Chapter 92: Bella’s Ritual

Chapter 92: Bella’s Ritual

How exciting!

Hiro was very curious about how things would turn out, how would Juvia handle the corrupted officials and appease the public, and how would his relationship with her superiors turn out to be.

The further one climbs up the social ladder, they would realize that it isn't a ladder at all, but a civilized imitation of the food chain pyramid.

Just as ruthless and bloody, yet it all happened in the dark, behind the public eyes.

At some point, if you want to climb up, you have to drag someone down. It's impossible to keep moving up while maintaining a good relationship with your superiors all the time.

To prevent excessive tension and malicious competition, promotions across the government sector enjoy a wide range.

You can be responsible for public security today, and financial investments tomorrow, and perhaps you'd end up as nothing more than a secretary the day after.

Capabilities, results, and accomplishments represented everything in the government sector.

This way, even if your direct superior had a long term and was in no position to step down, you can always get a transfer order to another post, which is another way of getting promoted.

Superiors wouldn't have to worry too much about their subordinates stabbing them in the back, and subordinates wouldn't have to worry about their superiors suppressing them too much.

Sadly, Hiro wasn't planning to burn through his faith energy to watch this drama to the end. He knew that such things would take days of work, preparations, investigations, and more.

He couldn't possibly just sit back and watch without worries. Feelings both satisfied and expectant, Hiro disconnected from the projection and returned to the universe hall.

After thinking for a moment, he decided not to check on Arabella's situation. He felt like she needed his help the least, especially since her hypnotic charming abilities were like nuclear weapons in the business sector.

Arabella was smart enough not to make things too obvious, and so, she wouldn't get caught unless she blatantly exposed her demonic energy.

With the system censoring her energy and masking her presence, nothing would happen as long as she didn't poke the hornet's nest called the Holy Church.

As Hiro was lost in thoughts, he noticed the stars in the distance shifting about, slowly taking on the form of a petite girl surrounded by twinkling stars.

The stars projected the image of countless treasures, and looking at them, one person came to Hiro's mind.

It can't be, right? Although feeling skeptical, Hiro still connected his mind to the new constellation.

As he did so, he witnessed a breathtaking scene. From the constellation, a river of faith energy sprinkled with starlight descended like a waterfall, pouring into the running current of faith energy below.

Then, Hiro felt a mental connection—something similar to a contact yet it wasn't truly a contact—binding him to the constellation.

Burning with curiosity, Hiro immediately took a look at the scene displayed through the constellation's projection.

It was pink all around, and on the bed in the middle of the room, concealed behind dense curtains of a luxurious canopy, Hiro saw Bella seated on the mattress while magical treasures surrounded her body.

Six drops of blood essence flowed out from her forehead, shot into the cavities of the mysterious treasures, and then ignited like oil in a lantern.

Is this some sort of a ritual to contact the deities? Hiro observed quietly, but he couldn't listen in to what was going on inside Bella's mind.

Telepathy was a two-way street, and if he wanted to listen to her inner thoughts, she would also hear his in return.

Hiro was prepared to make such a gamble as he feared to disturb her concentration.

However, after going through all of those books in Asmir's library, Hiro could deduce what Bella was doing at the moment.

A while later, Bella opened her eyes with a pale complexion and muttered, "Did Master Babylon hear me? I'm not a real Paranormal so I can only use my lifespan and blood essence as a sacrifice…"

As Hiro listened to her words, his heart moved slightly.

What did this girl go through recently?

After hesitating for a moment, Hiro checked the system shop to see if he could get anything to help her as he connected to her mind through telepathy.

"You have Babylon in your mind, but you have the Unfathomable Throne in your heart, what is it exactly?"

Hearing the sudden voice in her head, Bella was shocked at first. However, she quickly felt elated.

However, her excitement died down quickly as she thought things through. Her father divulged to her that Babylon was from some organization called the Unfathomables.

Even today, Babylon's thread on the PARA app was open for the world to try their best, yet no one could hack into his device, whatever it was.

This issue was a very serious matter, and if Babylon's actions weren't so open and above board, her father wouldn't have told her anything.

She knew a little about deities, and she assumed that perhaps the Unfathomables were a faction created by some deity who fractured from the Holy Church.

With that in mind, she attempted to use a ritual designated to communicate with the deities, using her lifespan and blood essence as the price.

Now, Hiro also understood that the wave of faith energy he received was converted from lifespan and blood essence, not devout worship.

As Bella's mind was in a mess, her thoughts were an open book to Hiro, who immediately understood her situation.

As it turned out, her father had disappeared for a while now, and she was all alone with her mother at home.

She was worried that she'd be abducted by her father's enemies once more, especially since the tension around Babylon and the Unfathomables was increasing.

With that in mind, she hoped to seek help from Babylon, or anyone from their organization.

The thing is, Hiro didn't know how to help her.

Yes, he could go back to the human world, but what can he do then? He didn't know if the Holy Church was setting up an ambush for him.

From the looks of it, Berlin didn't betray Hiro and expose his 'connection' to the Unfathomables or Babylon—at least the connection in her mind.

Should I buy her an awakening potion? Hiro thought to himself and looked into the system shop.

Then, he was shocked. 100,000 achievement points for one potion?!

Hiro didn't think that the price of awakening potions would spike up after a purchase, so he immediately shelved the idea away.

After thinking about it, Hiro asked the system in his mind, System, can I give out servant summoning tokens?

Bella was rich, and she could afford to raise her own summoned servant if she had one to protect her at all times.

Also, it was very cheap if he went for something with low potential. In the short term, he didn't need to get her something with Tier-4 potential, just a Tier-5 potential is enough.

[Notice: Under certain prerequisites, yes. Currently, the human Bella and the creatures under the influence of your enlightenment are eligible to receive your gifts.]

While Hiro was glad about the response he received from the system, Bella's chaotic mind finally settled down.

"Are you the deity behind Master Babylon? Can I talk to him, please?" Bella supported herself on the bed, panting heavily while asking for help.

"He can't help you at the moment," Hiro's deep voice echoed in her head. "However, I've already accepted your sacrifice, so I will help you this once."

As Hiro spoke, he decided to bleed a little for this pink-haired goofball and spent the points for a servant token with ordinary potential, a healing potion, an invisibility potion, a night vision potion, a speed buff potion, a strength buff potion, and other helpful items.

Toward the end, Hiro ended up spending over 30,000 points, which was something he saved up during the last few days of camping in the Decay Canyon.

While feeling pained, and before Bella could respond, Hiro gritted his teeth and burned a portion of his faith energy to condense a collection of information, transmitting it into Bella's mind while transferring the items over to her.

With his planeswalker ability, it was easy to use faith energy as a bridge to open a direct portal in Bella's bedroom.

From the portal, bottles of potions fell on the bed together with a summoning token that had the image of a black leopard engraved on it.

In her confusion, Bella felt a wave of dizziness strike her mind, and a wave of information exploded forth.

Summoning Token? Potions? A summoning ritual?

As this information flooded her mind, Bella was utterly dumbfounded.

Is this the foundation of a secret organization? They can give out Paranormals just like that?!

Bella didn't dare to believe it. Thus, she hurriedly gathered her thoughts, expressed her thanks, and cleared out the traces of the communication ritual before setting up the required atmosphere for the summoning ritual.

After gathering her thoughts once again and taking in a deep breath, Bella stood in the center of the freshly drawn magical circle before holding up the summoning token, channeling some of her blood essence into the token for lack of any alternative, and crushed it.

Then, something unbelievable happened…
