Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log

Chapter 111

Chapter 111:

We kindly ask for your understanding regarding the inconsistency of character pronouns, particularly for the Entities (ex. The Greedy Predator). In Korean, pronouns are rarely used, making it challenging to ascertain a character's gender or identity until later narratives unfold. This wasn’t Seora’s first encounter with a crumbling world. She discreetly glanced at Seong Jarim, whose expression lacked cheerfulness. Her expression relaxed a bit when Seora took her hand.

Kang Sejun, utilizing his detection abilities, shook his head. “I don’t sense any living organisms.”

With caution, everyone concealed their movements and proceeded forward. The remnants of buildings showed that people had once lived here, but there was no sign of life.

Oliver broke the silence, remarking, “It feels strangely familiar.”

“Have you been here before?”

“No, never. But it feels familiar, like I’ve lived here.”

Although he had never set foot in this place, the sense of familiarity could only mean one thing.

“It must be connected to your Entity.”

As the bond with their Entity strengthened, contractees became more acquainted with them. It was not uncommon for those at the L-class level to unconsciously catch glimpses of their Entity’s memories.

“If it’s a place related to my Entity…” Oliver’s expression grew serious. His entity was the Archangel, and only one revelation was directly associated with it.

The Revelation.”

The world in the Book of Revelation, the final book and prophecy of the New Testament.

There was a high possibility that this place was directly linked to the prophecies described in the Book of Revelation. Dungeons sometimes embodied the myths and legends of reality, making it quite plausible.

However, there was one profoundly significant concern.

“Could it be that the events prophesied in the Revelation have crumbled? That can’t be true.”

“It’s a parallel world,” Seong Jarim declared, scooping up a handful of soil from the devastated land. As she surveyed the destroyed world for the second time, an indescribable emotion gripped her. “If there’s a world where prophecies are fulfilled, there can also be a world where they are not. This place is the very embodiment of that alternative.”

While the others wore doubtful expressions, Seora and Kang Sejun immediately grasped the concept. So, this was a dimension where prophecies had failed.

“Have you received any insights from your Entity?” Kang Sejun inquired.

“The severed connection hasn’t been restored yet,” Oliver replied, shaking his head.

For some reason, upon entering the Labyrinth, the connection between the Entity and the contractee was severed. It would be restored quickly, but it was inevitable to feel discomfort during those moments.

‘But did the connection between Liza and me also get severed?’

Seora pondered, glancing at the empty space. She didn’t sense any abrupt disconnection…

【Administrator: (ง ˙∇˙)ว】

Upon seeing the playful emoticon, Seora felt a sense of relief. Yes, she should focus on the things that truly mattered.

“I feel sick.”

Julian’s voice trembled as he covered his mouth, trying to suppress a wave of nausea. Instantly, everyone assumed combat stances upon hearing his brief words.

“What’s approaching?”

“I don’t know. I don’t sense anything, but it’s genuinely dreadful.”

“My detection doesn’t pick up anything.”

No one dared to dismiss Julian’s words, despite Kang Sejun’s statement. Julian Martinez, the top-ranked individual in the United States and widely recognized as the world’s best, possessed a unique strength: his intuition. It surpassed even the abilities of a Class L.

“I’ll scout from the air,” Kang Sejun announced, soaring into the sky. As he surveyed the surroundings, his expression quickly hardened. “Snakes are approaching!”

“How many are there?”

“At least thousands.”

“With such a massive swarm, how did we not notice them earlier!?” Monique exclaimed, frustration evident in her voice. Kang Sejun clicked his tongue in response.

“I don’t sense any vitality or presence from them. They’re like creatures from the Labyrinth.” Even for someone as skilled as Kang Sejun, detecting beings without vitality or presence was challenging. “They’re coming from a single direction, so let’s launch a wide-range attack first.”

With a swift motion of his hand, the ground beneath the seven of them surged upward. In the distance, the horizon seemed to be teeming with thousands of snakes. It was a repulsive sight that could make anyone feel nauseous.

“The Revelation and the snakes. Oliver, can you make any sense of what’s happening?” Ali inquired.

Oliver clicked his tongue. How could he not know? The Revelation and the “serpent” were intertwined entities.

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns on its heads.” [T/N: This quote is directly from Chapter 12 of the Book of Revelation in the Bible.]

“That’s from the Book of Revelation?”

“It’s a prophecy mentioned in Chapter 12. The serpent is referred to as the ‘Red Dragon of Revelation.'”

A colossal, fiery red dragon with seven heads, each adorned with a crown, and ten horns. The ultimate demon of the apocalypse. However, it was defeated in a war against the angels and cast down to Earth. The angels emerged victorious and returned to the presence of God.

Yet, this devastated world contradicted the contents of Revelation.

“So, this is Armageddon.” It was a world where, contrary to the prophecy, the angels had been defeated in the final war. A land where the dragon devoured the woman and her child. A world where the dragon dominated the skies.

“Do you remember when Nidhogg appeared? Was it on the 3rd or 4th floors?”

“It was on the 3rd floor. We lost twelve S-classes there before deciding to send only the L-classes.”

The Red Dragon of Revelation, speculated to be even stronger than Nidhogg, who had mercilessly slain twelve S-classes. How many of the eight of them would survive and escape through the gate?

“But this time, it might be easier,” Seora voiced her thoughts, capturing everyone’s attention.

“What do you mean?”

“If the prophecy has crumbled, it would imply that all the angels in this world have perished. However, unlike them, we come from a different world and have an Archangel.”

According to the prophecy, the Archangel Michael cast down the red dragon from the sky into the depths of hell. And Oliver Ross was the one who had formed a contract with Michael.

“I hope Oliver Ross has a strong connection with his Entity.”

A deeper bond would mean a quicker restoration of the severed connection. It was a request, a plea for the connection to be reestablished before the Dragon of Revelation made its appearance. Otherwise, they would all meet their demise.

“For now, let’s focus on dealing with the snakes. If they manage to restrain us while we’re fighting the dragon, we’ll be in serious trouble. DPS, step forward,” Ali commanded.

At her words, Kang Sejun the Mage, Julian the Ranger, and Seora, proficient in long-range attacks, stepped forward.

“Are you planning to pick them off one by one with your rifle?” Garcia, who had taken a step back as a Tanker, muttered to Seora. Seora snorted. Well, I’ll make sure to widen your mouth with it.

“That could work too, I suppose. But why bother with such trivialities when I have something like this?” With no need for subtlety now that she had reached the L-class, she transformed her sniper rifle right before their eyes.

What she unveiled was a thrillingly powerful Gatling gun. The gun materialized with a thud, leaving everyone wide-eyed.

“What? It can transform!?”

“A Gatling machine gun on top of that? Y-y-y-you! What on earth is that thing!?”

“I want it! Give it to me! I want it!”

Garcia, Monique, and Julian started causing a commotion. Oliver and Ali were rendered speechless by the sight of this unfamiliar weapon.

“Yun Seora… You… You can transform it like that?” Kang Sejun’s eyes widened in surprise, unaware of Hit’s capabilities beyond its Colt and sniper rifle forms. Seong Jarim, the only one privy to this knowledge, chuckled as she observed their astonished expressions.

“Well, no time for small talk. Let’s start by exterminating those snakes,” Seora declared, her intention to provide further explanations clearly nonexistent. With a wide grin, she began unleashing a barrage of fire from the Gatling gun.

Bullets streamed endlessly from the rapidly spinning six barrels. The recoil of the Gatling gun, capable of firing around 3,000 rounds per minute, was effortlessly absorbed by the gloves bestowed by the Administrator.

Seora couldn’t contain her excitement as the snakes disintegrated instantly under the onslaught. As an EX-class weapon, it consumed minimal mana, allowing her to fire without concern. The sensation of unleashing such firepower was truly exhilarating.

Hahaha. You disgusting monster bastards. This is the power of modern weaponry!

“To think someone could be so fit with a Gatling gun.”

“I bet she’d make a great scout for the army, wouldn’t she? She’d be an unstoppable force.”

“Yeah, I never expected to encounter a wide-range DPS like her.”

As the number of snake heads rapidly dwindled, everyone couldn’t help but gossip among themselves.

They had never witnessed someone wielding a Gatling gun in the dungeon before. Due to the immense mana consumption, no one had bothered to create such equipment, assuming that there wouldn’t be anyone capable of using it. Yet, Headbang, who had recently reached the L-class, proved them wrong.

If she possessed such strength without even employing her skills, they could only imagine how much her combat prowess would escalate when she did utilize them.

“By the way, she seems way too excited while taking down those snakes.”

“Yeah, you’re right. I thought she was always calm and composed, but apparently, that’s not the case at all.”josei

Monique and Ali whispered to each other as they observed Seora, who energetically reloaded her weapon. Jarim, standing nearby, interjected, “Don’t underestimate Yun Seora. Her smile is more than just a smile. If you cross her, it truly means the end. Be cautious.”

Monique and Ali nodded, taking Jarim’s sincere advice seriously.

“Despite all this commotion and fighting, there’s no sign of anything else appearing,” Oliver murmured, his senses keenly attuned to their surroundings.

Despite their intense onslaught, the surroundings remained ominously silent. It was difficult to believe that the 8th floor of the Labyrinth would only be inhabited by snakes.

[T/N: You might want to read Chapter 12 of the Book of Revelation from the Bible for a clearer picture. It isn’t that long, but it might give you a sense of what the “Revelation” should look like since the 8th Labyrinth is its direct contrast. No, you don’t have to be a Christian to read the Bible, and no, you won’t be a heretic just because you read it.]
