Chapter 62 : Entering the Pocket Dimension
Chapter 62 : Entering the Pocket Dimension
Hearing the explanation from Hiro, Rosaline collected herself and sighed in relief.
Of course, the other and deeper factor was that this small island was most likely a node of faith energy, and plenty of the faith energy was concentrated in the air.
That old priest was most likely praying to galvanize the energy onto this location.
In a populated city where the government is openly and secretly contending with the church, such a setup was most likely to fail brilliantly.
Bzzzt!
The oval structure flickered to life as dense energy waves rolled out. Slowly, a dimensional gate took shape before everyone's eyes.
"Don't be afraid, children of faith!" Shouted the old man. "Keep reverence in your heart and the Lords will watch over you!"
Then, he stepped aside while the nuns made an inviting gesture, allowing the different parties to proceed in batches into the gate.
They also held a large printed map, presenting it to the explorers for a brief look.
This way, they couldn't say that they went inside blind. Anyway, the entrance location was already cleaned up by the people from the Holy Church, so it wasn't that dangerous.
Soon, it was the Rosch family's turn.
Hiro and Rosaline were the last to enter, and it was for nothing else other than Hiro taking his time to take in the details of every map presented by the nuns.
A few minutes later and after getting a picture of the entire territory in his mind, Hiro and Rosaline stepped through the dimensional gate and appeared in the designated area for the Rosch family.
"Die!"
This time, not three, but eight figures ambushed Hiro and Rosaline all at the same time.
Rosaline's heart skipped a beat; she was about to act. However, Hiro beat her to it this time.
Bzzzt! Bzzzt! Bzzzt!
Three lightning swords took form around Hiro's body before exploding out with an unbelievable speed, leaving nothing but a flashing blur in Rosaline's eyes.
Other than that, six wind swords, barely perceivable, moved in the blinding lights emitted from the electric flare.
When the lightning swords were close enough to their targets and the ambushing group calculated the timing to parry, block, or even counterattack—the wind swords exploded with an even greater speed, directly killing off six people by penetrating their heads.
Blood splattered all around, shocking the members of the Rosh family—Rosaline included.
Then, the six wind swords split up, two swords each fusing into one of the lightning swords.
Immense pressure radiated out, comparable to an S-Rank Tier-7 Paranormal, and weighed heavily on the hearts of the spectators.
"Stop this instance! That's enough!"
Shouted a female member of the family, but Hiro acted deaf and continued on with his slaughter.
Hiro had his fair share of battles, and a group of immature brats like them had no chance against him at all.
Furious, the rest of the group drew out their weapons and were about to act. At this moment, Hiro gave Rosaline the side eye.
"Kill them all," he said lightly. "This is the only way for you to prove your loyalty."
As he spoke, Hiro's attacks stopped aiming for the kill. Rather, they crippled the youngsters of the Rosch family.
As a form of 'mercy', Hiro finished off Rosaline's immediate family.
Rosaline was still reeling from the shock of what Hiro had just said.
Kill them? Me? Rosaline's head was blank, and she felt very confused.
"I thought this is a normal occurrence in your family," Hiro tilted his head. In the backdrop of their conversation, Rosaline's living cousins had faces full of horror as they begged to be spared.
Some of them even cursed Rosaline for betraying the family—betraying her blood.
These accusations stabbed deep into Rosaline's psyche, and for a moment, she didn't know what to do.
Hiro wasn't in a rush. Meanwhile, he silently paid 1,000 achievement points to the system and extracted the coordinates of this pocket dimension.
A few minutes later, Hiro creased his brows and asked impatiently, "What? Can't do it?"
Rosaline bit her bottom lip and responded in a defeated hoarse voice. "I… I can't, I can't do it… Anything else is fine, but I can't do this…"
Hiro didn't even want to listen to her explanation. After all, he also understood the difficulty of his request.
He waved his hand, and a new dimensional gate opened. No one could see where it led to, but a woman clad in white armor and carrying a long white spear walked out.
As he had anticipated something like this, Hiro had stationed Juvia on the other end of the portal inside his personal pocket dimension.
Hiro said, "Since you can't bear to kill them, they'll have to wait as guests somewhere else patiently."
Rosaline watched as the woman in white armor picked up her brothers and sisters before tossing them into the gate, and although she was curious about where it led to, she didn't dare ask.
"Aren't you concerned about my loyalty? I've already refused your orders once…" Although she was afraid, Rosaline had to say this.
Then, they heard a groan coming from somewhere. It was coming from two young men—they were among Rosaline's distant relatives.
More like her cousins.
Hiro smiled and pointed at them. "Kill the two of them and you can walk out of here alive. Don't do it, and your entire Rosch family will be buried with you."
"Wait, wait, wait… Don't! I didn't see or hear anything, I swear!"
"Please spare my life, cousin! Please spare my life!"
Rosaline was racked with indecision for a split second before affirming her choice. Hiro had already shown great tolerance by allowing her immediate family to leave, even if they were hostages.
Thus, she moved swiftly and killed both young men, and her hands were still trembling even after she swept the blood away from her short blades.
"This is more like it," Hiro murmured to himself with a smile. "Now, everything is in order."
After he finished talking, the quantum watch on his wrist flashed, projecting a holographic screen that played out random scenes of what just happened.
They were shaky, and the angle was manipulated as though it was a collection of images and videos taken from a distance.
Such editing was very simple for a quantum computer.
Of course, Hiro's voice and visage were blurred. As for Rosaline, her features were somewhat blurry, but those familiar with her could immediately tell.
Of course, anyone could investigate and find out that the one who joined Rosaline on the expedition was Hiro, but who can prove that it wasn't someone she met inside the pocket dimension?
No matter what, they can't act without proof.
Even if they did, the Rosch family can't handle Hiro anymore.
Rosaline's expression turned pale, not having expected the ordinary-looking watch on Hiro's wrist to be an advanced technological device.
Especially when she heard the static voice from her cousins toward the very end—she knew that she was already trapped.
The scene of her immediate family's capture was removed, but anyone who watched this clip would think that Rosaline had killed all of her family members.
Hiro clapped his hands. "This settles it, then. I'll be leaving this pocket dimension, and you can do what you want. If you find yourself in trouble, request help from the Unfathomable Throne—better be sincere about it."
Just as the system had mentioned in the past, names carry mysterious powers when it comes to faith energy.
Since Hiro's domain was called the Unfathomable, and the highest order of power was the Unfathomable Throne derived from the Babylon Throne, this name will immediately trigger a response from his domain.
It usually wouldn't work that way, but Rosaline had a direct connection to him, the owner of the domain, so many of the tedious steps could be skipped.
"I need to create some trinkets and expose them to the faith energy," Hiro mumbled to himself in a whisper, but he moved to the dimensional gate without hesitation.
[Notice: The system can provide tokens of authority with varying density of faith energy for the host. The lowest grade is for free.]
As he was walking away, the system's notification appeared in his mind and line of sight.
Hiro raised an eyebrow, but he didn't stop.
Anyway, he didn't need these tokens at the moment.
Rosaline's eyes glimmered, and she connected the dots on her own. This was eerily similar to the ways of the Holy Church and thus, she decided not to follow Hiro's advice.
In any case, she was carrying a dimensional key, so her life wasn't in serious danger.
She watched Hiro's back as it disappeared into the dimensional gate before she turned around and left.
A while after Rosaline left, another dimensional gate opened in the same spot.
However, what walked out from the gate was someone clad in intricate demonic attire, blazing red eyes shimmering through a devious mask.
As pitch-black demonic energy rolled out from his person, he opened his arms wide and took in a deep breath.
"Such pure demonic energy," he spoke in a hoarse, deep voice. "Sadly, my strength won't change no matter how much I draw into my body."
He sighed, feeling that it was a pity.
After testing his compatibility with the demonic energy, Hiro canceled the synchronized state but kept the cosmetics on, picked a direction, and left unhurriedly.
