[Current System Points: 0.]
[Current Mission Available: 99+]
At first, Michael sighed at the numbers displayed on his system points. It was zero. Who knew earning that many system points would be so hard from the start?
But when there are over 99 missions available, his concern about his balance would not last long. Michael knew he had to start tackling those missions soon. He closed the system interface and took a deep breath.
He needed to acquire a new technology powerful enough that he would have an upper hand against the United States or even China.
But why the United States? Didn't he just help them build a weather manipulation satellite powerful enough to alter the weather dynamics of the Earth?
In every technology, there is always a fail-safe in case someone misuses them. And he has a computer it that would allow him to learn every intention the United States government would want with it.
If they decided to attack China with it, he would learn about it, and when China caught on about the United States' plan to attack them, he could simply erase the satellite from existence and deem it useless, and it wouldn't trace back to him.
This was his way of controlling the United States. After all, the only reason he worked for them was simply that they were the Philippines' ally, and in case of a war, he had that guarantee from the president of the United States to protect the Philippines at all costs.
Of course, Michael knew it would be bullshit when the war started because, in the war, everyone was for themselves. So in part of the fail-safe plan, he had this chip embedded in its system that if the United States didn't support the Philippines, he would take over control of the satellite himself and use it to protect his homeland.
Michael understood the delicate balance of power and the need to stay one step ahead. With this in mind, he reviewed the list of available missions again.
He decided to start with the missions that would yield the highest number of points.
[Mission: Start a software industry in the Philippines.]
[Reward: 200,000 system points]
[Description: With the emergence of Artificial Intelligence, the need for advanced software and hardware has never been greater. Establish a semiconductor industry in the Philippines to enhance the country's technological capabilities and secure a strategic advantage.]
It was an interesting mission with a high yield of rewards but the problem was that he didn't have any system points to buy futuristic processing units like quantum processors.
That meant he couldn't take the mission just for now and he had to choose something with a mission that didn't need much of an investment that required system points rather he needed a mission that would earn him system points, no matter how small, but consistently.
Michael scrolled through the list of available missions, looking for one that he could start without needing an initial investment of system points. After a few moments, he found one that seemed promising.
[Start a fast food chain; Rewards 30,000 System Points.]
[Start a clothing brand; Rewards 25,000 System Points.]
Michael decided to take on both missions. They required less initial investment and could yield consistent system points. Besides, what's so hard about starting those two businesses?
Michael walked downstairs, the familiar scent of breakfast wafting through the air. As he entered the dining room, he saw his team gathered around the large wooden table, chatting and enjoying their meal. Bridget, Juliet, Antoinette, and Myra were all there, their faces lighting up as they saw him.
"Good morning, everyone," Michael greeted, taking a seat at the head of the table. "I see breakfast is in full swing."
"Good morning, Michael," Bridget replied with a warm smile. "Oh, I know that look on your face. It's a look where you have another business idea and you can't wait to tell us about it."
Michael laughed, appreciating how well Bridget knew him. "You're right. I've been thinking about new ventures we can start and don't worry, it's not going to be the same old futuristic technology. It's going to be a casual one and for that, I'm going to need your expertise, especially you, Mrs. Estolas."
"Oh thank you for saying that," Antoneitte chuckled softly. "What do you have in mind, Michael?"
Michael took a deep breath, ready to share his ideas. "I'm considering starting a fast food chain and a clothing brand. These are industries with high demand and they don't require a significant initial investment compared to more tech-intensive projects."
Juliet looked intrigued. "What do you have in mind for these brands?"
"For the fast food chain, I want to focus on providing healthier options alongside traditional favorites. Think fast food that doesn't compromise on nutrition. We can source ingredients locally, which will also support local farmers and suppliers."
Myra smiled approvingly. "That sounds like a wonderful idea. Healthy eating is becoming more popular, and there's definitely a market for it."
"And for the clothing brand," Michael continued, "I envision a line that combines comfort, style, and sustainability. We can use eco-friendly materials and ethical production practices. It will appeal to the growing number of consumers who care about the environment and social responsibility."
Bridget looked impressed. "Those are great ideas, Michael. I can already see both ventures doing well."
Juliet was quick to add, "We should start by conducting market research to identify key locations for our fast food chain and understand the current fashion trends for our clothing brand. I can begin working on that right away."
"Agreed," Michael said. "Antoinette, I'd like you to handle the financial projections and initial investment plans for both ventures. Bridget, you can oversee the branding and marketing strategies. We need to create strong, recognizable brands from the start."
Antoinette and Bridget nodded, already thinking about their respective tasks.
"I'll also start looking into potential partnerships with local suppliers for both businesses," Antoinette said. "Ensuring we have reliable and quality sources is crucial."
Michael felt a surge of motivation seeing his team so engaged and supportive. "Thank you, everyone. I know this is a big undertaking, but with our combined efforts, I'm confident we can make it happen."
