“Darling…” Kirk said softly.

In the front, Jack happened to see Kirk’s docile expression in the rearview mirror. The sight shocked him so much that he thought he was seeing things.

Caroline frowned and didn’t answer Kirk.

Instead, she was reading Quentin’s investigation report. The report showed that the group of thugs who attacked them were actually Jane’s people. Jane was also Brie’s mother.

Caroline slowly connected the dots in her memories.

Back then, she had bumped into Jane and Daphne at the bridal boutique. Although she wasn’t directly involved with Brie going insane, there was no doubt the Collins family held a grudge against her.

This was where things got strange.

After Caroline had returned from visiting Ivan, she had been waiting for the Collins family to come after her. However, they had never given her any trouble, so she had gradually forgotten about it.

She hadn’t expected Jane to be the mastermind of a seemingly simple robbery.

Caroline slowly connected the threads to form a single narrative. Daphne was at odds with her because of the incident at the bridal boutique, and Jane had long wanted to take revenge on her for what happened to Brie.

It seemed that the two women had immediately devised a plan for a mysterious person to send

her a message.

That would make her investigate the fact that Kirk had another wife and cause a rift in her marriage with Kirk.

Then, they had probably been upset that she and Kirk weren’t divorced yet. So they had sent

thugs to rob them.

Perhaps Jane and Daphne were behind the robbery at her apartment, as well as the incident with

the three men at that bar.

Caroline put her phone away, taking a deep breath. She just needed to ask Dolly to verify her

Kirk’s heart pounded like a drum at her actions. He asked, “What’s wrong, darling?”

Caroline asked, “Where’s Dolly right now?”

His heart pounded faster at her words. Although Kirk maintained a smile on his face, he had a

trace of panic in his eyes. “I’ll have to ask Charles about that.”

“Ask him then. I have something to ask Dolly.”

“Now?”

“Yeah.” Caroline nodded.

Kirk took a breath with a smile, but a trace of panic appeared in his eyes again. “Okay, I’ll give

Charles a call.”

Under Caroline’s watchful eye, Kirk called Charles. He didn’t know much about Dolly. He wasn’t

sure if she knew who he was or if she would reveal his identity in front of Caroline. “Where are

you?” He asked.

Charles was driving. He answered, “I’m on the way, sir…”

Before he could finish, he heard Kirk’s voice on the phone. “Oh, you’re at the warehouse in the

western suburbs. Okay, I got it. I’ll take my wife there right now.”

Charles‘ expression shifted slightly at his words. He glanced back at the two women he had

thrown in the back seat.

Then, he looked up the address of the warehouse. He said, “Sir, I’ll need more than an hour to get

there.”

“Okay, that’s fine.” Kirk hung up the phone after he was done.

Caroline looked at him. She questioned, “So?”

“They’re at the warehouse in the western suburbs.”

“Mr. Jack, take us there right now,” Caroline ordered. They only needed half an hour to get to the warehouse from here.

Before Jack could answer, Kirk took Caroline’s hand and asked, “Are you hungry, darling?”

Caroline frowned at his question. “No.”

“But I am!” Kirk looked at Caroline expectantly.

“I barely ate in the past few days because of our fight. Now that things are fine, I finally feel hungry.

“Just touch my belly if you don’t believe me. I’m becoming thin…”

After that, Kirk grabbed Caroline’s hand and placed it on his abdomen. His strong muscles and familiar touch gave Caroline goosebumps.
