Chapter 27 - Important ally.
"What nonsense!" Jing Tian slammed her fists on the table, scrunched the newspaper, throwing it away angrily. "You old fool! Do you have no brain in you? Why would you allow them to bring this newspaper to me? Is it because you want to provoke me? It must be... You’ve always liked that bitch. You must have done it on purpose!"
"Youngest Miss, this is the routine newspaper they deliver daily."
"Then why do I see that bitch on it! I don’t want to even see her ugly face!"
"Miss, I’ll be cautious from now on" He took away the torn newspaper. On the first page, there was a picture of Jing Lihua. It was all about the charity work she was doing. She had opened a small shop, in the middle of the slums, to feed the homeless and treat the orphans. The page was full of people praising her. Butler Zhou smiled inwardly but he didn’t let it reveal on his face.
"Tian’er rest easy. We will sure get back at her for what she did."
"I won’t rest easy as long as that bitch doesn’t disappear from the face of the world! Humph!"
"It won’t take long. We both are aware of the bad investments she has made. Sooner or later she will end herself on her own. Then she will have no way to go but you. We can easily have our revenge then."
Listening to it Jing Tian was placated. "You are right. After all, she doesn’t have a bit of talent in her. Just a stupid novice and her stupid grandfather already gave the whole enterprise in her hands. I can’t wait for the day till she makes a fool of herself and ruins that company. I would like to see where her arrogance rest then. I would never forgive her even if she begs she for it when the day comes. She will have to suffer the consequences of her actions."
"That will be soon"
Meanwhile, her brother walked down the stairs with a somewhat pale face.
"Xiao meimei"
"What happened?"
"Jing Lihua... the shares she brought. Her total investments have exceeded more than fifty percent of profits in just fifteen days. We were totally wrong."
...
On the highest floor of Tang Empire twin skyscr.a.p.ers, Jing Lihua was seated in her luxurious office.
"Take a seat, Mr. Heng."
Heng Bingwen walked through the huge office and sat on the seat in front of her. The woman who faced him had a small, confident smile that looked quite warm. Her green eyes were resolute. She knew what she wanted and she would get it by all means.
Heng Bingwen never trusted those unscrupulous autocratic.
"Mr. Heng, I suppose you know why you were invited here."
"I received a letter from Tang enterprise." He intentionally kept his voice low and timid. He would never let the person know who he actually was before properly accessing them first.
"And... Have you decided?"
"I’m afraid I must decline"
"Well..." He could trace a fleeting smile on her face as she got up from her chair. What was that about? "Would you care to explain why you decline such a good offer? It is a known fact that one would do anything to get a place in the Tang enterprise. Then why must you decline?"
"I think I’m not worthy to serve as the secretary in the Tang enterprise. I’ve no degree, no experience. I don’t see why President Jing, would even be willing to allow me in her company"
The whole matter was suspicious. He wouldn’t even have shown up here if it wasn’t the President of Tang enterprise. She was powerful. He couldn’t easily run from her.
"Why do I not believe you?" She passed across the table and stood in front of him. "You do not decline because you think you are not worthy of Tang enterprise Heng Bingwen" She passed, her brilliant eyes glinted; it looked like she knew everything. It gave Heng Bingwen a sudden chill. "Or should I say Cyber_Knight"
He instantly stood up. His eyes widened with shock. Did she know? Then did it mean... He shouldn’t have come here. He must get out of here before its too late.
"You want to run out? My guards are standing just outside. And there are dozens of them. You can’t fight them with your small technical gadgets." Jing Lihua laughed lightly and went back to her seat.
"What do you want?" His timidness vanished replaced with a stern and sharp look. "Is it why you bought my mother’s shop? Is it why you offered her that job? Was it all to lure me out?"
"You think very highly of yourself. My acquaintance with your mother has nothing to do with you." He could see her eyes mocking him.
"Is it my Heng family behind it then? I clearly stated I’ll give up my right on inheritance as long as they left me and my mother alone."
She took her seat and motioned him to sit. Having no option, it was only wise to do as she said. So he sat and listened to her patiently.
"As I said before your mother has nothing to do with me wanting you in my company. And I’ve no connections to your Heng family. You do not need to fear me."
"I do not trust you. My uncle Heng HuiZhong is the biggest investor in your company. Why would you want me here?"
"I suppose you also know that your uncle is a mole installed by Su Liwei."
Heng Bigwen gaped her for a second before replying. "Why are you even telling me that...? Is this why you want me in your company?"
"I want you in my company because I recognize your potential."
"Heng Bingwen, you have suffered a lot by the hands of your family. They are after you so it is only natural you don’t trust anyone readily. You were the rightful heir but you were kicked out. I know they won’t rest until they finish you..."
"And I also know that with all the things you are trying to do as Cyber_Knight, you have got yourself quite a large number of powerful enemies." He detected something in her eyes. Amus.e.m.e.nt? Admiration? Whatever it was, he couldn’t quite understand her. "But how long can you go? You are one and they are many. You, along with your mother, will always be vulnerable."
Heng Bingwen fell into silence. His mother was his weakness. He could put himself at risk but, not her.
"And who will provide us protection? You?"
"Yes, I’ll, if you accept my proposition"
"And what exactly is your proposition? I expect it requires much more than just a company’s secretary."
"I’ll have quite some jobs for you now and then. You must realize the higher one gets, the greater the number of enemies he has. The same. I’ve many. And I want someone proficient to deal with them. Someone proficient and trustworthy."
"And what makes you think trustworthy?"
To that, she only smiled at him.
"A hunch"
She was crazy.
"I know that you are still suspicious but with my protection, you’ll have no one to fear. You can grow without any restraint. And most of it...", she looked at him with unfathomable eyes; all the time maintaining an unfaltering smile, "You will have a chance to avenge those who wronged you and your mother."
This was the last thing Heng Bingwen needed to hear. Every night, he would plan out the ways to revenge not only him but his mother. Revenge for the horrible state they have reduced them. If something had motivated him to do all the hard work till now then it was them, the intense hatred he held towards the Heng family. Then how could he resist the temptation? That woman had touched his weak point.
"I accept your offer"
"Good. The first thing I want you to do is to find out who is keeping track of my all activities. I tried myself but for some reason, the person seems to be one level above me. I can not find who is it or where is it from. Can you find it?"
"Consider it done"
