"There are so many people here…" Xi Meili swallowed nervously.
What was truly awe-inspiring about the crowd wasn't its sheer size, but the overwhelming number of experts it contained. The majority of those present hailed from powerful sects and prestigious families, each sending their most accomplished members to represent them. Not wanting to show any disrespect to the Heavenly Beast Sect, these factions had ensured that only their best and brightest were in attendance.
As for those from the upper heavens, most of them were directly sent inside the sect without needing to wait around.
"How does one receive permission to enter the Hidden Domain?" Xi Meili then asked.
"In most cases, you pay the party with ownership," said Tan Songyun. "I wonder how much it'll cost. Seeing how many are interested, I'm willing to bet it'll be expensive," Xi Meili sighed.
"Let's enter the line first," Yuan said a moment later.
Soon, they entered the massive queue.
After waiting in line for about an hour, a young woman wearing a unique uniform approached them.
"Hello, can you tell me your background? I am from the Heavenly Beast Sect," said the young woman.
"We're a group. My name is Xiao Yang, and I am from the Celestial Overlords."
Yuan decided to use this as his primary identity for the time being.
"C-Celestial Overlords?!" The young woman exclaimed with a startled face.
When those around them heard the woman's voice, they all turned to look at Yuan, who was still wearing a mask.
Even Tan Songyun was staring at him with wide eyes.
'What are you doing?! To impersonate someone from the Celestial Overlords, are you seeking death?!' Tan Songyun shouted at him through voice transmission. Yuan ignored her and showed the young woman his faction symbol.
"Please follow me, esteemed guests!" The young woman bowed to them.
"..." Tan Songyun wore a dumbfounded look on her face, as she didn't expect Yuan actually to be part of such a famous faction.
Yuan looked at Tan Songyun and smiled. "Is it worse than impersonating a Dragon Emperor?" he asked her through voice transmissions.
Tan Songyun could only remain speechless.
Sometime later, the female disciple brought them to a luxurious building and said, "Please wait here for a moment. One of our sect elders will come to speak with you as soon as possible."
After leaving Yuan's group, the female disciple immediately went to notify the sect elder responsible for receiving guests from the upper heavens.
"What? Someone from the Celestial Overlords is here? That's impossible," said the sect elder.
"Why is it impossible? That person showed me the Celestial Overlords' faction symbol," explained the disciple.
"It's impossible because people from the Celestial Overlords already visited us, and there were four of them. Why would the Celestial Overlords send two groups separately?"
"That's…" the disciple fell silent.
"Whatever. I will see them myself. If he turns out to be an imposter, I'll notify the real member."
The sect elder didn't wait around and immediately left.
Sometime later, the sect elder arrived at Yuan's guest house and knocked on the door.
"You must be the sect elder." Xi Meili opened the door.
"Yes, I am Elder Pan. Are you the guest from the Celestial Overlords?" the sect elder asked in a respectful tone.
Although he was suspicious of their identity, he had to remain cautious just in case it was a misunderstanding.
Xi Meili shook her head and said, "No, he's inside. I am his traveling companion."
The sect elder entered the building and followed Xi Meili to the living room, where Yuan and Tan Songyun were sipping tea.
"Welcome to our humble Heavenly Beast Sect, esteemed guests. I heard from my disciple that you're from the Celestial Overlords. I apologize in advance if this is a misunderstanding, but a group of individuals from the Celestial Overlords has already visited our sect."
"Is that so? Although I am from the Celestial Overlords, I am visiting for personal reasons, so it's not like I was sent by my faction."
Yuan showed him his faction symbol and rank, "I was recently recruited by Celestial Overlord Qiang, so my rank is lacking."
"You were personally recruited by a Celestial Overlord?!" The sect elder swallowed nervously after hearing this.
"If you don't believe me, I can contact her for you," Yuan said.
'And he even has direct access to her?!' the sect elder cried inwardly.
"N-no, it's fine. I believe you. I apologize for doubting your identity."
"Don't worry, I understand."
'The Celestial Overlords have sent four people to explore the Hidden Domain, huh? They must've sent one from each faction,' Yuan thought to himself.
"Anyway, I am here to request permission to enter the Hidden Domain. How do I acquire it?"
"About that… the Hidden Domain has limited spots—20,000 spots to be precise, so there's fierce competition for them."
"Limited spots? This is news to me."
"We just found out ourselves. Moreover, this is a 'rule' within the Hidden Domain, so it's not something we made up to drive up the price. I apologize for any inconvenience."
"I see. And how many slots have been taken so far?"
"A little over 19,000."
"So there are less than a thousand spots left, huh? So, how much does the Heavenly Beast Sect want for an entry?"
Although entry to the Hidden Domain would likely come at an exorbitant cost, Yuan wasn't overly concerned about being unable to afford it.
"Unfortunately, we are unable to directly sell you a slot right now. However, we will take your offer into consideration and give you an answer next month."
"So the highest bidder wins," Yuan mumbled.
He began counting the number of slots he needed.
'Xiao Hua, Feng Feng, Yingzi, Meili, Yingying, Yu Ning… will those living within my Soul Weapons need a slot?'
He turned to look at Tan Songyun and asked, "Do you also want to enter?"
"Of course, but you don't need to pay for my slot. I'll handle it myself," she said.
"Alright."
