She pointed to each stone as she explained. "The central piece is an impure cut of topaz. The outer stones come in various cuts and are a mixture of Jeremejevite and Aquamarine."
Mo Qingchen traced the stones on her ring before doing the same on the one on his finger. It did match. He stared wide-eyed. "It looks so mystical," he told her with awe. "These rings look like they come out from a gothic or witch-like universe."
She nodded. "I like that. The materials I used are not that common for wedding rings. They are underrated but magical. They fit our story. Precious things that other people don't appreciate. So, we do it in their stead."
He didn't know what to say. "When did you make this?" he asked. "This isn't like the design you had shown me before," he said, remembering her drunkenly showing her the tablet she had drawn in.
She nodded. "That was the first draft. I ended up changing it when we came back from Hong Kong. I have been spending time in the design lab and making this personally during my lunch break." She looked down, suddenly feeling shy.
"You made this all from scratch?" he asked, his voice small. He sounded like he was touched.
She pouted as she nodded. Now, looking like a spoiled wife looking for her husband's praise. "I used all the elements to bring together this piece for you. I worked really hard." She stopped. "Do you like it?"
It was time for the final statement.
He gulped as he stared.
He pulled her by the wrist and kept their hands side by side. He twined their fingers so that their rings were on full display beside each other. With his free hand, he pulled out his cellphone and started clicking pictures.
Qian Meng was confused. "What are you…"
"I really do like to show off, Qian Meng. As much as I want to keep this all to myself, I need to show this to everyone on the planet." He gulped as he let her hand go.
Qian Meng's phone rang and she looked at it. It was a message from Mo Qingchen. She let him do as he wished.
She looked at the photo and almost laughed. He had been so excited that the picture was a little blurry. The actual design didn't show as well, but Qian Meng kept the pictures nonetheless.
"Are you sending it to someone?" she asked.
He hummed. "I am sending it to my siblings and mom. Mom was asking if we got our ring yet or not. So, it's the best thing to show her."
He bit his lip as he typed out the message.
[Qian Meng made our ring.] he sent it out and then sighed.
"You do realize that none of them can actually see it, right?" she asked.
He shrugged. "If they really want to see it, they can see it when they meet me." He paused. "You can post it on your social media too if you want," he said belatedly. "I know you are worried about plagiarism, but the pictures are blurry."
She grinned. "It's not like they can copy this anyways. They won't even know why the rings are made this way. And this is not a design that most people would like," she admitted.
She could see that he wanted the world to see his ring. Now, he had physical evidence that he could subtly take around to show people that he was a taken man.
So, she obliged.
She pulled out her social media and chose one of the shaky pictures. Anyone who saw would make our that their fingers were twined and that there were rings on their fingers. That was all she needed people to know.
The real look. They could get it when she decided to post exclusively about it.
[Birthday boy clicked the picture of our wedding rings. Happy birthday, my scoundrel.]
She grinned as she pressed post and then tossed her phone aside.
"Well. What do you think, Mr. Mo? Shall we get to the main highlight of the night?" she asked.
He raised his brow.
"You messed up the queue, but I am a stickler for rules. In this order, you are supposed to be overwhelmed and pounce me. What do you think? Can you act the part?"
She giggled and stepped back.
He stalked forward, a predatorial gleam in his eyes. Like a little rabbit being hunted, she jumped around the room, letting him take his time.
He knew very well, he could catch her in a fraction of a second, but she allowed him her teasing and fun.
The weight of the ring pressed against his chest. He felt like he could breathe. It seared into his skin and he knew what it meant. This woman had officially marked him. This ring would never come off his finger.
Lord knew what he would do if someone tried to pry it off him. He would rip them to shreds. Even he, himself, wasn't allowed to do it.
As for anyone else who could touch it? Only Qian Meng. She would be the one to take care of it. He doubted it was an easy process to clean something as intricate as this, but he trusted her to give him back this token.
"Baby, enough playing around," he growled.
He pounced at her body, angling it so that he grabbed her and landed on the bed. He shielded her from the force of the fall and rolled her over immediately.
Her squeals of delight vibrated across the room and she giggled as he peppered kisses over her face and neck.
A smile seemed to be permanently etched on his lips as he teased and tickled her. Her happiness magnified his.
Suddenly, he felt light. Like the weight of the world had been lifted from his shoulders. He narrowly kissed her ear and whispered huskily.
"I am still hungry," he said.
"Oh, should I make something else and ruin our kitchen a little more?" she asked, her eyes gleaming with mischief.
"No. It's not that kind of hunger. It's the kind where I eat you and not even leave the bones behind."
He laced his fingers with hers and crawled down. The skirt was bunched up to her waist and her panties in shreds. His face was tucked between her legs and the dragon went to have his feast.
