Chapter 253 - In the Harbor
The sound of the sea waves hitting the shores has always been very ther.a.p.eutic. The sound of crying seagulls echoing everywhere, the flap of the bird’s wings, the sound of the sh.i.p.s honking from the distance signaling their arrival, and those who are also preparing to depart ashore.
Small chats could be heard from the workers alighting the sh.i.p.s with boxes in tow. One could even smell the saltiness from the sea if it weren’t for the other stuff hidden behind those boxes.
Everything here looked like any normal harbor, but Lee In knew better. She mixed among the crowd through disguise, acting as one of the workers. Nothing escaped from her sharp eyes as she subtly roamed her sight around the surroundings.
Metal Containers and metal crates with unknown packages inside covered half of the entire harbor as they wait to be processed and be transferred to a hidden location.
Lee In carried another box, closely inspected while alighting it from the ship, and remembered the type of lock and numbers used for the crates. She didn’t need to open it to know what’s inside. The metal container wasn’t enough to suppress the smell oozing out from the inside.
The box she was carrying most probably contains some rotten meat. On the other tightly locked metal boxes locked with tight pressure, she was guessing that it also contains some kind of organ, maybe human. Or maybe not.
She silently surveyed the surroundings. Probing what’s inside of all the containers here wasn’t her job. What she was waiting for is if that person they’re currently after will appear here just like the intelligence she received from someone.
And it seems like the source was right.
Yu Ming Xi appeared like a king in a procession in the harbor. In tow behind him were his men, whom she already investigated as well. He entered another ship with urgency so Lee In quickened her steps and tossed the box she was holding somewhere, disappeared among the crowd going to the direction of the ship he boarded. In one pull, her entire appearance changed as she followed behind them in the shadows.
With one hand in her back, she pressed the keys with expertise swiftly sending a message to Ming Xuan.
"....That wasn’t our deal!" That was Yu Ming Xi’s voice.
"You ordered me to help her out and now that she’s useless you’re going to make me take the fall?!"
A muffled unfamiliar voice responded, "Mr. Yu, it seems like you need to refresh your mind. It was you who owes debts and we’re just simply making you pay us in a different way."
Then what she heard next was the familiar sounds of racking the slide of the gun. She was on high alert in case sudden gunfire ensued.
"I think you keep forgetting that I’m the prime minister’s brother."
"I don’t think you’ll owe us a debt if he was already aware of everything you’re doing."
"..."
"And it’s Mr.Yu who should be careful. The head despises people who disobey orders the most."
"But you didn’t tell me that it would be so difficult to kill that woman!"
"Did we have to brief you for that job? You’re already aware of how scary that organization is and you expect an amateur to waltz in that easily inside and get out as if it was just a walk in the park?"
"You’re trying to have me killed!"
"Oh, I assure you Mr.Yu, I’m already giving you a choice in which hands to die. In the Legion’s hands, or in our hands? Which would you prefer?"
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Get the job finished. Or else it would your head rolling in the middle of the city that would be on the headlines tomorrow."
Lee In didn’t move an inch from her spot especially when she heard the door opened.
"A rat."
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
At the same time the person’s voice stated that sentence, Lee In heard the sound of the gun slide being racked. Her intuition was sharp enough to realize that they noticed her presence so in a split second, she dropped on her knees while her hand pulled the trigger of the gun pointing it to the direction behind her.
Multiple sounds of a gunshot echoed within the ship. Lee In easily took down a couple of men shooting at her. A man in a mask stood in the center without budging. He wasn’t the least bit afraid to be hit by the bullet even when he turned around and walked away leisurely as if there was no gunfight happening.
Lee In’s mind was working fast.
Her mission was to take in Yu Ming Xi, but it seems like the best person to take in was that man in a mask just now. She immediately weighed her options and instantly decided to shift her target from Yu Ming Xi into that man.
Seeing the target walk away, she speeded up her movements.
Three men dead. She unloaded and loaded her gun at an incredible speed and continued killing the men blocking her way. She shot and squeezed past them until she could see the back of the person with a mask. The two men with him immediately noticed her presence and shot her.
Lee In quickly evaded and using her reflexes, she dodged steadily as she watched that man climb inside the car along with the two men shooting at her.
Lee In grabbed the other gun at her hip that she often used for long-range and moving objects shots. However, instead of a bullet, she loaded a small tech disguised as a bullet. With her two hands holding two different guns, she fired both of them at the same time. The normal bullet went through the tire of the car, and the customized bullet dented the bullet-proof glass. The car sped away fast.
She chased after them and jumped onto the motorcycle she hid in the harbor. With one of the tires punctured by her, surely they wouldn’t be able to get away that far.
And just as she expected, she found the abandoned vehicle in less than a minute. She followed the trace of the disturbed grass, a sign that some people just recently stepped on it. Next to the harbor is a forest, so she was confident that these were made by that masked man and the other people in that car.
With her alertness on high, she immediately sensed and heard the sound of gunshot not far from her side. The bullet only caught her hair as she cleanly shot the two men who stood far from her left and right in their c.h.e.s.t and head without bothering to look at them. She dove deep into the forest, but in the short time she exchanged gunfire with the two men, it seems like the man with the mask vanished like a ghost.
Lee In gave up chasing after that man and returned to the abandoned vehicle. After sending a short message to Ming Xuan about her current location, she started rummaging around the car. Five minutes in, she sensed something weird.
There was a faint sound coming from somewhere in the vehicle. Her movements paused as she listened to the sound closely, realizing that the sound was getting faster the more she listened to it. Lee In was quick to recognize that sound, so she jumped out of the vehicle, dug out the custom bullet that dented the glass at the back of the car. She didn’t think twice and as soon as she jumped a few inches away from the car, the sound stopped and the entire vehicle exploded in an instant.
Lee In was caught in the impact as her entire body was thrown back to the air until she hit the trunk of a tree.
"Shit..." Lee In g.r.o.a.n.e.d in pain as she shifted her body slightly. Her whole body ached from the impact, and several wounds appeared on her body.
She felt pain, but this level of pain wasn’t that painful enough at all in her own standard. She managed to stand up with slight difficulty, as she walked back to where she left her motorcycle. Ignoring the physical pain, she drove back to the harbor, and there she saw a couple of her colleagues hoisting out Yu Ming Xi and his men out of the ship.
Ming Xuan immediately noticed her and walked over to her.
"Had fun?" That was what he said despite seeing her current appearance. Lee In was quite used to his antics as she passed the squashed customized bullet to him.
"Barely. I can’t stand the smell here anymore. Anyways, here’s a surprise present I guess."
After passing that, she walked past him leaving the rest to his hands. Ming Xuan didn’t delay anymore and went back to the headquarters and started analyzing what was recorded in the customised recorder bullet that Lee In gave to him.
