Chapter 661: 212. Neat and tidy

The person with the highest strength in the entire manor had spoken, leaving those present with no choice but to obey her command.

Selena was not only a Nine Circles Deep Sea Wizard, but also the Deputy Dean of the Deep-sea Branch.

Being a Deputy Dean meant that she could summon help from the Deep-sea Branch with just one command.

Under the watchful gaze of the guests and amidst the trembling excitement of Lord Dickler Fagen, Selena contacted the Deep Sea Branch through magical messaging and summoned a group of Deep Sea wizards ranging from Three to Five Circles.

They used Lord Fagen’s garden to temporarily construct a Magic Octagon Cage for the Extraordinary duel in front of the grand manor mansion.

The visitors were in for a treat. Just by visiting, they would not only enjoy the drama but also witness a life-and-death duel, making their trip worthwhile.

The Magic Octagon Cage was quickly set up.

The Deep-sea wizards maintained order, while Selena took her place on a balcony of the second floor as the host. The crowd of onlookers filled the lawn surrounding the Magic Octagon Cage.

After a brief and intense period of distraction, Lord Fagen returned to the manor mansion, where he whispered to his housekeeper.

As the hosts, they still held some clout.

Selena granted them ten minutes of preparation time.

Once the time was up, Housekeeper Helamat had to either personally enter the battle or appoint a combat wizard to fight on his behalf.

As Noland Lee had expected, after discussing with Fagen, Helamat sent a Four-ring Demon Spirit Wizard to fight.

Seeing this, Noland smiled inwardly. He bowed politely to Selena on the second-floor balcony and said,

“Miss Selena, I would like to raise the stakes of this duel. If I win, I hope Fagen can transfer the contract right of this Demon Spirit Wizard to me.”

From another balcony a few meters away, Fagen angrily slapped the stone railing, shouting,

“And if you lose, you despicable First Rank wizard! If you lose, you’ll become my servant! I’ll not only take your life, but also enslave your soul for fifty years – no, a hundred years!”

“Deal, Fagen.” Noland gazed at him with a faint smile.

His calm demeanor only served to anger Fagen more. The young master cursed Noland, clearly shattered.

Selena placed her hands gently on her lower abdomen, her blue liquid dress flowing slowly.

Glancing at Noland and Helamat outside the Magic Octagon Cage, she said,

“I accept the stake of this life-and-death duel. I and all the guests present will bear witness. Open the Magic Octagon Cage, activate the protective array, conduct a pre-battle check, and prepare for the life-and-death duel.”

The Deep-sea wizards pulled open the two gates of the Magic Octagon Cage.

Noland and the Demon Spirit Wizard were examined by the Deep-sea wizards, re-confirming that both sides met all the requirements for the life-and-death duel.

The specific examination method involved using a detection spell on the duelists.

A key detection spell was the Wizard Level Detection Technique, which would cause a magical glow on the target’s body. The glow’s color determined the target’s wizard rank.

As a First Level wizard, Noland’s magical glow was gray.

The Demon Spirit Wizard fighting on behalf of the imposter butler had a green glow, indicating a Four-ring Wizard.

After confirming that both participants met all duel requirements, Noland and his opponent stepped onto the dueling platform from opposite gates of the Octagon Cage.

The imposter butler stood outside the Magic Octagon Cage, facing Noland.

His face was filled with resentment, as Noland had clearly disrupted his plans.

However, he didn’t seem to show any fear.

When inviting Noland to the manor, he had learned about Noland’s background and strength.

He knew that Noland was backed by the Silent Maiden.

Putting aside why a male wizard like Noland would join an all-female wizard force, the imposter butler believed that Noland’s efficient completion of bounty tasks and arrest warrants were due to magical items given by Professor Erica.

To the imposter butler, it was obvious that Noland’s recognition of the abnormal Contract box and identification of his spy status were all due to Professor Erica’s mystical items.

He deduced that Noland’s mysterious equipment was probably a barely detectable detection-type magical item.

Regarding Noland’s method for defeating wanted criminals, the imposter butler attributed it to the breaking law effects of his silent power.

As the only male wizard in the Silent Maiden, Noland must possess special abilities in using silent magic, which would explain why he was recruited by Professor Erica.

That was the imposter butler’s reasoning.

To him, without the secret help of Professor Erica, Noland would only be an ordinary First Rank Combat Wizard.

Sending their own Four-ring Demon Spirit Wizard to fight should be enough to defeat Noland.

The problem was: why did Noland seem so confident, even going so far as to propose raising the stakes…?

At this point, the imposter butler felt something strange about the situation and couldn’t figure out where Noland’s confidence in facing the Four-ring Demon Spirit Wizard came from.
