Chapter 277 - Lu Chen - Becoming The City Leader(4)

From then on, Lu Chen’s life was completely thrown into chaos. His horizons widened signficantly. No, ’significantly’ is cutting it too short. Maybe he should say that his perception to the reality of this world were distorted before under the safe net of the law but now everything was completely unveiled before his eyes b.a.r.e n.a.k.e.d.

The dark and horrible truth hidden in the midst of this civilization. How much dirt a person hides from everyone and how heartless and ruthless a human can be.

How the law isn’t enough to suppress a person’s evil impulses. The bloods spilt by other people due to greed.

Lu Chen was disheartened and almost lost hope to all humanity after seeing all those dirt with his own eyes. He couldn’t believe it. No, he refused to believe it. To think he was living so blindly all along, and how he wished to return to the days when he didn’t know about it at all.

Old Yang completely made him open his eyes to this horrible reality. He was shaken, and he subconsciously wanted to run away after knowing all these things, but he realized it was already too late.

Everything he’d seen was already engraved in his mind, so running away would only become useless since he forever be haunted by the bloody truth.

In simpler terms, he could never return to the past and Lu Chen’s only choice is to take a step forward.

Old Yang put Lu Chen under a harsh training. He was training him to be his apprentice and heir in a short period of time. Aside from his studies, he had to learn how to defend and protect himself. Most especially, he had to learn how to kill a person as an assassin.

Of course how could he not learn it when he’s going to be the main head of an assassin organization?

Lu Chen’s clean and rough hands from his previous part-time jobs became rougher and stained with blood in his journey.

With the guidance of Old Yang’s subordinates and his swift ability to pick-up things, Lu Chen’s skills developed like a speed of light. Under the immense training to build his physical stamina and flexibility, his body slowly built muscles until it became perfectly fit to endure hours of physical training.

His reflexes improved by leaps and bounds as well. He learned how to assemble different gun types in a short amount of time, shoot with great accuracy may it be moving or still, and disassemble it in an instant. Aside from fighting barehanded and using a gun, he was also taught to use different weapons such as swords, long sticks and arrows just in case the situation calls for it.

Old Yang personally taught him how to strategize and fight wars like a general. The Art of War wasn’t simply enough to be studied, he needed to understand how ti works in different situations and put it into actions effecticely. Even the combat strategies of an assassin was taught closely by him.

In summary, Lu Chen be became almost invincible before he graduated in the university. A genius who grew into a monster was now ready to be introduced as the heir of the Underground City.

He had been through so much and he couldn’t even remember how many people died from his hands after they were sent to him to kill him under the orders of their enemies.

From being unable to stomach any food after seeing blood and killing a person for the first time, now he can even twist a person’s neck without blinking and staying unbothered. It was truly a big jump from his lousy and weak self.

He had grown to a point that Old Yang was already passing his other responsibilities to him, including the training of the new recruits. After getting the approval(albeit by force) of the other major organizations in the underworld, Lu Chen did his best to balance his work as an heir and as the president of his newly started company. He truly became a person to be admired after reaching the pinnacle of both sides as the heir and a company president.

Slowly, Old Yang withdrew from the scenes leaving Lu Chen alone to handle all his responsibilities. Years ago, he chose a new recruit as per Old Yang’s orders. That person would become his right hand person, and it was up to him whether he chooses a strong person he can rely on or a person he couls grow with along the way.

And that’s how Lu Shao came to be as his assistant. The two grew and trained together building their trust along the way. So now that Old Yang already stepped down from his responsibilites, Lu Chen, with the help of Lu Shao, was able to quickly integrate in his two different positions.

One day, Old Yang suddenly brought him to an isolated place. It was an area surrounded by tall walls and behind it was a big empty space filled with grass. If it weren’t for the small villa that he could faintly see from where he was standing, he would have thought that the old man was bringing him somewhere to play and torture again.

There, Old Yang declared that he would retire in this place. Isolated from the world and hidden behind the forest. It was very in line with his personality.

Lu Chen was very supportive of his decision and even lent a hand in expanding the villa. Then the Old Yang thought that it was a waste not to use the other empty lots so he dragged some of his close subordinates and friends to live with him in this place, including that man who he chatted with in the roof back then.

But the people were still bored. So chose new recruits were brought there for training and that’s how this place became filled with noise and shouta of men in training daily. The walls were imroved and high-tec gates imbued with AI were installed for safety considering the identities of the people living within the walls.

Old Yang who passed away from his long-term illness left silently under the eyes of his most trusted subordinates. And even them passed away one by one shortly after that as if they were loyally following behind Old Yang. It was very strange to see them all suddenly succ.u.mb to an illness but what could Lu Chen do? They are assassins whose loyalty seeped through their bones and now that their original master is gone, maybe they chose to perish and follow him inti his next life.

It may sound ridiculous but Lu Chen witnessed how close and how sturdy their rapport was.

And so, this place eventually became a place where Lu Chen and his most trusted and best assassins stayed together. The new recruits are not allowed inside anymore, but even if majority of the houses here were empty, everything was well taken care of by the caretaker.

That’s why when Lu Chen decided to move, he didn’t look at his other properties but directly chose to stay in this place. It may be a bit far from their previous house but it was the only place that he could be assured of his family’s safety considering that Albert and his other enemies are looking at them so closely, finding opportunities to take a bite out of them.

Xiu Mei carefully listened to her husband’s story all throughout. She was surprised to learn about his story, most especially the fact that he was only a teenager when he started to train to becoming the leader of the most violent place on earth.

"So we’ll be living here from now on?" Xiu Mei raised her eyes and roamed the place with her gaze. The garden was very exquisite and on par with the ones in her maternal home. Even the big mansion were bigger and wider than the ones they used to live in.

Lu Chen held her hand, "Only temporarily. At least until I already have a grasp of what Albert intends to do. Right now, his reach is beyond from what we expected and you and Lu Qiang’s safety is my priority."

God knows how nervous he was when Lu Chen heard that Xiu Min was ambushed in America. He already had suspicions that the five images that Albert gave to Xiu Mei was like a warning, that he will do something to the people in these photos.

And the ambush to Xiu Min’s party basically confirmed it all. Then last night, even his son who doesn’t usually chat with him dropped by his office and reported about the people who were following after him. Of course, he had not told Xiu Mei about this yet.

Without delaying for another second, he decided to bring his family out and move to this place for protection.

Lu Chen tightened his hold on his wife’s hand and started reporting everything he knew as promised, "About the images that you received...."
