Chapter 147 - Insider

Since they didn’t bring anything with them at all aside from their extra clothes, they quickly checked out of the hotel. While Lu Chen busily processed their check out, Xiu Mei was connected on a voice call with the PR team and Legal team.

"Then send me the draft statement on my inbox and I’ll go over it quickly. For the other specifics, how long do we need before we can get that?"

"Then let’s go with that. I’ll be on standby if something arises so tell me if something happens."

"No, that is too risky. We’ll release it once we’ve got a rough idea of the gravity of this whole mess."

"Yeah, I’ll keep in touch."

After dropping the call, Xiu Mei skimmed through her emails and read each report she received from the other department related to the data breach news.

On the other hand, Lu Chen kept his attention on quickly driving back home. He needed to get back quickly to also receive the reports from his men whether this leak is related to that person.

Within 3 hours, they were back home. Lu Qiang would have to extend his stay at her parents’ mansion for now because of this emergency. They didn’t have enough time to drop by their place to pick him up.

An official statement has been released to ease the public tension. The statement was based on the results of their investigation back then, and the Lu Corporation is now targeting to release another statement later in the day for further discussion.

Thankfully though, the backlash wasn’t as heavy as they thought it would be. The plan of refunding the customers back then worked and somehow eased the tension between the company and the customers.

Xiu Mei was still reading a couple of articles on her laptop when she heard a knock. She and Lu Chen are currently staying in the study room while working on resolving this issue.

"Come in." She said.

The door opened and revealed unfamiliar figures. Two people entered the room and slightly bowed down their heads towards Lu Chen’s direction and sensing her presence as well, they bowed to her as well.

Xiu Mei blinked in confusion as she examined the two strangers in front of her. Who are they?

As if he read what’s on her mind, Lu Chen introduced his two subordinates.

"This is Ming Xuan, the third-ranking...keeper of the organization and Lee In, the seventh keeper." Lu Chen did a short pause when he introduced Ming Xuan. He hesitated for a second when the word that almost came out of his mouth was ’assassin’, but then he quickly changed it to ’keeper’.

Even though Xiu Mei is already aware of their assassin organization, introducing her to the top three and top seventh killers would surely be overwhelming for her.

"It is an honor to meet you, Young Madam." The two subordinates lowered their heads to her direction once more.

"...Thanks, and there’s definitely no need to call me Young Madam. Just Xiu Mei would be fine, I think." She replied. Hearing them call her Young Madam was very awkward for her. It’s not like they’re even working under her.

Besides, when Lu Chen introduced them to her and even though he tried to make it sound nicer for her, she already got the gist of what these two people do in the organization. The third and seventh keeper... meaning the both of them have high positions in Lu Chen’s organization. Meaning, they’re one of the top assassins.

Yep, it’s better to stick with the ’keeper’ term then. She couldn’t deny that sounded way better than being called an assassin. Though that’s not really that degrading even.

After that short introduction, the two of them went and discussed the results of their investigation to Lu Chen.

"The people we planted at the person’s side tried snooping in if they were the ones who leaked it to the press but it seems like this time, it wasn’t their work." Ming Xuan explained.

"We’ve also done our own investigation within the Lu Corporation regarding the data leak. The trace reverts back to one of the Lu Corporation’s computers in City B."

Xiu Mei who was also listening in on their report was startled.

It was completely different from the report she received from the IT team. The investigation report showed that the virus was planted thru their website when someone registered their account. And so they tightened their security and improved their captcha setups for the registrations. The overall conclusion was it was done by an outsider.

This was also the rough idea of the official announcement the company will be releasing later tonight. And now she’s hearing that the investigation report done was not even right?!

"Is that true?" She couldn’t help but interject in their conversation. She stood up from her seat and stood beside Lu Chen.

"Was it really planted by one of our staffs?" She pressed.

The two people nodded.

Xiu Mei heaved in shock and disappointment. She felt her head ache and so cradled her forehead and massaged her temples.

My god. If this is the truth then she should really do a double take on the official statement release later tonight. She can’t just go and announce to the public that it was done by a Lu Corporation employee else they would receive a terrible backlash from the general public and they might even be called on to the court because this is an information sensitive case.

Damn it, why did it even get more complicated? They even haven’t found out who leaked this to the press.

Lu Chen observed Xiu Mei’s expression change. This truth definitely caused her some stress and shock but for Lu Chen, he wasn’t surprised at all.

He was already quite sure that some Lu Corporation employees are spies planted either by their competitors or Lu Chen’s enemies. Hence, the possibility of this being an inside job was on the top of his list.

"Then who did this? Who was responsible for planting this virus?" Xiu Mei asked. This time, her gaze turned towards him as if she already knew that he knows who was behind the attack.

Lu Chen didn’t keep the truth from her.

"It was done by the current Prime Minister’s younger brother, Yu Ming Xi."

And if that fact wasn’t enough to shock Xiu Mei, Lu Chen dropped another bomb.

"And that same person was also the one responsible for the death of Lu Qiang’s parents."

Meanwhile, in some mansion somewhere.

Ying Wan Wan lazily sat on the couch in her room. The room was filled with the scent of cigarette and alcohol. The television was turned on, flashing the news from this morning in repeat. She let out a half-hearted laugh everytime she sees the Lu Corporation’s logo and carefully swirled the wine glass on her hand.

"I wonder if I should have sent a note that this was the third gift." She muttered under her breath. She switched open her phones and read the articles related to the Lu Corporation and let out a mocking laugh while enjoying reading the comments section.

Though she wasn’t the person behind the data breach, it was still a useful piece that she can use against Xiu Mei. Though it would just put a slight dent on the company, it would be enough to shake them all up for now. After all, she still has majestic plans for that bitch.

The door of her room opened, revealing Albert Chen’s figure.

"Miss," He respectfully greeted her. Ying Wan Wan stared at his figure for a few seconds before placing down the wine glass and phone on her hands. Her spaghetti strap nightdress slipped off slightly on her shoulders giving Albert a slight peek on the attractive view underneath it.

"Come here."

Albert quickly complied and stopped before Wan Wan. She didn’t hesitate and tugged on his shirt pulling him down with her on the couch. She hovered above him and licked her lips.

"Good work. Do you want your prize?" She dipped her head and whispered in his ears.

She didn’t even wait for his answer when she started unbuckling his pants. Touching that bulging area, she slipped her hand inside while her other hand was bitten onto his mouth.

"Seems like it was all worth it getting close to the Prime Minister’s daughter." Wan Wan uttered as her hand made wonders on little Albert’s.

Underneath her, Albert Chen succ.u.mbed to her charm like a drunk man enticed by the beauty.

"It was successful because who knew the Prime Minister’s daughter was so easy to seduce. One dinner was all it took for her to completely surrender in our hands." Albert replied as he groaned. He wasn’t even one least bit guilty when he honestly said that he seduced Yu Zhen Zhen and cheated with her.

After that, Albert Chen was thrilled to receive the prize of his efforts under his Miss.
