Chapter 84 - Confronting Su Liwei.
When Jing Lihua walked out of Zhao Liying’s room, she saw a man standing not far from there. "Su Liwei?" What was he doing here? Standing outside like that. Without giving him much attention, she wanted to head for the elevator. But just as she paused him, she was stopped by him.
"Is there anything you want to say, Mr. Su?" Her response, like always, was formal. Like she was addressed to a formal acquaintance.
"Come with me inside. I want to discuss something with you." Su Liwei’s expressions were unreadable. Like always. His voice was cold, unwilling to reveal any hint of his true intentions.
"What is it that can’t be discussed outside?"
Su Liwei didn’t say anything.
"I’m rather busy. I’ve something to do." Jing Lihua thought she was going to be late. President Li was an important man. She couldn’t commit the sin of making him wait for her. He might be a shameless pervert in front of her, but she still recalled why was he called ’Devil’ in the business world.
"Are you trying to avoid me?" Su Liwei said after a pause of silence. "You haven’t talked to me once on the fashion show. I have noticed it. But it was not only me who noticed that. The guests and the media did too. The rumors that would arise due to this would only result in negative consequences for you."
Jing Lihua laughed. "I don’t think you’ll care for whether these rumors influence me adversely or not." There wasn’t a ripple in Jing Lihua’s expressions. Like the man in front of him didn’t affect her at all. Her eyes were sharp and determined.
Su Liwei froze for a second. "I don’t have any reason to hate you so..."
"You don’t?" Jing Lihua stepped towards him. Her demeanor was confident and unshakable. For a moment Su Liwei almost didn’t recognize the woman in front of him. The aura that surrounded her was so different from the one that Jing Lihua used to possess in the beginning. She used to be weak and delicate, giving a man an urge to shield and protect her. But now, there was an unspeakable strength in her character.
Was it the same Jing Lihua who would cower and cry at little things? The same Jing Lihua who wouldn’t be able to hold eye contact with him for more than a minute.
Ever since their wedding, Su Liwei had observed her change. But he felt like her change was only growing more and more pronounced with time.
"I am aware of your involvement in my company." Jing Lihua had an unwavering smile. Su Liwei might have affected her in the past but now that she had recovered her memories, he didn’t affect her at all. Jing Lihua was happy to know of that progress. "I’m aware of all the moles you have placed in my company and all the spies. Over the past five years, they have been constantly trying to bring a decline to my company. I suppose you have also guessed by now that I’ve discovered you. In fact, discovered you a long time ago. So... Are you still going to say you have no reason to hate me? If not for that, why would you be doing that all?"
The main confidence of Jing Lihua to fully confront Su Liwei came from Li Zhiqiang. If he was by her side, she had nothing to fear. Jing Lihua didn’t want to rely on him much. But at the same time, she didn’t want Su Liwei to hurt her family.
Now that Li Zhiqiang was by her side, at least her grandfather’s safety would be assured. And with that, she had nothing that would hold her back. If it was her alone who fought Su Liwei, she wouldn’t have held back since the beginning. Her concern for her grandfather had held her back since the beginning.
She still remembered the feeling when she had learned in her last life that he died. She was devastated. In fact, the matter had caused her to change.
When Su Liwei heard Jing Lihua, he merely smiled in response. "You have kept yourself hidden until now. What gave you the confidence to come and confront me directly? Do you think you have grown powerful enough to challenge me in Beijing?"
"What do you think?" His threat didn’t scare her.
Su Liwei expressions eased a little. He stepped towards her, intending to grab her wrist. "Come with me inside." His room was just ahead.
Jing Lihua pulled back her wrist. "I’ll listen to whatever you have to say. But please refrain from physical contact." Her eyes were cold.
Su Liwei paused, glanced at her and with an expressionless face, he walked into his room. Jing Lihua didn’t know whether she should follow him or not. She sighed. It wouldn’t kill her to listen to whatever he had to say. After all, in her last life, he hadn’t ever voluntarily approached her.
Jing Lihua walked in and closed the door. She leaned against the close door, unwilling to go in the room any further. "Speak. What do you have to say that couldn’t be said outside?"
"Growing more and more valiant, aren’t you? Be careful. Your bravery might cost you something big." Su Liwei’s eyes didn’t look cold angry. In fact, there was a hint of amus.e.m.e.nt and dare in them.
Jing Lihua’s lips curled up. "You don’t have to worry about that. I assure you, Mr. Su, you won’t be able to make something like that happen." Jing Lihua was fearless. She had feared him enough in her last life. This time, she was going to show him that she was someone who couldn’t be bullied.
"It might not be me who intends to bring harm to you."
"Is this what you intended to tell me? That there is someone who intends to harm me." Jing Lihua maintained her calm smile. "But being a businesswoman, I can’t trust your words only, can I?"
"But you’ll have to make an exception on me," Su Liwei waled to the couch and sat cross-legged directly facing Jing Lihua."I have a proposition for you. A preposition if you want to save yourself and... your grandfather."
