Chapter 1779 Array Tower(2)
When Yuan's Level 2 attack formations struck the woman's defensive formation, the impact was powerful enough to cause the entire thing to shake and large cracks to appear on its surface. The woman gritted her teeth as she poured her spiritual energy into the formation, quickly restoring it. However, the damage to her formation had also depleted some of her soul strength, something not easily recoverable.
'Not good! At this rate, his level 3 attack formations will be enough to destroy my defensive formation!'
The woman started casting level 3 array symbols just like Yuan since she would be able to attack much faster.
Yuan completed his array symbols a full two seconds before the woman, and in the world of Array Masters, even a fraction of a second could determine the victor, much less two seconds.
Seeing that Yuan launched his attacks before she could, the woman swiftly transferred half of her focus from offensive to defensive, strengthening her formation with a tremendous amount of spiritual energy.
However, even with her defensive formation enhanced, Yuan's level 3 attack formation was still strong enough to penetrate her barrier. Yet, it wasn't enough to completely destroy the barrier, as the holes would heal faster than Yuan could damage it.
The woman had managed to survive Yuan's onslaught, but it'd cost her dearly, and more than half of her spiritual energy was exhausted in that brief moment. Moreover, focusing on two different things took a toll on her soul strength.
Fortunately, she was able to finish creating her level 3 attack formations, and she bombarded Yuan's barrier the very next moment.
Seeing this, Yuan decided to strengthen his own barrier with his spiritual energy.
When the woman's attacks struck Yuan's barrier, they bounced off effortlessly, leaving the barrier completely unscathed. Not even the faintest scratch appeared on its surface.
The unexpected result left the woman utterly speechless, her disbelief evident as she stared at the barrier in stunned silence.
At that moment, Yuan finished a level 4 attack formation, attacking her barrier with it.
Clang!
The woman's barrier was shattered like glass after being struck by a rock despite her swift reaction and attempt to exhaust the rest of her spiritual energy to enhance her barrier. Unfortunately, even with all of her spiritual energy, she was unable to defend herself against a single level 4 attack formation from Yuan.
The woman fell to her knees and began gasping for air as her face dripped with sweat. Their battle had only lasted for a few minutes, but it was enough to completely exhaust her spiritual energy and soul strength.
"You… win," she announced sometime later after coming back from her shock.
"That was my first battle as an Array Master. It was quite fun. Thanks for the experience," Yuan bowed to her.
"Your first time…?" The woman stared at him with wide eyes.
She eventually shook her head, dismissing his remark as a joke, and said, "Anyway, you've passed the test and officially qualify to join our Array Tower." Her tone was composed, but there was an undeniable hint of acknowledgment in her voice.
"By the way, my name is Wan Qing."
"Yuan."
"Here is your badge, Yuan," Wan Qing handed him a badge that had several powerful formations hidden within.
Yuan subconsciously inspected the formations. Seeing his serious face, Wan Qing chuckled, "Relax, the formations inside that badge are there to protect you since the badge can also be used as a life-saving treasure."
Sure enough, Yuan confirmed that the formations were all defensive formations—except one.
"Why is there a tracker in here?" Yuan asked with raised eyebrows.
"Unlike the other towers, our Array Tower frequently sends its Array Masters out to assist those in need of our expertise," she explained. "The tracker is an additional layer of safety. In case we're kidnapped or killed, it can detect if our life is in danger, as well as help locate us."
"What a convenient thing," Yuan muttered.
"By the way, what is the ranking structure like in the Array Tower?" Yuan then asked.
"It's similar to that Array Masters' Association, but we start from level 5—going all the way to level 9. If you want to increase your rank, you'll also need to improve your Array Master level."
"I see…"
Yuan immediately began pondering. There was simply no way he could become a level 9 Array Master in a few months—before the time limit for his reward expires.
'Looks like I will have to sneak around this place, just like the Alchemy Tower.'
"I understand. Thank you."
Wan Qing handed him a scroll and said, "This is a list of things we expect you to do while part of the Array Tower. Make sure to read it because if you fail to do even a single thing on the list, you'll be kicked out of the tower."
Yuan accepted the scroll and took a look at it.
The Array Tower required its Array Masters to fulfill at least one mission a year. These missions are typically business requests sent to the Array Towers. For example, a sect would like to create a powerful formation around their territory, so they contact the Array Tower. Of course, whether the Array Tower accepted the request or not was a different story.
The next thing on the list required Array Masters below level 7 to reach that level within three hundred years. Failure to reach level 7 before the time limit would result in expulsion.
'Safe to say none of these rules matter to me.'
Yuan didn't even bother reading the rest of the list and tossed it inside his spatial ring.
"What are you going to do now that you're part of the Array Tower?" Wan Qing suddenly asked with a curious face.
"I'm going to the Alchemy Tower," he responded with a smile.
"..."
Wan Qing stared at him with wide eyes and muttered, "Are you trying to join every single tower out there?"
"Yes, I am."
"Why?"
"Why not?" Yuan shrugged, leaving her speechless.
