Chapter 161: The Splendor of The Great Plague God

While the Heavenly Sky Kingdom beginning to fight back against the plague outbreak, the Azure Sky Kingdom on the other hand were finally beginning to see the effects of the plague as it finally managed to reach a small town at the border of the central region.

The worry of the common people began to increase as unrest inside the Azure Sky Kingdom grew day by day, with each day bringing about more and more bad news of the plague. Completely overshadowing the recent victory at the border against the Heavenly Sky Kingdom, resulting in the borders of the Azure Sky Kingdom growing bigger than ever before.

But something like this did not mean much to the common people as they would be worried about the plague spreading throughout the kingdom, compared to the Heavenly Sky Kingdom, the Azure Sky Kingdom did not respond to the plague at all and instead chose to ignore it.

It was at this point, when the people were suffering under the plague not knowing what to do, that people calling themselves priests of the great plague god arrived with a way to cure them.

At first people hesitated but seeing as the Azure Sky Kingdom's higher-ups did nothing, they decided to try and were happily surprised upon finding out that the believers of the great plague god had indeed helped cure the plague they were suffering under.

Like this, the splendor of the great plague god spread through the Azure Sky Kingdom.

Legend told about how the great plague god earned his name after curing countless plagues in both the mortal realm and the heavens above, something the common people of the Azure Sky Kingdom were more than happy to believe in after seeing the plague they were just suffering under disappear after a few blessings from the priests of the great plague god.

Other than that, the priests did not want anything from them after helping! They only asked that they thanked not them but the great plague god who allowed for them to help those who were in need.

"The great plague god ask not for any payment, all he asks for is a simple thank you…" Somewhere at the borders of the Azure Sky Kingdom inside the house of a small village that had been one of the first places hit by the plague, a tall middle-aged man dressed in a black robe with the crest of the plague god embroidered into it smiled kindly at the young woman kneeling down besides him with a small coin purse in her hands.

"B-but how can I ever repay you for this…? Without your help, my daughter would have…!" Trying her best not to cry when she thought about how her daughter had been suffering over the past week, the young woman did not know what to do and had ended up asking one of the priests that came from the recently popular church of the plague god.

Thinking back, the young woman realized that it had been the best decision she had ever made as the 'Great' Azure Sky Kingdom did not send any help to the common people… She had even heard rumours about people being blocked from entering the central region if they came from any of the areas the plague had spread through, even if they never visited the area for years!

Looking back up at the middle-aged man kindly smiling at her refusing to take her money, the young woman did not know what to do.

"You don't need to be so worried, put your faith in the plague god and thank him, not me. I'm merely a conduit for his great power." As he finished, the black robed man did not wait for any response before turning to leave the small room before the young woman managed to react.

The young woman stared blindly in the direction the priest had left in for a short moment before going over to the bed to check up on her daughter that was looking like a normal young girl sleeping. Nothing compared to her deadly white face, high fever and constant coughing from earlier.

"Put your faith in the plague god…" Muttering this to herself, the young woman felt extremely thankful to this unknown plague god that had saved her daughter, so with all her heart, she silently thanked this unknown god.

Among the cities at the border areas, she was not alone as similar events happened in many places, with the priests of the plague god gaining an increasingly good reputation among the common people of the Azure Sky Kingdom.

The Azure Sky Kingdom did not pay too much attention to a few rumours among the common people about magical priests appearing at their border to cure the plague.

For most of the higher-ups, it sounded more like the common people trying to cope with the fact that the plague was starting to go out of hand.

The thing they focused on at the moment was their war with the Heavenly Sky Kingdom and they already knew that a cure for the plague had appeared there, it was only a matter of time before they got their hands on it.

At that point the common people would be able to calm down again.

This was the thought of most people among the Azure Sky Kingdom's higher-ups, all oblivious to the fact that a certain bishop from church of the plague god had already considered the Azure Sky Kingdom to be its main target for conversion now that the cure had appeared and complicated things in the Heavenly Sky Kingdom.

It was at this moment that the Azure Sky Kingdom suddenly appeared, not caring about the common people, allowing the plague to spread freely without doing much to stop it.

Was this not a perfect opportunity for bishop to convert the common people to the church of the plague god?

With this, most of the bishop's resources and people began to focus on the Azure Sky Kingdom, with only a few of them remaining inside the Heavenly Sky Kingdom to find out where the cure came from.
