Chapter 234 232: Using Their Advantage Against Them! (Part A)

?

What did Level 38 Thunder Wolves in a Level 2 dungeon signify?

It signified massive trouble.

To understand it better, a few basic things about dungeons have to be explained.

Dungeons, you see, could grow and change. If you don't keep an eye on them, who knows what they'll turn into?

Basically, dungeons are quite similar to moths. They could both evolve. It's just that moths become beautiful butterflies, while dungeons become more dangerous and horrifying.

Dungeons have two distinct evolutionary paths.

Either they would level up and become an even nastier and dangerous place, or they would pull off a 'dungeon break' once they reach 100% maturity.

How do you gauge the state of a dungeon?

Well, it's a bit like checking the weather before you step outside.

Putting aside the awful dad's joke, the state of a dungeon could be gauged through various factors. The danger level of its terrain and the caliber of the dungeon monsters it hosted were key indicators.

In other words, having Level 38 mobs in a Level 2 dungeon was an anomaly, signaling that the dungeon was on the cusp of progressing to Level 3.

"I'd better clear this place out before it upgrades."

If the dungeon undergoes an upgrade, things would become so much more complicated.

It would simply be too much for Val to handle.

After all, to begin with, he was never confident about completing a level 3 dungeon depending on himself and his level 2 undead.

'Let's gain a better understanding of what I am up against before considering what to do next.'

When this thought crossed his mind, Val cast Detect while gazing at the corpses.

Immediately, a holographic screen, displaying their stats and details in great detail, popped up in front of him.

Name: Thunder Wolves

Level: 32

Strength: 30, Agility: 30, Stamina: 30.

Skills: Nocturnal Vision, Electric Bite, Lightning Blast.

Special Trait: Attracted to Light.]

Val scrutinized the information.

It revealed all sorts of details about the Thunder Wolves, including their level, strength, agility, stamina, and unique skills. Although other miscellaneous details were also displayed, Val conveniently ignored them, considering them irrelevant to his current situation.

After going through the notification, Val gained a better understanding of the Thunder Wolves and realized that the dungeon was clearly designed to favor its native inhabitants.

Its dark environment would force any person without the ability to see in the dark to use torches or magical light to navigate, making them easy targets for the Thunder Wolves, who were attracted to light.

'Thankfully, I am a bit special and can see in the dark due to my Noctune Vision Trait.'

Val's unique traits enabled him to see in the dark, allowing him to circumvent the dungeon's dangerous mechanisms.

Otherwise, he would've been embroiled in deep trouble.

"Their sensitivity to light can really work in my favor," Val thought to himself, his lips curling into a devilish smile that would make anyone shudder.

Snapping his fingers, weird changes started happening in the space around him. It was as if reality itself was breaking, with cracks appearing out of nowhere. These cracks widened, becoming big enough for a full-grown person to walk through. Then, from those eerie openings, several of his Level 2 undead minions made their entrance, appearing as if called from some dark underworld.

"Alright, guys, get to work. Take apart those Thunder Wolves and let's see what useful stuff we can get from them." Val ordered his undead.

The undead got to work immediately, but they were clumsily tearing into the corpses, not particularly gentle with their task.

The Thunder Wolves had fur that could really come in handy, especially in the freezing Northern Frontier, the coldest spot people could live in the kingdom. Having good fur for insulation there was basically striking gold.

"Handle it with care, you're damaging the fur," Val reprimanded his undead after noticing their clumsy work. He continued, "Their fur's gotta weight in gold back in the frontier, so don't ruin it."

The undead followed his command to the best of their ability, now skillfully separating the furs from the corpses before tearing them apart and digging out cores from their bodies.

When all was said and done, Val looked at the loot his minions had gathered and placed in front of him

He scratched his chin and narrowed his eyes. He had gotten 3 Thunder Wolves Furs in good condition, 2 in bad condition, and 5 Level 3 cores.

Among these cores, two were for enhancing agility, two were for enhancing strength, and one was for stamina.

Level 3 cores were effective on Val.

Thus, without wasting any more time, he absorbed the cores right there and then.

The next moment, multiple notifications popped up in his vision.

[System Notification: "Your Strength has increased by 2."]

[System Notification: "Your Agility has increased by 2."]

[System Notification: "Your Stamina has increased by 1."]

Val grinned, thinking it was a good haul.

Then, the look on his face said he was already scheming about what to do next.

Before putting his plan into motion, he needed to do a few things.

First, he took in the blood of the fallen Thunder Wolves with his Blood Absorption skill, increasing the quantity of blood in his blood bar. Then, Val put the undead into the Shrine of Evil and the loot into the void orb's pocket dimension. They disappeared, leaving Val standing alone in the dark forest with a bunch of corpses.

Finally, he punched out five times, activating his Hellish Fist Skill five times.

A grey fireball erupted from his hand each time the skill activated, igniting the wolf carcasses in a burst of flames, Shua! Shua!

In a dark place like this, the sudden appearance of fire was like a spotlight on a dark stage.

With five of them appearing at the same time, it was as eye-catching as a beacon in the night.

It was impossible to ignore, especially for beasts who hunt in the darkness of the night like the Thunder Wolves.

Awooooo!

Clear and bestial roars erupted throughout the forest
