Like an employee slacking off at work, he aimed to solve the problem as quickly as possible to avoid overtime.

For an enemy that could be taken down with a pull of the trigger, he really couldn’t muster the desire to give them a second glance.

The only thing that somewhat interested him was the state of these guys when they transformed.

“Can they only be completely killed by shooting them in the head?”

Leonard Churchill had changed two magazines and had almost cleaned out all the gunmen within sight.

It had to be said, these vampire-like fellows had much stronger defense and regenerative abilities than the average Card Master Apprentice.

If it wasn’t a shot to the eye socket, it might not even kill them.

Normally, if the “unexpected” Leonard Churchill hadn’t shown up, these bandits might have actually managed to assassinate Vera Williams.

Too bad for them.

The square-faced security guard was entangled in a fight with the Second Tier assassin, and Leonard Churchill was using his firearms to suppress “Iron Arm” Kutun, the boss with a mechanical arm.

After all, with just ordinary firearms against a semi-mechanical soldier whose every vital part was covered in heavy armor, his efforts seemed somewhat feeble.

Leonard Churchill could only aim at the joints and some exposed pipes of the armor, temporarily slowing down the metallic brute’s assault.

But as the fight went on, most of Miss Williams’ bodyguards were seriously wounded.

Leonard Churchill could only keep firing while moving towards them.

After coming into the public eye, the remaining bandits mistook him for one of the Song Family’s bodyguards and secretly aimed their guns at him.

Leonard Churchill, however, walked out leisurely. Whenever he sensed something like being pricked by a needle, he would just swing his gun in that direction and precisely headshot an assassin.

As he made his way over, he also realized that after mastering the basics of “air,” he was starting to get a hang of the ability to sense the “killing intention” of others.

As long as an enemy locked him with killing intention, Leonard Churchill could feel it as if a needle was pricking his forehead.

This sensation was becoming increasingly clear.

As he walked, Leonard Churchill muttered to himself, “Tsk tsk… this is really not bad.”

The bandits were still able to give him a bit of a sense of danger, which was no small feat.

As Leonard Churchill approached Vera Williams, he also attracted a lot of fire. “Iron Arm” Kutun glared and suddenly turned his mechanical arm to launch a steam-powered Mechanical Flying Claw at him.

Almost simultaneously, two voices cried out, “Be careful!”

One belonged to Vera Williams, standing a few meters away.

The other came from “Pigeon” hidden in a distant corner.

Without even giving the bald man a second look, Leonard Churchill glanced in two other directions.

That “Pigeon,” who hadn’t been scared witless by the situation and who had observed the crisis sharply enough to shout a warning, indeed had some talent.

At least according to Senior Shepherd, this kid already possessed the most difficult-to-find quality in a martial artist—courage!

As for Miss Williams, Leonard Churchill gave her a slight smile and mouthed a silent thank you.

Then he tilted his head just as a massive mechanical arm whizzed past, grazing his scalp.

The mechanical equipment was too clumsy. Even in his weakened state, Leonard Churchill found it too easy to predict. Such things posed no threat to him at all.

Because the Mechanical Flying Claw was fired, it exposed several flaws of the bandits.

Leonard Churchill fired back with two shots, bang bang, breaking the hydraulic transmission pipes of the mechanical arm.

“Hiss hiss hiss…” Steam exploded, and in an instant, the bald man’s mechanical armor malfunctioned and crashed then and there.

Leonard Churchill couldn’t help but comment, “Even Sinless City doesn’t have such outdated armors…”

Watching the sudden emergence of Leonard Churchill, whether it was the Rose Chamber of Commerce, the refugees, or other forces, everyone was stunned.

In a very short time, this “stranger” had almost single-handedly turned the tide of the battle with just one gun.

With the situation now under control, the Security Squad Leader with the square face, who was fighting against the Second Tier assassin, also breathed a sigh of relief as he could now focus on dealing with the assassin.

Although the assassin was tough in his bloodsucking transformation, he was after all one of the elite trained by the Song Family. In a short period, he had suppressed his opponent.

It looked like the battle would be over before long.

“`

“Who is this master gunman?”

“Oh, the Rose Chamber of Commerce actually had such an expert hidden among the refugees, no wonder that lady dares to come out often.”

“It’s good Miss Williams is alright. We’re really lucky.”

“These damn bandits, they’re truly despicable. We refugees could finally eat and work because of Miss Williams… and now they come to wreak havoc again. Serves them right to die!”

“Yes, serves them right!”

“…”

The refugees and residents of Bolton Mechanical Town watched as the situation was brought under control, only then daring to show their faces and indignantly pointing fingers and making remarks.

Coming to their senses, everybody felt emotional as they looked at the bodies with blown-off heads on the ground.

The “mysterious master gunman” had almost always shot to kill with a single shot to the head, even if a second shot was fired, it was only to create an opportunity for a headshot with tactical maneuvers.

This level of marksmanship could certainly be considered that of a Firearms Master.

Everybody cast shocked but admiring gazes toward Leonard Churchill.

The bald bandit leader “Iron Arm” Kutun, although not dead, was trapped and immobilized inside the lump of metal due to the damage to his mechanical armor.

Leonard Churchill had no interest in dealing with him but kept an eye on the crowd around him from the corner of his eye.

The assassin had appeared, but the mastermind behind the scenes had yet to reveal themselves.

His instincts told him that perhaps the person who paid for the hit was present at the scene.

It had to be said that coming to this world “naked” had its advantages.

Without the support of the many supreme treasures he once had, Leonard Churchill had no choice but to rely entirely on his own body to respond to the crisis.

That state of “exposure” in the midst of danger allowed him to experience a clarity he had never felt before.

It was as if every pore in his body was breathing in unison, sensing every thread of air.

Leonard Churchill extended his perception to the fullest, carefully recalling the feeling of capturing that sense of crisis.

At that moment, he suddenly sensed a “malicious intention.”

With a glance out of the corner of his eye, Leonard Churchill looked towards a small window on the Mechanical Fortress and murmured to himself, “Huh… is the mastermind behind the assassination from within Machinery City?”

He didn’t act, as to not startle the snake in the grass.

After all, someone who could afford to hire a Second Tier assassin could have a significant status. Shooting toward Machinery City might alert them.

Just as the assassination farce seemed about to end, Leonard Churchill suddenly sensed something, “There’s someone else!”

The intention was in the crowd, and it was too late to shoot.

Without a second thought, he lunged forward, shielding Vera Williams with his body.

In an instant, a black flying needle streaked through his forearm like a shooting star.

Leonard Churchill had already spotted the relic—Emick’s Poisonous Bee Flying Pin—but in his current state, his body was simply not fast enough to block it, so he forcibly used his arm to alter its trajectory.

Even without his Curse Power restored and most of his muscle mass gone, his flesh and bones were not something an ordinary weapon could easily penetrate.

The relic flying needle only made a shallow puncture in his arm.

Leonard Churchill’s eyes flickered, not wanting to expose the special nature of his body, he pretended to fall over, covering the wound and the needle.

However, this act had drained all the energy he had gotten from the black bread he had just eaten, and he almost didn’t manage to stand up again.

Luckily, the person in the crowd who had used the flying needle to kill didn’t dare to reveal themselves, having failed their attempt, they had already gone into hiding.

Leonard Churchill was indeed very weak and didn’t try to get up, so he simply lay there on the ground.

To outsiders, his condition seemed severe at a glance.

Including Miss Williams of the Song Family.

Two meters away, Vera Williams saw Leonard Churchill fall. She realized that this stranger had saved her and, disregarding her own safety, she popped her head out from behind a low wall, asking timidly and anxiously, “Sir, are you alright?”

Leonard Churchill looked at her and initially felt fine, but a flash of teasing appeared in his eyes, and he responded, “Yeah. There’s something wrong. Quite serious, actually.”

Just now, he felt like there was no meal to eat.

Now, it seemed he had found one.
