Chapter 49: Inferno

Chapter 49: Inferno

Hiro panted heavily.

Just now, he tried to forcefully use the {Infinite Sword Matrix} because he was lacking in offense spells.

Although he couldn't use the real spell, he already grasped its foundations, allowing him to construct one sword.

Although it was just one sword, he discovered that he could pour his consciousness and spirit qi into this sword without reservation, resulting in the creation of such a massive construct.

If not for this, Hiro had no idea how he could have penetrated through the broodmother's defenses.

All-in-all, this demonic creature was weak, its only advantages being the army of insects and the high defense value.

Once both factors are eliminated, the danger level drops considerably.

Bzzz! Bzzz! Bzzz!

Suddenly, everyone heard discordant buzzing noises from the distance. Looking over, they saw massive lumps of miasma taking to the skies, parting to reveal broodmothers in flight.

Massive, translucent wings spread from their back, keeping them airborne and far from melee range.

"They've been forced into premature evolution," someone below said.

He seemed like an expert when it came to these biological atrocities, as he spotted the troublesome nature of the broodmothers so quickly.

Five… six… nine… twelve… fifteen!

So many broodmothers took to the sky in one go, followed by the loud laughter of a man who had long since discarded his mask.

His laughter boomed from the distance.

"You didn't expect this, did you? Haha, It's surprising how many idiots jumped at the moment Master Osmond displayed his dissatisfaction with you, the little guy from the Odin family! Thanks to their stupidity, I had sufficient offerings to awaken these precious little things…"

As his voice echoed in the dimly lit skies, the broodmothers issued silent screams.

In answer to their calls, millions of insects gathered from all over the realm, blotting the skies from the eight directions.

Theo's expression was ugly, the same as everyone else.

Someone brought out their dimensional key to open a portal to the outside world, but the silent shrieks from the broodmothers shook the fragile space of this waning pocket dimension.

The mocking laughter continued. "Don't even try to run; it's pointless! Just die and become nutrients for my cause! I need to prepare for the next batch of idiots!"

Someone couldn't hold it in anymore and cursed loudly, "Fuck! These people are lunatics! Traitors!"

"Well," the woman with a wolf mask said, "If these things are under his control, it's not considered as working in cahoots with external races. The church would turn a blind eye; I mean, didn't they subdue demons too?"

That person went silent. Of course, he knew about it—he was just venting his anger.

Theo sucked in a deep breath and looked over at Hiro, asking hesitantly, "Master Babylon, can you handle it?"

Hiro went silent for a moment and responded in a soothing voice that resonated from all sides, seemingly overwhelming the shrieking of the broodmothers.

"It's possible, but…" his voice carried a hint of hesitation. "I'd be breaking the rules of my organization; I'm not supposed to reveal my true strength yet."

Is he still limiting himself? Theo was stunned, suddenly recalling how Hiro casually saved Bella and didn't seem to be lacking anything.

His mind and imagination started running wild, and not just him—everyone else was equally stunned.

"I can guarantee that I won't speak a word of what happens here; my men are trustworthy, Master Babylon!" Theo discarded those thoughts and quickly made a promise.

The wolf-masked woman followed, "I can speak for myself as well; I won't say a word."

"Me too, Master Babylon!"

"Me too…"

Soon, everyone expressed their sincere stance. Well, no one wanted to fall under the radar of two powerful masters.

It seems like this trap was set by Master Osmond to target Master Babylon, who supposedly showed up out of nowhere to foil some plans regarding the Odins.

Hiro felt refreshed inside.

Yes, worship me more! Sigh, I hope someone would ask about my organization's name, this way I can show off even more. No, it should be done one step at a time…

"Alright then," Hiro's voice echoed. "Get ready to use your keys at any moment, this dimension is too weak—my powers will most likely cause a backlash."

Backlash? Everyone's expression changed.

While they were immersed in their shock, Hiro's aura dwindled at an alarming rate.

Soon, he gave off the feeling of an ordinary Tiet 9 Paranormal, confusing their senses.

However, that didn't last for too long as the next moment, Hiro synchronized with the Arcana Lord.

His aura went from weak to deep, bottomless—unfathomable!

Hiro raised a hand and muttered, "Hymn of Protection."

Boom!

Space shook. Then, a massive translucent figure rose from the ground, bent over, and covered the large group of people with his palms, creating a transparent dome above their heads.

The illusory figure had no particular facial features, just like the current Hiro.

Everyone felt the boundless energy contained within the projection, making them feel weak and tiny in the face of absolute strength.

When they next came to their senses, Hiro was in the sky, high above the projection, his hands clasped behind his back.

Then, they heard a chanting voice reverberating all around—far and near, and the long string of chants ended with one word.

"Inferno."

Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!

Streaks of blazing cinders phased into existence from thin air, slowly gravitating toward one another to form dense clusters.

Each cluster spun crazily, drawing air and miasma toward itself—into its boiling, white-hot core.

Everyone watched in astonishment as one infernal cyclone after another took shape, connecting the ground and the sky.

The heat that twisted light and blurred the eyes encompassed the entire pocket dimension, and the loud shrieking of the broodmothers turned into wailing—cries of anguish.

Hiro watched silently, even when the man in the distance started screaming like a madman.

+ 1 XP…

+ 1 XP…

+1 XP…

Everyone and everything outside the protection was gradually restored to ashes under the storm of fire.

Theo and everyone else watched, their eyes full of horror. Then, one after another, they tried their dimensional keys.

"It works!"

Someone yelled, becoming the first but not the last to leave.

The sky cracked, the ground quaked—the world was preparing to retaliate, but Hiro watched silently.

This beautiful inferno was a display of his power. Just by standing here, the world felt threatened by his presence.

This feeling was too… intoxicating.

Boom!

Theo, the wolf-mask woman, and the rest tumbled out from the shaking portal and looked back in horror.

The long elliptical line contracted, twisted, and collapsed into a black sphere on the verge of eruption.

The immense fluctuations of power sent shivers down the spines of everyone present, and they had a feeling of certain death approaching them.

Just as they were at a loss on what to do, someone walked out from the black sphere of energy—unharmed.

Hiro was still immersed in the notification he received after he unintentionally destroyed the pocket dimension.

[Notice: You've completed the hidden mission, "Apocalypse Incarnate."

[Reward 1: Innate physique, "Gluttony."

[Reward 2: 5% shares exchange coupon.

"Master Babylon, be careful!"

Theo shouted, feeling scared.

Hiro looked up, noticing the volatile concentration of energy.

After thinking for a while, he raised his palm and said, "Gluttony."

A gravitational force erupted from the center of his palm, and under everyone's stunned gaze, the ball of energy twisted—and despite its struggles, it was drawn into Hiro's palm.

Feeling the surge of energy, Hiro felt amazing, and a number of notifications popped up.

[Notice: You've leveled up!]

[Notice: You've leveled up!]

[Notice: You've leveled up!]

[Notice: You've leveled up!]

[Notice: You've leveled up!]

[Notice: You've leveled up!]

His main body reached level 30 in one go, stunning him. Hiro quickly snapped back to his senses, inspecting his surroundings.

"Don't contact me anytime soon, I'll let you know when I need something," Hiro's disembodied voice echoed.

Then, he activated his {Omniscient Vision} to lock onto the location of his mansion before teleporting into his study room.

Theo and everyone else were still in a daze, only coming back to their senses when another one of Hiro's sentences sounded in the air.

"It's fine to share my contact information with your little friends, Theo. Consider it an advanced payment for keeping whatever happened today a secret."

Hiro appeared inside the study, and just as he canceled his synchronization, he received a notification that the interpersonal mission was completed.

After being stunned for a moment, Hiro remembered that Arabella was the one helping Natali get around in the nightclub.

In a sense, Hiro just discovered that he could regulate his interpersonal missions to his summoned servants, and he would still get awarded when they finished it.

However, 5 gems no longer gave Hiro that much excitement, especially since he already had over 80 gems waiting to be spent.

After leaving the study and entering the bathing chambers in his master's bedroom, Hiro got comfortable in bed and got prepared to focus on Transcendent Daoist.

Until he found pocket dimesnsions that were strong enough to handle his Arcana Lord's overwhelming power, he needed to round up his other character.

With his lessons learned, Hiro decided to complete missions and stack up on offensive, defensive, and auxiliary skills as soon as possible…
