Chapter 186: A Necessary Evil
Xenia stood from the lap of the dead team leader operative and turned around to face an empty room, “Surprised?” She smiled and gave a short laugh, “Don’t tell me I’m the first to ever sense your presence?”
She scoffed to herself, “How pathetic. The world we live in really is just filled to the brim with talentless weaklings.”
Xenia received no response; however, within the void, Fincher was trembling with fear, “She can sense me?! Surely that is all. She can sense me, but she would never be able to enter the void to capture me. Or worse, kill me.”
Xenia began to pace as she said, “You have nothing to fear from me, Fincher. I’ll even explain to you how I can sense you. You see, I can teleport from point to point within this world I am in, and I use your world, the void, to connect those two points. I travel through it, but I cannot enter it.”
She began to pace around the dead operative running her hand along his dead body as she walked, “But you. You can exist in and travel through the void. Now that is a rare skill, indeed.” She pat the dead operative on the shoulder, “You were wise to not rescue him. Or perhaps you couldn’t save him. No matter, you still found what you are after… me!”
“Here I am. The devil in the flesh. Now what will you do?” Xenia walked closer towards Fincher’s presence in the room, “Run and tell Scorched Shadow? Run and tell St. Michael? Run and tell Jarek Heraklinos? You’ll have a very hard time convincing them I am alive; I made sure of that.”
Xenia came to a stop right in front of where Fincher stood in his realm, “Or. You could serve me. You could learn a lot from me. You could gain a lot from me. Do you even know what it means to enter the void? I gather you don’t.”
Fincher was sweating bullets as he finally responded to her, “And what would you know of the void?”
She smiled and began to twirl her hair, “What would I know? Oh dear. I would know a lot. So few historians left in this world. If you could find a BloodStar history book, you might be surprised to know that there were once Void Masters in this world. Nothing like yourself though. A true Void Master would’ve already attacked me, and one of us would be dead already.”
Fincher didn’t respond, and Xenia continued, “However, my family made quite sure to kill all of the Void Masters. And my family does not leave stones unturned which can only mean that your void skills are so weak that your lineage was never on the radar.”
She folded her arms underneath her chest and began to pace again, “So I assure you, I know much more than you about the void. Join me. I can teach you. I can give you anything you want in this world. Wealth, connections, power, jewelry, cars, homes, power.”
Fincher responded, “I have no doubt you can give me all that I desire.” Fincher for a moment lost himself in the thought of owning his own donut shop empire; however, he quickly came back to reality and continued, “But I am more concerned with you giving me the things I don’t want. Namely, death by choking on my own phallus.”
Xenia turned to look at the dead operative and laughed, “Oh him? Don’t worry. He and the others are weak and unimportant. Nothing like you and me. We are unique. And you are curious even to me. So let’s make a deal. Surely there is something you want. Fame, glory, murder mysteries.”
To her surprise, Fincher responded firmly, “I have a great deal many things that I desire, but I am afraid that I can never trust you to fulfill them without also killing me either now or later.”
Xenia kept a smirk on her face, “So be it. Then our game of cat and mouse continues. Only now, I am the cat, and you are the mouse.”
Both paused staring in one another’s direction until Xenia finally broke the silence, “I will continue killing until you come around. My killing spree will be your failure. I will keep killing until the pain of not trusting me overtakes the risk of trusting me.”
Fincher frowned to himself as he began to realize something thinking, “Why is she so quick to offer me everything on a silver platter? She sits there like a wolf salivating as she tries to persuade me, her prey, to come out of my safety. She wants something dearly from me, but what? My unique skills? Does she plan to force me to use them for her own plans?”
Fincher steeled himself as he then called out, “I will never serve you, Empress Xenia. I know the truth, and the world will too shortly.”
“Now there is one thing we can agree on. The world will know shortly, but not until I am ready.” She smiled at him, “Careful who you tell, they might think you are going insane.”
She then tapped her foot and brought her hand up to her chin, “Who to kill next? Hmmm.” She pretended to be in thought until she said, “Ah ha! How about the unfortunate man rifling through my car at this very second. I think you may know him, Bobby is it?”
Fincher felt a wave of anxiety rush over him as he thought to himself, “No! Not Bobby!”
Xenia walked towards the private room’s exit and looked back over her shoulder with a devilish smile, “Take caution when you exit the void. You just never know who might be there waiting for you.”
Fincher yelled after her, “Stop! Stop!! You cruel bitch! You will pay for this!”
Xenia smiled to herself as she left the room ignoring Fincher’s cries and yells. She made haste as she snaked her way through the crowd and exited out the front door to find her bright-yellow Lamborghini parked up front near the building in valet.
Several bodyguards had a man pushed up against the car with his arms behind him as they yelled at him, “Who are you?! Tell us or we are calling the police for breaking in to cars!”
Xenia approached the club bodyguards and smiled at them, “Very sorry for the confusion gentlemen. He is my date.”
The bodyguards looked from Xenia to Bobby and back to Xenia with a look of disbelief. Bobby also looked to Xenia in disbelief as he thought, “Oh shit. This isn’t good. Not good!”
The bodyguards let Bobby go, “Very well. He is all yours then.”
Xenia rushed towards Bobby, “Yes, he’s all mine now!” She pushed him back against the car and began to make out with him furiously even biting his lip causing him to bleed.
The bodyguards looked on wondering how such a scrawny man could be so lucky to catch a woman like her.
Xenia saw them ogling them both, and she let up on her kissing to turn towards them. Her lips had drops of blood on them already from her aggressive kissing and biting, “Excuse us gentlemen, I’m afraid I have nothing but terrible things to do to my date tonight.”
She turned back to Bobby and ran her finger down his face, “Terrible, terrible things.”
The bodyguards couldn’t believe Bobby’s luck; however, Bobby couldn’t believe his lack of luck as he trembled.
The bodyguards tossed the keys inside the car, “Uhh yea. Whatever. You two have a good evening.”
Xenia laughed, “We are going to have a bad evening. A very bad evening.” She then pushed him into the passenger side of the car and bloodbent him to put on his seatbelt and stay seated for her.
She walked around the car creating a stunning sight with her shiny black catsuit and bright-yellow V12 Lamborghini creating an image with utmost sex appeal with stark contrasting black and yellow colors.
She took her seat and started the car revving it loudly, “Are you ready for a night you’ll never forget, Bobby?”
She caressed his face, “I’m afraid I need your boss. I need to draw him out. And to draw him out, I’m afraid I have to do unspeakably cruel things to you. Unspeakably cruel even for me. It’s a necessary evil, and I love being the necessary evil.”
She leaned in and kissed him while saying in between kisses, “Now tell me where your home is. And take me there with you.”
Bobby was stunned into silence, and he had no intention of telling her anything; however, he felt an unnerving presence within his mind as if she were in it. There was nothing he could do as his mind suddenly felt forced to recall his address along with visual images of his home.
Xenia stopped kissing him and smiled, “That’s a good boy. Now I’ll make you a deal. If Fincher gives himself up to me, I’ll kill you. And if he doesn’t, I won’t kill you.”
Bobby frowned with confusion, and she laughed, “I know. I know. It doesn’t make sense… yet. Give it a few hours, and you’ll understand. Give it a few hours, and you will be begging me to kill you.”
She then smashed the pedal and performed a smoky burnout as she fishtailed out of the valet drive and onto the road racing towards a quiet neighborhood of very average homes.
She looked back through the rear-view mirror and sent a subtle but extremely powerful shockwave of ki back towards the night club… frying any and all recorded surveillance from the evening.
