345 Habituated

Tilla would have loved to say that she didn’t need a leave when both the King and the Queen were thinking of letting her rest because of her recent injuries.

However, when she had tried getting up just moments before, she felt that the pain was even greater than before. She knew that she wouldn’t be able to serve the Queen properly when she wasn’t even able to stand on her feet.

“Thank you very much for your kind consideration, Your Majesties,” Tilla said while bowing her head to both the King and the Queen. Her face, however, darkened when she further apologized, “And please excuse me for the inconvenience from my side.”

Anastasia quickly brushed off Tilla’s discomfort by saying, “You don’t have to apologize, Tilla. It’s not like you knowingly inflicted injuries on yourself.”

After heaving a sigh upon recalling how Tilla almost collapsed down to the floor just now, Anastasia asked Tilla, “Why don’t I ask someone to take you back to your room? And since Martha will wait on me until you recover, I think Holly can help you with your needs.”

Tilla felt embarrassed to let Holly look after her even when her injuries weren’t even that serious. Thus, she politely denied, “I should be able to take care of my needs, Your Majesty. I don’t think it’s necessary to–”

“Just accept it,” Caspian intervened in the middle as he was growing impatient when the conversation between Tilla and his wife kept on going. His departure time was getting nearer and he still had a few things that he wanted to share with his wife. So, he needed the two women to wrap up their conversation for now.

Tilla’s body stiffened when Caspian gave out that order in his stern voice. She awkwardly met his gaze and immediately after, she lowered her head and bowed in obedience.

Caspian took a deep breath to initiate the conversation with his wife, but when Tilla was still sitting on the chair, he remembered that Tilla couldn’t walk properly. Thus, he took it upon himself to go outside and call for some help for Tilla.

.....

Soon after, he came back with a servant who was walking down the corridor and ordered him to carry Tilla to her room.

After the situation was handled, Caspian finally turned to his wife and asked her to sit down on the bed.

Caspian also sat beside her and began, “I have something to tell you.”

“You are going to meet my brother,” Anastasia said while nodding her head.

Caspian also nodded in response. But he also wanted to say something more. “Yesterday night I didn’t find the right time to tell you. So, I am telling you now.”

Anastasia’s gaze fixated on her husband’s blood-red eyes when he suddenly sounded very serious. “What is it?” she asked with a hint of curiosity as well as some nervousness in her voice.

Caspian put one of his feet on the bed so that he could properly face Anastasia. And after sitting comfortably, he explained, “The spies that I had sent to Xanmar presented their findings.” As hard as it was for Caspian to admit it, he did it nonetheless, “And it said that Everard was indeed unaware of the attack on us.”

He also explained how the actual perpetrators had mysteriously died. And he expressed his doubt about how there could be someone behind the curtain who could be pulling all the strings, and also the involvement of the third party who might or might not be on their side.

Anastasia understood the depth of the situation here. She wanted to suggest that they could have another meeting and include Everard in it. That way, they could uncover all the remaining truths and avoid further misunderstandings in the future.

But instead, she bit her tongue as she thought that it would be better if she didn’t bring up Everard’s name in front of her husband.

“I hope that brother and you will decide what’s best for everyone then,” Anastasia said with a soft smile.

Caspian gave a nod and kept on looking at his wife for a while. He could see that she was thinking about something, and could more or less deduce what she wanted to say even though she didn’t say it outright.

But since he also preferred not to bring Everard into their conversation, he didn’t pry.

Instead, he raised his hand and softly caressed Anastasia’s tender cheek. He sighed and asked her, “Since the meeting begins at night, I don’t think I can travel back in time to accompany you tonight. Will you be okay on your own?”

Anastasia suddenly felt a slight sting in her heart when Caspian pointed out that he wouldn’t be able to spend the night together with her. She realized how she had become so habituated to Caspian’s presence in her life that she was feeling disheartened at the thought of not seeing her husband for a single night.

Caspian smiled when he caught that momentary displeasure in Anastasia’s face. He cupped her face using both of his palms and said, “I will return as soon as I can, dear wife. You don’t have to look so sad.”

Anastasia smiled and looked down while blushing when her husband read her like an open book.

But Caspian immediately pinched her chin and made her look at him. Seeing her innocent face, for a split second, he thought of pushing the meeting to the next day so that it fell during his working hours and he could return home by the usual time he got off his work.

However, he quickly pushed that idea out of his head since he also didn’t want to be disrespectful to Alexander by making him waste his time.

“Did you have something more to say?” Anastasia asked with that same innocent look on her face when Caspian kept on gazing at her.

Caspian shook his head and chuckled. He had never imagined that this innocent demeanor of his wife could affect him so much. He had never imagined how staying apart from Anastasia for just one night would seem so impossible.

He then gently rubbed his thumb against her chin and said with a rugged breath, “I can’t believe I was just thinking about postponing the meeting because I didn’t want to leave you alone.” Then he narrowed his eyes and teasingly asked her, “What kind of magic spell did you cast on me? I wasn’t like this before.”

Anastasia smiled, flattered. However, she didn’t wish to distract her husband from his important tasks. So, she held Caspian’s wrist and softly said, “It’s just one night. I will be fine.”

Caspian deeply inhaled from his mouth and swiftly bent forward to plant a quick kiss on Anastasia’s lips.

Anastasia gladly wrapped her arms around Caspian’s shoulder and kissed him back.

The casual pecks soon turned into a heated kiss. Caspian couldn’t seem to restrain himself from gently pushing her lips apart and sliding his tongue inside her mouth.

Soon, their tongues inevitably got entangled with each other as they kept on kissing each other fervently. Their hot and cold breath intermingled as their breathing got heavier as well as faster. Both of them were letting out soft and pleased moans as their hands began sliding down against each other’s bodies.

It didn’t take much time for Caspian to place his cold palm under Anastasia’s breast and gently lift it up while also kneading it.

“Mmph…” Anastasia moaned a bit louder than before when she felt a tingling sense of pleasure spreading across her chest.

When he heard that provocative moan, Caspian’s fire of desire instantly flared up.

At first, he was just thinking of giving a quick goodbye kiss to Anastasia and then heading out. But his heart and his body didn’t allow him to do so.

When he couldn’t control his desire anymore, he quickly pulled his head away from the kiss and announced, “I don’t think I can control myself after all.”
