1362 Their Spirit Will Live on! The Pillar of the Empire! (1)
Defense Planet No. 29.
After many days of rest and recuperating, many of the heavily injured had recovered and their lives were no longer in danger.
Wang Teng played a huge part in this. His light force rain was amazing, both in quantity and quality. All those who experienced it would give him a thumbs up.
Now, there was a legend about a nanny in the military camp.
Of course, it was all a joke; just a sign that everyone was close to the young hero.
Wang Teng’s face turned black when he heard the rumors. He felt tired; it seemed that his nickname would stay with him for life.
Moira covered her mouth and chuckled. The young hero had taken some time in the few days prior to make the Xuanyang Soul Restoring Pill and saved her. Wang Teng had found her in time, so the devil mind apparition had not sucked too much of her soul. Her injury was lesser than Di Qi’s and she experienced a swift recovery.
“The undefeatable Colonel Wang Teng has the nickname ‘nanny’. What a stark contrast.” Moira laughed.
“Go away!” The young man was angry and frustrated.
“All right, all right, don’t mind it. It’s just a nickname,” Moira consoled him.
“Why don’t I give you one?” Wang Teng stared at Moira’s chest.
“Pfft!” Moira snorted. She couldn’t stand his gaze, so she hurriedly changed the topic. “I came to thank you in person.”
“It’s nothing.” Wang Teng waved a hand in dismissal.
She was stunned by his response, so she snapped back angrily, “My life is nothing? I think you’re humiliating me.”
Wang Teng teased her, “Ah, saving you was a piece of cake.”
Moira: (??????)
“You won’t get a girlfriend,” she said softly.
“Do you want to be my girlfriend?” Wang Teng nudged her.
“Don’t overthink it,” she replied with a calm tone, while combing her long hair.
“That’s good. I’m an outstanding man, and too many ladies love me; I can’t have another.” Wang Teng sighed.
Moira: …
This guy’s heart must be made of trash.
How insensitive!
It took her a few deep breaths to calm down. Then, she handed something to Wang Teng.
“This is my gift to you.”
“What is this? A little branch?” Wang Teng sized up the item with interest. Then, he gasped and added, “There’s a dense amount of light force inside.”
“My friend from the Light Velvet Planet gave this to me. You can look for her if you have any troubles in the future,” Moira said.
Wang Teng raised his eyebrows. “This must be important to you. Are you sure you want to give it to me?”
“I’m leaving.” Moira waved a hand and simply left.
Wang Teng looked on as she was leaving, while shaking his head.
“Slap!”
Someone suddenly slapped his shoulder and teased, “Stop looking; she’s gone already.”
“I knew you were hiding back there.” Wang Teng turned and looked at Di Qi, feeling at a loss.
“You send your spiritual power all over the base.” Di Qi was similarly taken aback.
Wang Teng stored the little branch in a small jade box. “One can’t be too careful.”
Di Qi shrugged and asked, “Anyway, what’s going to happen with my cousin if you start dating Veblen’s disciple?”
“What do you mean? What about your cousin?” Wang Teng’s face turned black. He quickly added, “There’s nothing going on between me and your cousin. Are you trying to take advantage of me?
“Also, there’s nothing between me and Moira. Don’t tarnish her reputation.”
“Tsk, I saw everything.” Di Qi pouted and sniggered.
“What did you see?” A dangerous glow appeared in Wang Teng’s eyes. He stared at the other with a smile.
“Cough, nothing. I saw nothing.” Di Qi quickly changed his tune. This fellow is too powerful. I can’t afford to offend him.
“Look at your timid expression.” Wang Teng rolled his eyes. “Don’t joke about your cousin and me. I’d be put on the spot if your family finds out and later wants me to be their son-in-law.”
Di Qi wanted to give him a thumbs up.
Never had he seen such a thick-skinned person.
Dong…
Just then, the clock in the base chimed.
Wang Teng and Di Qi turned serious.
“Let’s go.” Wang Teng walked out; Di Qi nodded and followed. The pair reached a building at the back of the military base.
The place had a simple build, but it was tall, and it gave off a dignified vibe.
A huge stone tablet was erected in front of said building, with names carved on its surface. There were countless of them.
Wang Teng blinked when he saw this. He started to feel emotional.
Countless martial warriors rushed over from all directions. They walked silently, standing in the plaza facing the building. None of them made a sound.
Upon closer observation, everyone was wearing their military attire. A white cloth tied on their shoulders was extremely conspicuous.
Wang Teng and Di Qi were no exception.
...
More and more people arrived. The plaza was packed.
However, it was strangely quiet.
Silence!
There was only silence and deep sorrow in everyone’s eyes.
Some of the people were still bandaged, as they had yet to recover completely, but they also stood there in silence.
