Chapter 138 - Mosquito Bite

And just as promised, Xiu Mei waited for Lu Chen so they could go home together.

"Then I’ll go first." Her assistant said while grinning. Even without opening her mouth, her facial expression screams ’I won’t be bothering your couple time anymore.’

She even threw her a knowing look multiple times before that that baffled her. Thinking that it must just be that she was making fun of her, she shrugged off that though.

Xiu Mei couldn’t help but laugh even though she was being teased. Unfortunately, she was unaware of the real reason why her assistant was giving her that weird look.

She shook her head, helpless. Just let her be. She did advise her pretty well a while ago and talking with Lu Chen greatly improved both their relationship and mood for today.

After fixing all her stuff, she stood up to knock on the President’s door to inform him that the two of them should be going home right now.

But before her knuckles could hit the door, it was suddenly pulled open on the other side startling her. As soon as their eyes met, they were momentarily stunned because of each other. And then, the two of them let out a laugh. This wasn’t the first time that they’re going home together, but seeing that the two of them waiting for each other like this today, somehow, it felt so different from the other times before.

"Let’s go home, my wife." Lu Chen said, offering his hand to hers. Xiu Mei, with a twinkle in her eyes, looked at his offered hand and smiled. She smiled from ear to ear and willingly placed her hand over his.

So with their fingers interlaced with each other, they went home. She didn’t even notice the numerous sighs of relief and the snickers of the employees who saw them together. Right now, weirdly enough, she felt so lighthearted and preoccupied with her husband.

"What’s with all these?" Xiu Mei asked seeing the scattered boxes of pastries at the back of the car. She even saw some familiar names from the dessert shops she usually goes to.

"Hmm... a bribe?"

"For me?"

She casually reached out and grab a nearby box. She opened it and took out a piece of the caramel cream puffs inside.

"Uhuh, just in case you won’t listen to me at all. I was planning on leaving a couple of boxes on your table so I went to get it from the car--Ah!"

"?"

"..."

"...what?"

Xiu Mei raised her head curiously for his weird reaction but what she just saw was Lu Chen... looking a little bit funny.

He kept glancing at her side while keeping his eyes on the road as he drove. His expression right now... it was clearly someone who wanted to say something to her. But there was a trace of anxiousness and worry on his eyes at the same time as if he was hesitating whether to ask her about it or not.

She wasn’t used to Lu Chen hesitating but seeing that he was holding himself back, it was kind of weird and funny at the same time.

For a person who loves being straightforward and direct especially when teasing her, he sure is doing well, albeit awkwardly, holding himself back.

"What is it?" Then she looked at the box she was holding. "Oh, did you want one?"

Wiping off the cream filling on her lips, she picked up one cream puff and held it in front of Lu Chen’s mouth.

"Uh, no. Not that." But he didn’t avoid her hand and slightly leaned over to bite on the dessert.

Being handfed by the wife, how can he decline it?

"Then what is it?"

Then she pulled back her hand, and unconsciously took a bite of the bitten part of the cream puff. Realizing her actions, she paused and glanced at the pastry then to Lu Chen who was still focusing on the road.

...he shouldn’t have seen that right?

Xiu Mei was fl.u.s.tered realizing that she indirectly kissed Lu Chen by biting on that same part he bit on. But then she continued following that train of thought.

Though indirectly kissing is not that serious though? I mean they’ve even gone past the phase of french kissing...

Xiu Mei pinched her thigh immediately. Gawd, stop! She should cut that train of thought else she embarrasses herself in front of Lu Chen again.

She covered her face with her hand still remembering what they did back in her husband’s office. Goddamnit, has she really gone corrupt? She didn’t even expect that she’ll easily fall prey to her husband’s honey trap! My goodness, when did she become this fragile?

"Uhm," Lu Chen’s voice pulled her back to reality.

As soon as the light turned red, he glanced at her again but this time, his gaze lingered for a little longer than before.

"What?"

"...Nothing." Staring at her neck, Lu Chen shook his head and smiled as if shrugging off his previous thoughts.

"?"

’Why is he being weird?’ Is what she thought.

She didn’t even notice the smirk that made its way on Lu Chen’s face at all.

As for Lu Chen whose mood turned for the better, he threw the memory of the man getting chummy with his wife back in the elevator at the back of his mind. He’ll let this slide for now.

He and Xiu Mei just fixed their relationship back together again after that serious fight. He’ll hold back for now and worry about the guy next time.

He glanced at her again, staring at her neck for a second before turning back to focus on the road.

He smirked. Well, after today, then maybe that guy will wake up and should know his place right?

As soon as they got home before she could even change, Lu Qiang grabbed her arm and dragged her back to his room. She didn’t know why he was dragging her but she still followed the little kid back to his room.

"Mom, here." As soon as the little guy locked the room of his door, he pulled out a little box from his pocket and gave it to her.

She suddenly wondered. Why was he giving her a present? It isn’t even her birthday yet.

"What’s this?"

"Open it first." The little kid watched her with expectant eyes so she couldn’t refuse and opened the box in front of him.

Pulling the ribbon loose, she lifted the cover and saw a Philippe Patek watch laying inside. Her forehead creased in confusion when she looked at Lu Qiang.

Why is he suddenly giving her a luxury watch? She looked closely at the watch. It wasn’t even a women’s watch too. Wait, that’s not even it. How did Lu Qiang even buy this thing? Where did he even get this?

"Mom, you should give that to that."

"Ah?"

If it’s for Lu Chen, then why was he giving it to her? Is he feeling shy to give it personally to his own father?

"Aren’t you in a fight with Dad, Mom?"

Her eyebrows jumped. She felt a bit embarrassed after realizing that the kid was even aware that she and Lu Chen were fighting. Were they that obvious?

She knelt to be on the same height level as him and asked.

"Your Dad and I are good now. I’m sorry, we made you worry isn’t it?" She patted his head and pulled her close to him.

To even make a kid worry, it seems like they were a pair of terrible parents ah.

"But Mom, you should still give that to Dad." The little kid pressed. Her curiosity over the watch increased.

"But Dad would be happier if you personally give this to him, don’t you think?"

"But I don’t want that."

"Why?"

So is he really shy?

Lu Qiang scratched his cheeks. After thinking for a second, he finally spilled the secret behind the gift.

"It’s because it’s a special watch, Mom."

Hmm? She picked up the watch and turned it multiples times to scrutinize it.

...But she doesn’t see any difference though?

Lu Qiang didn’t explain any further and grabbed his tablet. He pressed on the screen for a little while then he flipped it showing her the screen.

She looked at it and realized it was a map. She could see a small green circle blinking inside some blue box.

"What is this?" She pointed at the blinking circle.

"That’s the watch."

Xiu Mei blinked. It took a few more seconds for her to realize what he meant when he said it’s the watch. Then she looked at the watch in her hands again before giving a look of realization and surprise at Lu Qiang.

Is he thinking what she’s thinking?

Understanding the look that his mother was giving him, Lu Qiang nodded.

He pointed at the watch again and this time, affirming her suspicions with words.

"I planted some tracking device that I created on the watch so the next time that Dad goes missing, Mom won’t have to worry anymore and you can track Dad’s whereabouts if he wears this watch."

Xiu Mei gasped. Her eyes shifted in between the tablet screen and Lu Qiang’s face.

"..."

She totally forgot that her son is a tech genius ah.

"But Mom, did you go somewhere other than work? Looks like you got bitten by the mosquito." Lu Qiang suddenly asked. She returned to her senses when she heard him ask her again.

"Where did you even go, Mom? Look, it’s so big and red."

Xiu Mei blinked in confusion. What? Did she really get a mosquito bite? But a mosquito bite shouldn’t be that big though?

Lu Qiang opened the camera function of his tablet and changed it into a front camera. She looked at it and saw her reflection on the screen. She stretched her neck to see what Lu Qiang was talking about.

"...!!!!"

She finally realized what the little kid was saying. Seeing it, she almost felt like crying and burying herself under the ground from embarrassment.

Son, that is not a mosquito bite ah!!!!
