Chapter 36: Let go of the burden
Footsteps were heard coming from an empty alley, which was especially noticeable in the quiet night.
The moonlight illuminated two silhouettes in the middle of the night, one tall silhouette and a short one.
“Hey!” Hiyori called Kimura Muyang as they left the alley. She noticed that Kimura Muyang seemed lifeless ever since he heard the news about Kuruyashiki Kenpachi’s death. She didn’t know what he was thinking, but she knew this wasn’t the usual Kimura Muyang.
Seeing Kimura Muyang ignored her, Hiyori couldn’t help but gave him a whooping even though she knew that he might be thinking about something important.
“Huh?”
Kimura Muyang, who snapped back to his senses, looked at Hiyori puzzledly: “What is it, Hiyori?”
“What’s wrong?” the veins on Hiyori’s forehead popped when he realized Kimura Muyang has been ignoring her this whole time
“That’s my line, baldy!!”
Hiyori yelled her lungs out! She thought that Kimura Muyang must’ve done this on purpose.
Seeing Hiyori yelled out of the blue, Kimura Muyang realized what was going on and stroked his head embarrassedly: “Sorry, something’s in my mind just now.”
Hiyori stopped throwing a tantrum when she noticed the look on Kimura Muyang’s face and then said: “Tell me then, I’ll hear you out.”
Kimura Muyang took his time to gaze at the full moon in the sky instead of answering Hiyori’s question immediately.
Hiyori waited for a while, but she didn’t hear any answer from Kimura Muyang. She was mad again at first, but when she noticed Kimura Muyang was gazing at the moon with a profound look, she changed her mind.
Kimura Muyang seemed conflicted, with a hint of sorrow. Although he didn’t know what Kimura Muyang was thinking, Hiyori knew that he must be worried about something. After all, they’ve been together for a while.
“What’s wrong, Kimura?” Hiyori sounded thoughtful for once.
“I just wanna ask, can we survive?” Kimura Muyang asked worriedly.
Hiyori was silent for a moment. She wasn’t bright, but she understood the meaning behind Kimura Muyang’s words. Apparently, Kuruyashiki Kenpachi’s death didn’t only shake Aranmaru Shishin, but also made Kimura Muyang unsure about the future.
Ever since he came to Soul Society, Kimura Muyang has always been looking forward to the day he could meet the protagonist and joined them according to the storyline. However, he lost his confidence now that Kuruyashiki Kenpachi, who defeated him without even using Shikai, was killed just like that. If a man of Kuruyashiki Kenpachi’s caliber was killed that easily, how about him? Would he even be able to survive until the main story started?
Hiyori just stared at Kimura Muyang without saying a word. No one could predict the future, so she didn’t know how to answer his question. Negative thoughts now occupied her mind as well. After all, no one wasn’t afraid of death, even Shinigamis.
“You’re brooding over it too much, Kimura.”
A lazy-sounding voice said from behind.
“Shinji!” Hiyori was surprised when she turned around and found that Hirako Shinji was already right behind them.
Kimura Muyang also turned around and shifted his attention to Hirako Shinji.
“I don’t know what will happen in the future, but at least I’m well and alive right now.” Hirako Shinji said casually in response to Kimura Muyang’s demanding gaze, but he definitely sounded serious.
“Cross the bridge when you come to it. All I know is Captain Hikifune will be in your case if you don’t hurry back, Kimura.”
“Oh no, I almost forgot.”
Kimura Muyang and Hiyori seemed panic. They were in the palm of Hikifune Kirio’s hand. If they did not go back within the specified time, things might not go so well for both of them.
Kimura Muyang waved at Hirako Shinji and immediately dragged Hiyori back to the 12th Division.
Seeing Kimura Muyang hurried back to the 12th Division, Hirako Shinji just slightly smiled: “Kimura, that guy really is…” Hirako Shinji shook his head and then rushed back to the 10th Division.
Thanks, Shinji!
Kimura Muyang quietly thanked Hirako Shinji. Although Hirako Shinji’s answer wasn’t the solution he was looking for, it was mind-blowing, and it simply made Kimura Muyang realize the most important thing.
As he said, just cross the bridge when he comes to it. There was no need to brood over it too much. What fun was left in life if he had to overthink everything? All he had to worry about now was the present, leave the future for later.
He already knew about Bleach’s main story. What was left to enjoy if he knew everything all the way until the end of the storyline? Wouldn’t life be more meaningful exactly because he didn’t know what awaited him?
Kimura Muyang seemed more cheerful now that’s a huge load was lifted from his shoulders. However, now that he no longer worried about the future, he was worried about the present.
Although he somehow ended up in Bleach’s world, the timeline didn’t match. He has met several characters that appeared in the anime, but they were still a 3rd Seat, 4th Seat, or 5th Seat even though they were supposed to be Captains and Lieutenants in the anime like Hirako Shinji and the rest. Although their appearance wasn’t that much different, no one knew how long it would take until they reached that position. In other words, he didn’t know when the main story would start.
But now that the heavy load that weighed down his mind has been lifted, he realized that life must go on. Whether this was Bleach’s world or his former world, he had to carry on living. That part didn’t change. He realized that his own story had already begun the moment he came to this world. Even if he couldn’t see the day when the main storyline began, he must live his life to the fullest.
Now that Kimura Muyang has pulled himself together, he was a little more relaxed. However, he realized that he must step up his training. He couldn’t let himself fall behind if he wanted to live in this world where strength was everything.
“How long are you planning to drag me like this!” Hiyori desperately shouted.
Kimura Muyang turned around and almost fainted when he saw Hiyori nauseating behind him. It turned out he has been dragging Hiyori by force for so long that she almost threw up. He became pale when he imagined that Hiyori would take her revenge for sure. If she did, there was no way he could outrun her. Not when they lived in the same barrack and met every day.
“That’s uhhh… Hear me out, Hiyori.”
“Li’l Hiyori, Kimura, what took you guys so long?”
A voice certain voiced surprised both of them, and they immediately plastered a smile on their faces because it was Hikifune Kirio’s voice.
“Captain ······”
“Kirio-san…”
“I don’t want to hear your excuses!” Hikifune Kirio glanced at them and didn’t let them explain their situation: “Hiyori, you will be in charge of cooking tomorrow.”
“No! Captain!” Hiyori tried to protest. Hikifune Kirio might as well kill her than telling her to cook.
Seeing Hiyori’s reaction, Kimura Muyang had a bad feeling. His instinct told him that something bad was about to happen to him.
The next moment······
“Kimura, you’ll be responsible for eating Hiyori’s homemade cook.”
Kimura Muyang was pale. Was Hiyori cooking even edible?
Hikifune Kirio then left without giving them a chance to explain themselves, leaving Kimura Muyang and Hiyori looking at each other and sigh. A slick move indeed
