Chapter 76: Lightbringer!

King Ramses and Queen Zara sat in luxurious chairs within a Sage Family Palace in the Sage Empire. Zara sipped her wine as she watched the battle begin in earnest. The battle that would determine the fate of not only the war but also the future of the world.

She swirled her wine after taking a sip and said, “It really is a shame that Xenia fell from the tree as a rotten apple. Just look at her. Fast as ever, strong as a Master at her age, and sharp as a tack.”

Ramses grunted and said, “I wouldn’t say she’s as strong as a Master. Gregory is but warming up at this point. I think Xenia is actually giving some effort to dodge and resist his powerful sword swings. Why is she even using a sword? She is a grandmaster in the martial arts. She hardly needs a sword.”

Just as he said that, Xenia put her sword away, and he said, “That’s more like it. Now we shall see how she fairs while she uses her true martial arts skills.”

They both looked on and watched Xenia send her sword, BloodBane, flying through the air while she protected herself with her energy barrier underneath Gregory’s attacks.

Zara smiled, “Quite crafty of her to bloodbend her sword to his rear while distracting him. I don’t think it will work though.”

Ramses gave a big laugh as her sword was blocked with Gregory’s wall of defensive energy. Then Gregory followed up by knocking Xenia back with a massive hilt strike to her chin.

Ramses clapped his hands and shouted, “Wow! What a hit!”

Zara leaned forward in her seat as well beaming with excitement, “Finally! A true blow landed on her! Gregory has the upper hand as we so thought!”

However, both of their faces were sapped of excitement as they witnessed Xenia stand, fully healed. Zara bit her lip and frowned, “So talented, the heir of the BloodStar Empire.”

Ramses pursed his lips, “Talented indeed. Although I don’t think her talent will win this battle yet.”

The ground rumbled and quaked beneath her feet as she gathered more and more ki within her outstretched hands. Xenia had two swirling red balls of destructive energy ready to launch at Gregory at any moment. She stood calmly as the energy around her swirled with anger and violence.

Gregory motioned for her to attack as he planted his feet, “Let’s see what the young BloodStar is capable of!”

Xenia gave a loud battle cry and launched both balls of energy at Gregory. He simply outstretched a single hand while his other hand held his sword to the side of his body. He shouted and yelled as he stopped the two violent energy balls several feet from his body in the air.

He was using immense amounts of his own ki stop them, and then with a sudden burst of even more ki, he dissipated her attack. The two violent red balls of ki completely evaporated in an instant owing to Gregory’s own ki interference.

He then yelled, “My turn! Time to teach you a lesson young girl!”

He gathered ki around his body as his aura grew exponentially. His ki flickered with a white and silver hue.

Xenia stood on the defensive with both arms up ready to defend. She squinted her eyes as she closely monitored Gregory as she realized a single misstep could mean her death and the eventual fall of her empire.

Gregory then yelled, “Lightbringer! 100%!”

Xenia’s eyes went wide with both confusion and shock as she thought to herself, “Lightbringer at 100%? But how?! He has already spent at least some ki during our brief exchanges.” She furrowed her brow as she prepared for the incoming attack.

Things were heating up much faster than she expected, and she looked to the sky which flickered with golden streaks of light preparing to rain down on her. She watched with both eyes preparing to dodge whatever attack may rain from the sky above. She knew this attack all too well and was intent on taking it very seriously.

In the next instant, her senses detected an imminent and massive attack. She moved to dodge the impending attack whatever shape or form it may take; however, as she tried to jump from her spot, she found herself immobilized. She looked down to find both of her ankles shackled to the ground by a mysterious golden light in the form of chains.

Just as soon as she looked down and then back up, an enormous column of golden light shot down directly at her. She had no choice but to take it straight on. She expanded her aura as quickly as she could; however, ultimately it was for naught.

The column of golden light shot down and extinguished the defensive aura around her and slammed her body hard into the ground as she took the full brunt of the attack.

She screamed in pain, true pain, as her face and body were pinned to the ground from the force of the light column as her body began to shred underneath her armor.

Gregory began to slowly walk towards her with a menacing face full of focus, “You foolish girl. Did you not learn your lesson the first time in Houston? I certainly have learned my lesson! And now I will finish you for good this time!”

Gregory raised his sword high above him and yelled again, “Lightbringer! 100%!!!”

Xenia squirmed from the pain. She would have reveled in it had she not felt genuine fear from the call of a second Lightbringer attack at 100%. She hurriedly thought, “How?! But how?! 200%?”

This time Gregory’s sword became emblazoned with silver fire and flew high up into the clouds. It then entered the golden column of light and swiftly rode the attack downwards from within the column. The sword was imbued with massive amounts of energy as it flew downwards aiming at Xenia’s head.

She mustered enough strength to turn her body over under the weight of the full Lightbringer attack and shot a beam of pure energy from her mouth as she fired it up against the downpour of golden ki.

Her dragon breath attack of sorts was just enough to deflect the sword’s path away from her head; however, the sword landed squarely in the center of her chest shattering the center area of her armor and stabbing clean through her entire body skewering her to the ground as the sword firmly planted itself into the ground beneath her. The sword then began to dissipate the remainder of its energy into Xenia’s body frying her from the inside.

She grit her teeth and nearly passed out; however, she maintained her composure through both components of the Lightbringer attack.

Gregory stood no more than 10 yards away from Xenia with his hands on his knees breathing heavily. Although the attacks rained from the sky, they were fueled by his own ki, and at the moment he was feeling extremely fatigued.

He assessed his opponent as the Lightbringer column of light faded. His God Sword had her firmly impaled into the ground. Her front-center armor was shattered, and she lay lifeless. He rested only for a moment before taking further action as he knew he would still need to finish her off given that her head was still intact. His ultimate goal was to annihilate her entire body.

Then, he heard a blood-curdling noise. “Ahhhhh! Gregory! I am going to kill you!” Xenia grabbed the sword’s blade with both of her hands and tried to move it upwards; however, she couldn’t find a strong enough grip to pull the sword from both the ground and her body without slicing her own hands off.

Gregory smiled and said, “Oh no you don’t! On behalf of the Holy Light Empire and indeed the world, I hereby sentence you to death for the crimes known to all, too many to count.”

He stepped forward once again and yelled, “Lightbringer! 100%!!”
