require at least thirty barrels of Demonic Beast Blood.
This was far more advantageous than relying on Profound Qi Pills, which were prohibitively expensive. The Chu Family could obtain two barrels of Demonic Beast Blood daily, and best of all, it was free.
