Building a Business Empire with my Technological System

Chapter 257: They Have the Backings

Chapter 257: They Have the Backings

On the same day, Michael and Antoinette made their way to the Senate building for their meeting with Senator Isabel Santos. Entering the Senate Building wasn't easy as the security was tight, and they had to pass through multiple checkpoints. After a thorough screening process, they were finally escorted to the senator's office.

The senator's aide greeted them and led them down a corridor lined with portraits of past legislators. The senator's aide greeted them and led them down a corridor lined with portraits of past legislators.

"Mr. Reyes, Mrs. Estolas, welcome. Please, have a seat," Senator Santos said, gesturing to the chairs in front of her desk.

"Thank you, Senator," Michael replied as they took their seats. "We appreciate you taking the time to meet with us."

Senator Santos nodded. "I've heard a lot about your work, Mr. Reyes. I'm intrigued by your new venture into the aerospace and defense industry. What can you tell me about it?"

"Well, for someone like you who proposes modernization of our armed forces, I think both of us can find common ground," Michael said, leaning forward slightly. "Given the increasing tensions in the South China Sea, it's critical that the Philippines enhances its defense capabilities. We are developing advanced missile systems, specifically Anti-Air and Long-Range Anti-Ship Missiles."

Senator Santos nodded, her interest clearly piqued. "That's an ambitious project, Mr. Reyes. What stage are you at currently?"

Michael continued, "We have the schematics and blueprints ready, and our prototypes are awaiting approval for testing. Once we have the necessary permits and licenses, we can demonstrate their capabilities."

Senator Santos leaned back in her chair, considering his words. "I see. Given the current geopolitical climate, there is certainly a need for advanced defense systems. What kind of support do you need from my office?"

"We need your endorsement to expedite the approval processes and to help us secure the necessary clearances," Michael explained. "Your influence can ensure that we move forward swiftly and efficiently."

Antoinette added, "Your support as Chair of the Senate Committee on National Defense and Security would be instrumental in pushing through the necessary legislation and ensuring that our project gets the required approvals without unnecessary delays."

Senator Santos nodded thoughtfully. "This project could indeed be a significant boost to our national defense. I'll need to see detailed plans and a demonstration of your prototypes. If convinced of its feasibility and potential, I'll lend my support to push this through."

"Thank you, Senator," Michael said with a hint of relief. "We'll provide you with all the necessary documents and arrange for a demonstration as soon as possible."

Senator Santos stood up, signaling the end of the meeting. "I'm looking forward to seeing your progress. Let's make sure this project strengthens our national defense."

Michael and Antoinette shook hands with the senator and left her office, feeling a sense of accomplishment. Securing Senator Santos's tentative support was a significant step forward.

As they walked back to their car, Michael turned to Antoinette. "Two down, three more to go. Let's keep this momentum going."

Antoinette nodded, checking her schedule. "Next, we have a meeting with Secretary Ramon De La Cruz at the Department of National Defense. He's expecting us in an hour."

They drove to the Department of National Defense, arriving a bit early to ensure they had enough time to get through security. After another round of thorough checks, they were led to Secretary De La Cruz's office.

"Mr. Reyes, Mrs. Estolas, welcome," Secretary De La Cruz greeted them as they entered. "So, the genius inventor of the Philippines is now entering the aerospace defense industry, huh?"

Michael chuckled as he waved his hand dismissively. "Just trying to do my part, Secretary. We believe our advanced missile systems can significantly enhance our national defense."

Secretary De La Cruz gestured for them to sit. "Please, have a seat. I'm very interested to hear more about your project."

Michael leaned forward. "We're developing Anti-Air and Long-Range Anti-Ship Missiles. Ones that could potentially destroy any Chinese warships that would enter the Philippine waters," Michael explained.

Secretary De La Cruz raised an eyebrow. "That sounds quite aggressive, Mr. Reyes. Are you suggesting an offensive stance?"

Michael shook his head. "Not offensive, Secretary. Defensive. If the Chinese were to encroach on our territory, it's crucial that we have the capability to defend ourselves effectively. The attack would only be warranted if they incursed in our territory. We have the backing of the United States, and if there is going to be a conflict, the Philippines must have a fighting chance against its rival."

"I see your point. The situation in the South China Sea is indeed volatile. Having advanced defensive capabilities could act as a significant deterrent."

Antoinette added, "Your support in expediting the approval process and securing the necessary permits would be invaluable, Secretary. We need to move quickly given the current geopolitical climate."

Secretary De La Cruz leaned back in his chair, considering their request. "Well let's not beat around the bush. We all know that a war is going to happen between China and the United States. It could start in Taiwan or in the West Philippine Sea. So, it's time that we stop thinking about the future and start preparing for the inevitable."

Michael nodded, appreciating the Secretary's directness. "Exactly, Secretary. Our advanced missile systems can definitely make a difference, you can count me on that. They will ensure that we can protect our sovereignty and provide a credible deterrent against any aggression."

De La Cruz sighed, leaning forward. "I agree with you. The Philippines has been too reliant on imported defense technologies for too long. It's time we start developing our own capabilities. Very well, you have my backing."

Michael smiled, feeling a sense of relief. "Thank you for your support, Mr. Secretary."

As they left the office. "Three down, two more to go. We're making good progress, Mrs. Estolas."

Antoinette checked her schedule again. "Next, we have a meeting with Director Elena Villanueva at the Philippine Defense Procurement Agency. We should head there now to stay on schedule."

They made their way to the agency, going through the now-familiar security procedures. Once cleared, they were escorted to Director Villanueva's office.

"Mr. Reyes, Mrs. Estolas, welcome," Director Villanueva greeted them warmly. "I've been looking forward to this meeting."

"Thank you, Director," Michael replied as they took their seats. "We're here to discuss our advanced missile systems and how they can support our national defense."

And the process was the same as the first three meetings. Michael explained what they came for, detailing how the missiles would enhance the nation's defense capabilities and provide a critical deterrent against potential aggressors. And the result was also the same, they will have their backing.

It was easy for them to obtain support, especially when the country was already threatened by a foreign power. And since they all have their backing, it's time for the demonstration.
