Chapter 141: Reaching the Border

Chapter 141: Reaching the Border

While the Spring Flower Sect could be considered the second strongest sect in the Heavenly Sky Kingdom, they were still weaker than the Seven Fates Sect that were rumoured to have an expert at the Ninth Stage of the Nascent Soul Realm, comparable to the ancestor from the Royal family of the Heavenly Sky Kingdom.

Still if they had someone at the Ninth Stage of the Nascent Soul Realm, Xuan Hao felt a bit worried on the behave of the Heavenly Sky Kingdom's royal family. After all, in the past, they were used to supress the sects within their territory…

But by now, they only had control over the central region of the Heavenly Sky Kingdom and even had to deal with both a plague outbreak and the attack of the Azure Sky Kingdom at the same time.

The Sky Empire did not care about the kingdoms beneath them fighting with each other, as long as the territory ended up falling to one of the kingdoms under their control.

This could be considered one of the ways that the Sky Empire tried to grow stronger experts within their territory by allowing the weaker kingdoms without a Domain Lord to fight each other. For them only Domain Lords mattered, as not even a few hundred Nascent Soul Realm Experts could compare to the value of a single Domain Lord.

"Hm… So now that you are here Elder Xuan, can I borrow you for a moment?" Seeing that Xuan Hao did not respond to her, Shu Yao did not mind in the slightest as her face became a little more serious upon asking this.

"Sure… But what about Zu Fei? I can't just leave her like this…" Looking over towards Zu Fei who by now was even more angry compared to before as she observed both of them get along without the slightest problem, Xuan Hao felt a bit awkward when he saw her pouting in anger.

Perhaps she had expected for him to start fighting with Shu Yao upon arriving and seeing her cultivation sealed by an outsider…?

"The seal I placed on her will automatically disperse in a few minutes, there is no need to worry about her… I would not have sealed her in the first place if she didn't attack me all of a sudden."

"Hmph! Elder Xuan, if you go with this vixen remember to be careful that she doesn't attack you!" Pouting angrily in response to Shu Yao's statement, Zu Fei turned her head away as she warned Xuan Hao.

"Sure…" Not knowing how to respond to the warning that Zu Fei gave him, Xuan Hao made his way down the Mountain Peak together with Shu Yao as Zu Fei remained in place.

As Xuan Hao and Shu Yao made their way over to a secluded place to discuss the reason that the Sect Master had called her over for outside of giving the Flying Sword Sect an extra layer of protection, a group of people finally arrived at the border between the Heavenly Sky Kingdom and the Azure Sky Kingdom after travelling without much rest for the past few days.

"Leader we have finally arrived at the border!" Calling out to the leader at the front of the group, one of the people from the group walked up and informed him.

"I can see that… We will take a rest at the camp for now, we will be returning to the capital again after I deliver the order of his majesty." Rolling his eyes at his subordinate, the leader decided to ignore him as he made his way down towards the army camp located a few hundred meters away from them together with the rest of his subordinates.

The army camp was full of activity as soldiers armed from head to toe patrolled around the camp.

Upon seeing the group of people coming over, one of the soldiers standing guard at the camp entrance quickly motioned towards a few other soldiers patrolling nearby as a small group of soldiers soon formed and made their way over to meet the messenger and his group.

The messenger did not slow down in the slightest upon seeing the soldiers coming over, but instead took out a small token with a wing symbol carved onto it and showed it the leading figure among the soldiers as he was about to ask them to either leave or show something to prove their identity.

"Royal Messenger…? The messengers are still around after the invention of the communication talisman, I thought you guys had been abolished long ago…" Showing a bewildered appearance upon seeing the token shown by the messenger, the soldier quickly recovered before he allowed them to enter the camp under the confused looks of the other soldiers.

"Captain, what is a messenger? I don't think I have heard about them before… Are they a secret part of the military or something?" A young soldier could not help but ask as he curiously looked in the direction that the messenger and the rest of his group had disappeared in.

"Hah… The Messengers are a thing of the past now, I thought that his majesty had already abolished them after the invention of the communication talisman a few hundred years ago, but it looks like they are still around…" Shaking his head, the captain explained to the young soldier.

"Communication talismans were such a recent invention?!" Seemingly shocked by this piece of information, the young soldier felt a bit bewildered.

The communication talismans were widely used pretty much everywhere on the continent, how could it have been something that had been invited only a few hundred years ago?

"Well, calling it a recent invention would not be a correct statement as it has been around for far longer, it is just that it has only recently begun to see use on our continent after the Explorer Union started expanding further into our continent. Many people believe that the origin of the first few blueprints on communication talismans stems from the Explorer Union.

But this is only a rumour, and nobody knows for certain… Well enough of this, get back to your patrol before we both end up getting in trouble." Seeing that the rest of the soldier already started to return to their original patrol routes, the captain stopped talking and hurried for the young soldier to return to his patrol.

"Yes Sir!" Recovering the bearing of a soldier upon hearing the captains last sentence, the young soldier quickly returned to his patrol route. Not forgetting to look in the direction that the outdated messenger group went.

Sooner or later, the messengers would be completely replaced by communication talismans as they were both safer and faster.

It was a wonder that the current ruler of the Azure Sky Kingdom still used messengers in this day and age, instead of just conveying his orders through communication talismans.
