Chapter 42: Grey hair (2)

“Sure. The place where the man first appeared was at the ant cave famous for power hunting for users Level 300~350. And the skills he used were mostly AoE skills. So, I think he’ll most likely be in a place where he can enjoy the drive hunt.”

“Hmm.”

Kim groaned, stroking his chin while hearing Jang’s prediction. Then, he immediately nodded, “Good. Search for him at the drive-hunt places, if possible.”

“Sure, will do, sir.”

Daesung Group started to search for the man secretly, using the clues about the man in ragged clothing and white hair as described in the report.

***

The next day.

I bought a set of Cydin armor with Enhancement 3 and then logged out right away because it was already past 1 PM. Then I woke up early in the morning, had cereal for breakfast, and accessed the game immediately. After that, I stood in front of the Teleport Zone here at Kotum Castle, when I vividly recalled the memories of the battle from yesterday.

‘Will they search for me?’

I was afraid they might search for me not only at the ant caves but also other hunting grounds.

Of course, given the fact that I’m so worried like this, it would have been much better for me to kneel down and pay the price they wanted rather than simply bowing to them, but the atmosphere at that time was certainly threatening. They clearly showed their willingness to attack me as if they were an absolute strongman, suggesting that killing one user was not a big deal.

That’s why I launched the attack first because I had no intention of being attacked foolishly when the situation was so clear.

‘Dang it! Let me play it safe. I better stand it a little more as things have gotten messed up.’

Originally, I thought of other hunting grounds where I could enjoy the drive hunt like the ant caves because Level 3 AoE skills featuring Ice Field, Pouring Hailstones and Ice Blast were optimized for power farming.

However, in case of an unpredictable situation, I chose a general hunting ground, not the drive hunt place. Despite that, I was confident in leveling up faster than others.

“Let me move to the Salamander Habitat.”

It was a hunting ground ideal for ice-type wizards, or a wider range of water-type wizards because the water series was supposed to be superior to the fire series by nature.

Of course, I do not know exactly how superior it is because I can’t find any relevant information on the Revival Legend homepage. But the fact that only 1% is superior to the fire type, the Salamander Habitat must be an attractive hunting ground for ice-based wizards, just like how fire-type wizards like the place where the cursed Ent, or the wood monster, appeared.

Of course, this only applied to monsters, so it didn’t matter to the players.

Stronger players prevailed among others because they do not control their characters like monsters with water or fire abilities only, which also applies to the users’ skills. When water-type skills and fire-type skills clash, the stronger one wins no matter how small the difference between them is.

That’s why the eleven enemies yesterday used fire-type magic blindly against me who used ice-based magic.

Anyway, the Salamander Habitat soon emerged.

“We accept ice-type wizard parties with Level 350 or higher.”

“I am a Level 370 water-type wizard. I have a lot of Level 3 skills. I can hunt for more than 10 hours.”

“We buy all the flames, scales, and the flame tails of the salamanders.”

The place was crowded and noisy. Honestly, this was something all the hunting grounds I used had in common.

In other words, it was not a very popular hunting ground. Of course, I deliberately chose this kind of hunting ground to hunt more monsters because I was confident.

But I wanted to follow the words, ‘Hide the tree among the forest,’ like they said.

This was a hunting ground where only ice-type wizards were around me. So, I liked it first.

Soon, I forced my way out of the traders and those looking for a hunting party, and moved to the Salamander Habitat.

“Ice Arrow!”

“Water Shot!”

“Ice Spear!”

Unlike other hunting grounds that I used, this place was crowded with those who hunted salamanders from the beginning. In the distance, I saw some people who organized a party, using the AoE skills after occupying a certain area as if they claimed it as their exclusive territory.

“Whew!”

I sighed before I knew it. I expected it to some extent, but there were too many competitors.

But I already decided on this place, so I headed deeper inside.

Then salamanders, Level 400 monsters, showed up one by one.

Obviously I was dissatisfied with the crowded users only a minute ago. But when I saw a monster, however, my dissatisfaction disappeared right away. Instead, I was curious about how my attack would affect this monster at Level 400. Besides, my official level was only 101.

Anyway, the three salamanders quickly charged at me as if they didn’t care about my level.

So I used the skills right away.

“Multiple Ice Arrows. Ice Ball. Ice Bolt.”

Puk! Puk! Puk!

The lizard-shaped salamanders seemed to move fast, but my attacks were faster.

“Kiheck!”

Two of them at the forefront were killed on the spot when hit by Multiple Arrows with the power of seven shots, and Ice Ball repeatedly. And the remaining salamander in the back had its right leg pierced by Ice Bolt, turning into cold, gray ashes. The attack was more effective than I expected.

“Great. That’s why they say to hunt monsters with matching weapons.”

In fact, I’m over Level 400 given my stats, let alone my matching weapons.

Combined with Intellectual Power and other stats, my level is doubled. Besides, I had the Iceman trait too. Anyway I felt good because at Level 101, I could kill Level 400 monsters.

“Ice Ball.”

However, I could not afford to admire my own achievement yet, because I had to kill the remaining salamander by firing Ice Ball. Then I picked up the miscellaneous golden rings.

“Hahaha. Good. Let me hunt here for the time being!”

I liked this place, though there were not enough monsters. So, I went deeper into the habitat in satisfaction to hunt more monsters.

***

“Ice Field!”

The patch of ice was created before my eyes in an instant. Watching it, I used one more skill, namely the Pouring Haitstones that perfectly matched with Ice Field. Like I used to, as always, I used the two skills simultaneously so multiple attacks were made up and down in one space, with tremendous damage caused by the Iceman trait aside from Intellectual Power. I smiled at the fantastic power.

But there was only one thing I didn’t like. Namely, there were only three monsters inside the ice.

“Kiheck.”

“Kuh.”

“Kehek.”

I could not help but feel disappointed because I could kill not only 100 but also as many as 200 monsters with the most recent drive hunt. Besides, it was very ineffective to use AoE skills for only three monsters here, let alone an excessive waste of mana.

But I always had surplus mana when I used Multiple Arrows, Ice Ball, and Ice Bolt. That’s why I also wasted AoE skills because there were no users near the salamanders. Of course, there were not many salamanders there either.

“By the way, I’ve got two more days to go.”

In fact, I decided to hunt here for only one week, and then do whatever I wanted without caring about others. While I spent five days in the Salamander Habitat, I felt like I was too scared.

I had no choice but to feel like that back then because of what I heard from my father.

I could not think of Revival Legend as a simple game anymore. Besides, I was in a situation where I was like a monster serpent with a Cintamani in my mouth. The Cintamani had my three traits and several titles that others coveted so much. What I needed now was to fly into the sky and allow time for growth. So I was more scared.
