Chapter 3
Chapter 3
C3 – Preposterous!
Qiao Mao emerged from the room, his gaze icy as he stared down Qiao Hee.
Three days prior, Qiao Hee had ambushed and injured him. While escorting him home, Qiao Hee craftily penned an IOU and, taking advantage of his unconscious state, pressed his bloodied handprint onto the document.
In Qiao Mao’s previous life, it was this very incident that forced him and his mother to leave their home. His mother, Zhen Gui, was so distraught that she wept bitterly into the night.
This event haunted Qiao Mao for the rest of his life. He spent his previous existence in a state of perpetual gloom, his days filled with endless battles.
It was clear that the tragedies of Qiao Mao’s Previous Life were all rooted in Qiao Hee’s actions. Qiao Hee was the catalyst for their misfortunes, the executioner who had driven his family towards their demise.
Upon seeing Qiao Hee, a towering rage erupted within Qiao Mao, his eyes brimming with unmasked murderous intent.
“I was just wondering who had the audacity to speak to me in such a manner. Turns out it’s you. Are your wounds healed? Or are you looking for another thrashing?” Qiao Hee said with a chilling smile. “Let me think, what should I demand from you this time?”
Had Qiao Mao been in his prime, Qiao Hee would have indeed feared him. But after the last encounter, when he had injured Qiao Mao, he also secretly administered a pill that dissipated his Qi.
Convinced that Qiao Mao, now weakened, would be no match for him, Qiao Hee was sure he could easily beat him once more.
“Mao, you’re not yet healed. You should go back and rest,” Zhen Gui interjected quickly, fearful that Qiao Mao would once again provoke Qiao Hee and escalate the situation.
“Control your son. If he dares to glare at me like that again, I’ll ensure his life is a living hell,” Qiao Hee threatened. Seeing the fear etched on Zhen Gui’s face, he let out a scornful laugh.
Zhen Gui was in a state of panic. She was prepared to risk her own life in a confrontation with Qiao Hee, but she had to think of Mao’s well-being. With no other option, she reluctantly conceded, “Mao, please return to your room. I’ll handle this.”
“If you insist on dealing with it, then so be it. But you must vacate this house today,” Qiao Hee declared, his eyes coldly scanning Zhen Gui. “You may be getting on in years, but you’ve still got charm. If I were to sell you to the Yi Hong Courtyard, I could make a tidy sum.”
“You beast.” Zhen Gui trembled with rage upon hearing those words. She tugged at Qiao Mao forcefully, her face etched with urgency as she implored, “Mao, you’re not well yet. Please, come back with me.”
But Zhen Gui couldn’t budge Qiao Mao. His feet might as well have been nailed to the ground. He reassured her, “Mom, I’m fine. I’ll handle this.”
Zhen Gui paused, a flicker of hesitation crossing her face.
“They’re nothing but scoundrels. I’ll take care of them. There’s no need for you to sully your hands.” Having said that, Qiao Mao stepped forward, positioning himself protectively in front of Zhen Gui.
“Mother, in my previous life, I was too weak to protect you and could only watch you suffer. This time around, I swear no one will ever humiliate you again,” Qiao Mao vowed silently.
“Qiao Mao, you dare insult me? Beat him. Beat him to death!” Qiao Hee commanded his men in a fit of rage. Now that Qiao Mao had completely lost his cultivation, he still had the audacity to insult him. Qiao Mao was practically begging for death.
Behind Qiao Hee stood two martial artists, both Mortality Transcending Level Three Heaven guards, serving as Qiao Hee’s private bodyguards.
“Little Evil Creature, meet your end.”
The two bodyguards sneered menacingly. They were the ones who had administered the Cultivation Dispersing Pill to Qiao Mao three days prior. Fully aware that Qiao Mao had no cultivation left and was incapable of resisting, they swung their fists, aiming directly at him.
As their fists neared Qiao Mao, a shadowy figure streaked by. Their blows hit nothing but air, and in the blink of an eye, both men were struck down.
Instantly, they were sent flying like kites without strings, crashing to the ground with such force that the earth itself seemed to tremble.
Though Qiao Mao was only at Mortality Transcending Level One Heaven, his combat experience from his previous life made defeating ordinary Mortality Transcending Level Three Heaven martial artists trivial.
Furthermore, the Ten-direction Prison Suppressing Technique Qiao Mao practiced was immensely powerful, rendering his physical strength on par with that of a Mortality Transcending Level Three Heaven warrior.
Qiao Hee’s eyes widened in terror as his two bodyguards were effortlessly subdued, realizing his own strength was merely at Mortality Transcending Level Three Heaven.
“Qiao Mao, how dare you harm my guard? Do you not fear my grandfather? He is an elder in our family,” Qiao Hee exclaimed, attempting to use his grandfather’s authority to intimidate Qiao Mao, knowing he was no match for him.
Qiao Mao let out a cold snort at the mention of Qiao Hee’s grandfather. A chilling glint passed through his eyes as he retorted, “You’re referring to Qiao Guang, aren’t you? I’ll deal with him in due time.”
For Qiao Mao, the desire to kill Qiao Guang surpassed the urge to kill Qiao Hee. In Qiao Mao’s Previous Life, it was Qiao Guang’s betrayal of the Qiao family in Martial Sun City that led to his mother’s death.
Furthermore, Qiao Guang was implicated in numerous other misdeeds. He colluded with the clan to eliminate many members of the Qiao family in Martial Sun City, committing a litany of heinous acts.
“You’re plotting to kill my grandfather?” Qiao Hee blanched upon hearing Qiao Mao’s vow to slay Qiao Guang, pointing an accusatory finger at him.
“Unfortunately, you won’t have the chance to witness me taking down Qiao Mao,” Qiao Mao replied icily, channeling his Spiritual Energy and swiftly striking at Qiao Hee’s neck.
Qiao Hee had come to Qiao Mao’s house looking for trouble, not anticipating that after Qiao Mao had dispatched his guards, he would be the next target. Fear washed over him, leaving him paralyzed.
Initially, Qiao Hee thought he could stand up to Qiao Mao, but now, terror had rendered him immobile. In a flash, Qiao Mao severed his neck.
Zhen Gui watched the scene unfold in shock, sensing a profound change in her son. He had matured significantly, both in his approach and his mindset.
“My son has grown up,” Zhen Gui murmured, brushing away a tear before approaching Qiao Mao. “Mao, you’ve killed Qiao Hee. You can no longer stay here. Leave Martial Sun City immediately, and I will take responsibility for the aftermath.”
Upon hearing her words, Qiao Mao was deeply moved. In both his past and present lives, his mother had always been willing to bear all burdens for him. This realization made Qiao Mao feel a profound sense of indebtedness to her.
“Mother, I’ve already found a solution. Please let me handle this. You must trust that I will manage it well,” Qiao Mao assured her. Leaving was out of the question for him. Given the opportunity for rebirth, he was determined to seek vengeance.
Yet, Zhen Gui was not convinced. Ultimately, Qiao Mao had no choice but to reveal that he had apprenticed himself to a formidable master. This reassurance finally persuaded Zhen Gui to allow him to remain at home.
