Chapter 270: Raytheon Deal
Chapter 270: Raytheon Deal
April 13th, 2028.
Michael Reyes was seated in his office at the Golden Topper, awaiting the arrival of the Raytheon representatives.
"Come in," Michael called.
Juliet entered, followed by three well-dressed individuals. "Mr. Reyes, I'd like to introduce the representatives from Raytheon. This is Johnathan Harris, their Chief Negotiator," she said, gesturing to a tall man with sharp features and a confident demeanor. "Next, we have Dr. Sarah Bennett, their Lead Engineer," Juliet continued, indicating a woman with a composed, analytical expression.
"And finally, Mark Thompson, their Senior Legal Advisor," she finished, nodding towards a man with a meticulous air and a briefcase in hand.
"Welcome to the Golden Topper," Michael said, standing to shake hands with each of them. "Please, have a seat."
"Thank you, Mr. Reyes," Johnathan Harris said, taking a seat across from Michael. "We appreciate you making the time for this meeting. We understand how significant this transaction is."
"Indeed," Michael replied, motioning for Juliet to serve refreshments. "Let's get straight to the point. I'm eager to hear what Raytheon has to offer and how we can ensure a seamless transition for both parties."
Dr. Sarah Bennett was the first to speak after the formalities. "Mr. Reyes, I've reviewed your company's technological advancements, and I must say, the innovation and potential are remarkable. Integrating RADS into Raytheon will not only enhance our capabilities but also pave the way for groundbreaking developments."
"Thank you, Dr. Bennett. Our team has worked tirelessly to achieve these advancements," Michael said. "It's important to me that this transition supports our current employees and maintains the high standards we've set."
Mark Thompson nodded, adjusting his glasses. "Rest assured, Mr. Reyes, we have carefully considered the legal framework to protect both your interests and ours. Our goal is to ensure that this acquisition benefits all stakeholders involved."
Johnathan Harris leaned forward, his expression serious. "Let's discuss the specifics. We are prepared to offer 20 billion dollars for RADS, as discussed with President Valdez. This includes the condition that Raytheon will honor all existing commitments to the Armed Forces of the Philippines."
Michael nodded, appreciating their direct approach. "I agree with the terms. Additionally, I want to ensure that my employees are taken care of and that our ongoing projects continue without disruption."
"We've anticipated that," Harris replied. "We plan to retain your key personnel and integrate them into Raytheon to preserve the continuity and expertise that have made RADS successful."
Michael leaned back, feeling a sense of relief. "That's good to hear. What about the timeline for this transition?"
"We propose a phased approach over the next six months," Dr. Bennett explained. "This will allow us to smoothly integrate RADS' operations with minimal impact on current projects."
"Phased approach?" Michael asked, seeking clarification.
"Yes," Dr. Bennett replied. "We plan to start with the transfer of key managerial roles and gradually move towards full integration of operations. This means we will first onboard your executive team, and then work our way through the different departments, ensuring each one is fully integrated before moving to the next.
This way, we can address any issues that arise without disrupting ongoing projects."
Michael nodded. "That makes sense. What about the financial aspects? How will the payment be structured?"
Mark Thompson stepped in. "The payment will be made in installments. An initial lump sum of 10 billion dollars will be paid upon signing the agreement, followed by the remaining 10 billion over the next twelve months, contingent on meeting certain integration milestones."
Michael considered this. "And what about the commitments to the Armed Forces of the Philippines? How do you plan to handle those?"
Harris responded confidently. "We will honor all existing contracts and ensure that your commitments are met. In fact, we plan to expand on those agreements to provide even more advanced technology and support."
"That's reassuring," Michael said. "I want to make sure that the Armed Forces get the best possible support during this transition. Especially when a Chinese fighter jet just entered our airspace. I'm sure you have read and watched the news about it."
Dr. Bennett nodded. "Yes, we are fully aware of the situation. China is about to release a statement regarding that. But anyway, the United States would definitely step in if China were to take drastic measures in response to this incident. Your missile systems have proven crucial in maintaining our defense capabilities."
Michael felt a sense of relief knowing that the transition of RADS to Raytheon was moving forward smoothly and that the strategic importance of their technology was acknowledged.
"Let's finalize this, then," Michael said. "Where is the contract?"
Mark Thompson opened his briefcase and pulled out a thick stack of documents. "Right here, Mr. Reyes. We've prepared the contract based on our discussions and the terms we've agreed upon. I suggest we go through it section by section to ensure everything is clear and satisfactory."
Michael nodded, taking the contract. "Let's do that. I want to make sure every detail is covered."
For the next couple of hours, they reviewed the contract. They discussed the phased integration plan, the financial terms, and the specific clauses related to the commitments to the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
As they reached the end of the document, Michael leaned back in his chair, feeling more confident about the deal. "Looks good for me."
Johnathan Harris smiled. "Excellent. We believe this partnership will be mutually beneficial and pave the way for future collaborations."
Michael signed the contract, and Mark Thompson followed suit, making the deal official. "Welcome to Raytheon," Thompson said, shaking Michael's hand firmly.
"Thank you," Michael replied. "I'm looking forward to seeing the positive outcomes of this integration."
As the Raytheon representatives gathered their documents and prepared to leave, Michael stood up. "Juliet, please see our guests out and ensure they have everything they need."
"Of course, Mr. Reyes," Juliet said, guiding the representatives out of the office.
Once they were gone, Michael sat back down and since the topic of the Chinese fighter jet being brought up, he pulled out his cell phone and opened his Youtube act. There, a recently uploaded video news on the Chinese fighter jet incident caught his attention. He clicked on the video.
The video is titled. "Chinese Foreign Affairs Statement on the Philippine Fighter Jet Incident." Michael watched as a Chinese official stood behind a podium.
"Let's hear what she has to say," Michael said.
